Oh my god Star Wars fans really have no metric for what good writing is when they set the bar as low as Mandolorian.
The original trilogy is on the same level of writing quality as the prequels. Andor is the best piece of Star Wars media ever made and there’s no contest, that’s how mediocre and soulless the rest of the franchise is.

This sets the power structure to a far more realistic standard. Instead of Ties being toys for Jedi to blow up, here we see normal people (a parallel to us the audience) being shown a seemingly insurmountable obstacle, what is in reality a high end piece of military hardware.

I disagree. This show hardly feels like Star Wars. It's not even close to the quality of the prequels, originals, clone wars, rogue one, fallen order, etc. The director said he doesn't even like Star Wars which makes complete sense. Even though he's respecting the SW lore to an extent, it still seems like a mid, well written show. Just because many people don't like a show you like, it doesn't mean they're wrong.

A lot of people seem to really underestimate TIE Fighters, seeing them as cannon fodder. But we've seen from the OT how TIEs have no problems blowing X and Y-Wings out of the sky, and games such as the classic SW Battlefront 1 and 2, as well as Rogue Leader and TIE Fighter, can show how devastating TIEs can be against Rebel starfighters if piloted by skilled men. A skilled player stepping into the shoes of a TIE pilot can take down 12-20 Rebel starfighters in any given battle using the TIE's agility and heavy firepower alone, and even Rebel players find it annoying when a TIE Fighter tailgates them and blows them out of the sky. So that's both the original canon movies and some very good video game examples showing how TIEs can be devastating against their enemies, and they usually come in large numbers. There's a reason why Rebel fleets are mostly hit and run units during most of the Galactic Civil War prior to the Battle of Endor; the moment too many TIEs or warships show up, they know the game is up, and no amount of shields will save a Rebel starfighter from a swarm of vicious TIEs.

When you realize that if the Imperials here were like the ones that tried to catch Luthen's haulcraft, then that TIE would’ve had some great target practice.

Literally the cheapest, most barebones ship in all of star wars was somehow made so terrifying. It wasn’t any faster, bigger, or louder, but it had such an impact.

  • @sbraypaynt

More incredible show don’t tell of the empire’s cruelty and arrogance.
That TIE pilot was on patrol, but saw an opportunity to terrorise a group of indigenous just for a laugh so they flew in low to the ground to spook them.
Just to remind them that they are in control, that the empire can fuck with you whenever they want.

This show really made the rebellion feel real. As it odd as it may sound it did for me. It showed that it wasn’t really unified. It had idealists, criminals, and true believers. Loved this show.

Me too. Because if a Warthog is that low and you're the enemy, it means you're time is cut short. If it's a raptor, he or she is just showing off.
Because if that pilot wanted you dead, you would have been so already.

If any of you have read Star Wars: Lost Stars, which I guarantee you haven't cus it's well....a romance novel, you would know that one of the main characters actually said it was a daily task for him to take his TIE out and scare people to remind them that they can't and shouldn't take on the Empire.

This show was epic. I remember people bitching online when it was announced. Then at star wars celebration they showed behind the scenes saying we are shooting this no different to a movie. All location huge sets no volume. It bloody shows. Andor and Rogue One are right now the best Disney Star Wars. Andor is brilliant 👏

Given how most of the time they spend parked in Hangers in imperial destroyers and only seem to come out during attacks.
