That’s exactly why he’s going to die. They knew we would love his character. The fact that we fell in love with a background character after 2 episodes proves this show is incredible.

This is how you do a prequel right. You surround the main player with characters you care about. So the tension is at an all time high as you watch what happens to them. Kino, Bix, Maarva, Luthen have all been handled so well.
you know what i love that's kinda underappreciated in this show? How crunchy and oldschool OT the terminals and monitors look. I love me some dudes pointing at a bunch of weird lines and shapes and being like 'see these coordinates' and i'm like 'whatever you say man it's star wars'
and the fucking SYNTH MUSIC SCORE for this arc?! FUCK yeah
Andy Serkis is such an underrated actor. Truly a master at his craft.
Not sure he's underrated, he's in almost every big movie franchise there is ahah

@@wadiyatalkinabeet2514 but is he a household name? And would people be able to recognize him walking down the street? Think about some of this biggest roles: Gollum, Caesar, King Kong, Snoke. They were all under a ton of makeup and/or CGI. It's only more recently that he's been getting roles where he finally gets to show his face, like this one, or as Ulysses Klaue, or as Alfred.
@@OptimusWombat Personally I think just cause he has done alot of digital characters doesn't mean he's underrated. I've never heard someone say they don't like his work ever

andy serkis has been absolutely killing it as kino loy. it's a shame that he hasn't had a (good) bigger role - he was wasted as snoke.

I am AMMMMPED FOR THIS EPISODE
The various narrative tropes applicable would all indicate that he's a dead man... But. Instead of just a subversion for the sake of subversion, I'd actually enjoy him making it out and either vanishing or being involved in something we haven't heard about. Narratively it would work either way; if he dies, he helped save others, including Andor and Melshi. If he lives, it could help give Andor and Melshi hope that you can convert others to a good cause, or at least one vital good act even if they don't stick around. Both are a huge moral lift in a situation like this, whether it means you can gain more support, or know what can crack and break what holds a status quo together.
This is arguably an even darker take on the Rebellion than the Partisans and the Rogue One story, but maybe isn't so far removed from A New Hope. Aside from the direct references to 1138... This show essentially took the position that Luthen Rael was right; success of the heist and any ensuing agitprop caused the Empire to overreact and show their nature in record time, when they were trying to ease everyone into a new normal. The harder the crackdown, the bigger the authority takes things... The more viral the reflexive reaction and response to it.
It's actually... One of the deepest things I think every put into Star Wars canon. Fascism takes over through fearmongering about or outright war with "others", then making the response a norm until the population experiences complacency about the dire measures now being a norm... Disrupting the fabric of that and deliberately jarring people into realizing it isn't normal, while causing the authority to overreact and make its horrible actions overt, is how you really disrupt a fascist state when it has essentially already won. This is literally some of the best modern political theory and actual historical reference to ever hit Star Wars, to an extent that it'd be almost too adult if it didn't show instead of tell.

The prison episodes are the best so far. It's like "Escape from Sobibor" set in another galaxy. Tense, gritty. Drama not fantasy.
And you better believe the Empire would be more than willing to cover this up and triple down, just like the Nazis did.

Great character.I think Skarsgards character is going to flip as well. So we see multiple character arcs do a 360. Great writing, why couldn’t they have put this much effort into those last two shit shows?!
You think? he showed genuine concern on the radio... Might be fear for himself but I see his arc more along the lines of forgiving Andor and letting him join the cause instead of killing him, and then him dying himself, in a way that brings people even more together, possibly pushing Mon Mothma over the edge and fully comitting to the cause.
