    I love this because after all of the nonsense post-credit scene escalation of the past decade, Andor just does something remarkably understated with its post-credit scene. I love how we always get TIE fighters patrolling for the atmosphere in these scenes but it doesn’t really make any sense for them to be there. This whole system and any adjacent systems must surely be the most secure in the whole galaxy. I guess you could argue, “how do you think you secure a system other than with patrols” but I’m just not sure you need to patrol by literally flying between the bits being built. Surely the goal with this would be that no one should even get within visual range of the station. The patrols would be way further out

    • @Naz_0117
      @Naz_0117 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      They probably do have them further out. But then again this is the empire’s greatest weapon so I wouldn’t put it past Palpatine or the empire to say put more patrols around the weapon for added security.

    • @CommunityFan
      @CommunityFan ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Scarif is still a Military installation, having military Patrols makes sense. Plus, the death star can't always defend itself just with its defenses, still needs a defense fleet. And I doubt the station is armed rn, probably just engineers atm

    • @lexark
      @lexark ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@CommunityFan Exactly. We see in A New Hope what happens to the Death Star when you don't provide an actual fleet. That's the biggest issue with that movie - not only do we need to believe that, somehow, a squadron of X-Wings made the run and blew it up, but that hardly any countermeasures were deployed. We saw an equivalent number of fighters deployed by the Arrestor Cruiser in Andor against Luthen. And yeah, blah blah "its the Empire's arrogance on display," but in reality it's stupid. Even Tarkin isn't that arrogant and dumb. A larger fleet was deployed to prevent the plans from being destroyed than the one deployed to prevent the Death Star from being blown up (three TIE fighters!). Having TIEs patrol the Death Star makes sense, especially given the planet is most likely Scarif, which like you said, is a military installation.

    • @Wendigo_Rye
      @Wendigo_Rye ปีที่แล้ว

      Well maybe some bandits would want to steal some valuable parts. Corusunt has an alien underworld on their home planet, with that scene with Luthen and the ISB spy. Aliens were more dominant below than above because the humans in the empire believe they’re superior.

    • @CommunityFan
      @CommunityFan ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lexark Tarkin is quite literally that dumb is the thing. He believed that the Empire could win with a huge battle station and a Navy full of ISDs, which is what his Doctrine put in place.
      He was arrogant and cocky. The Empire did have a fleet at Yavin, just didn't deploy it until the Death Star exploded.
      But yeah, the death star did have a defense Fleet and TIE Squadrons, just they weren't always used.

I feel this was a very enjoyable end to an excellent series that delivered far more story detail to the entire universe than I was expecting; I can watch this post credits scene over and over again
