I've been just bivvying without the tarp but the sun just blasts me awake very early in the morning, I'm just going to have to get to grips with my 3x3m folded in half. You're doing brilliant for 62, I'm a decade younger than you, and I struggle with the weight of the kit, and the water, but I need coffee, but I have to stop frequently gasping for breath! I don't care - getting out in my bivvy is helping me traverse feelings of grief and loss. I'm looking forward to getting fitter and out more with greater technical proficiency. I just love being outside at night! Thanks for another top video - at least I can see how to set out a little camp if I can't actually set up a little camp - I just lie there like a slug in my bivvy bag!
Hi and thanks for watching, I have been like a slug many a time !!! Pin half the tarp to the floor then you have the other half to bring up to your poles, I will demonstrate with a 3x3 on one of my next camps Tarp keeps some sun off in the morning Cheers
Wonderful views out there. So many choices to camp at. Nice to get the heart pumping while enjoying the walk. Sometimes I just like hearing the rhythm of my steps.
Hi and thanks for watching, it’s a nice location for sure miles and miles to explore, I suppose small in comparison to your national parks, Can you get away with over night camping anywhere in your parks ? Cheers
@@northumberlandmountainhopper Definitely with national forests or Bureau of Land Management (BLM) areas here. There may be permits required depending on the location. It's a pretty far drive for me so I mostly go to a local state park where I can set up almost anywhere.
Another cracking video Adrian, such stunning views, I've got my Dutch hooped bivvy all packed, ready for heading north tomorrow, 3 nights ahead of me, 3 different locations, absolutely can't wait ,your videos never fail to inspire, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig
@northumberlandmountainhopper got plenty of spots marked off Google earth, have my os maps too, but after all that, may just follow on what you said this camp, just go and see where your car/legs take you lol, great advice, be nice weather for a coastal camp too, was going barbel fishing this evening, but it's 25'c ,here in notts, bright sunshine, too hot for em ,early night atb craig
Hi Graham, it’s a great unspoiltspot, with no one to upset the camp, With a pillow head space is tight, you will have to try mine for size Cheers till our next one, what dates ? Cheers Adrian
love the the coquet valley 👌i tend to park further up the valley. wedder leap , trows road end or blindburn & up onto the border ridge . look forward to your next video 👍
Hi and thanks for watching The furthest I go is blindburn and not often as I don’t like the bits going around the wooden bridges on blind corners, have met too many racers !! So many parts to yet explore so lucky Cheers
Magnificent spot you have found. Looks on screen as though you could spend many happy camps in that area. Thank you for sharing. Stay well, stay safe. Helen and Katarin Juska-Law, stella and Terri with Robyn
Hi and thanks for watching, honestly the Cheviots are massive and coming in from this side the choice is amazing, will never get fed up and will never have enough time !!!! Thanks Cheers
Nice one Adrian. Funny about the cow issue. I would recommend staying calm and waving arms and poles but assertive not aggressive, to look bigger. These incidents are statistically quite rare. More people are killed in the bath tub than by cows. The vast majority of incidents occur in enclosed areas involving farm workers. The next most common is where a Walker has a dog. I’d love to know what the details are in each instance. In all my 60 years on the fells I’ve never had an incident. Mind you I can read cattle well. My mum and dad both grew up in the dales.
Hi and thanks for watching, yes rare I know but it can happen, I find young bulls are over inquisitive and get too close !!! I have been chased when walking in the countryside with my jack russels, yet they are not much of a threat, best to stay clear in my case !!! Cheers
Hi Dave, I may have to use it more often. It seems quiet in the valley but the Alwinton green was rammed,so many choices from the valley I will return, closer as well aways a bonus Cheers
Great new spot. Perfect setup and topped off with sweet and sour egg fried rice... blissful stuff, Adrian. It was freezing up north this weekend, to be fair. I was up the Lake District, near Ullswater camping. This was a perfect watch after a long drive back 👌
really wanna try your style of camping and have wanted to for a while (tarp and bivi) but can never do it without some kind of bugnet/mesh tent for the slugs, midges tics etc. youre solid mate been watching for a while love it
Hi and thanks for watching glad you are inspired, if you enjoy the bivy there is no going back, Watch my video tarp and bivy in a Northumberland forest ends in catastrophe last September Shows a bug net, mind I was still savagely bitten !!!!! Cheers
Hi and thanks for watching I was sceptical but honestly if you can live with the small space around your head it’s fantastic no draughts it’s excellent Cheers
@@northumberlandmountainhopper yes don't mind the claustrophobic space... I have normal bivvi bags , and my favourite is the ex-army just a little heavy , bulky but no condensation. @@littlegrandadoutdoorsha ha know how you feel, mind the hooped bivy at 1.5kg is nearly double the British army bivy, I don’t mind as with a light tarp it’s still sub 2 kg Cheers
@@northumberlandmountainhopper I wouldn't actually be too bothered about taking the pole... with my bag and boots inside the bivvy I don't see the need. I am under 6ft so could put my boots at the bottom, bag at the top.
Still strong winds in the south. Waiting to try out my new Dutch Army Tent, 3 by 8 , one up from a bivi. Going to cover the canvas with my British Army Basha 7x8.
