Thanks Lance, that was interesting. I was somewhat concerned regarding the movement between the bearing hub and collar. The existing bearings appear to be in good condition, so I'm not going to dismantle for a looksee. Just installing the sure-seals and setting the axle clearance. I will now rush out to the garage and take some measurements. TTFN/CDC

Now then Lance.....seeing this reminded me of an incident with sweated on collars holding half shafts in.
Early 70s we had a CA Bedford workbus (van with seats and windows) that we used to take the engines. Well this one had a great engine, did 90mph indicated. The route to Hull to deliver took us over a small dip in the road. There was a double bend either side with a crossroads at the bottom. One day with 8 engines onboard I went down the dip ok, but up the other side I lost drive. Applied brakes, none. Handbrake, nothing. Not wanting to try to negotiate backwards about 30??mph I turned for the hedge. It stopped it with only a cracked back light glass. What had happened was the collar had moved allowing the half shaft to come out of the diff, and the brake drum off the linings. Bit of a bum clenching moment I can tell you.

Yes this is a petrol tractor we are restoring it is a 1948 TEA20 but the engine was done before I started doing videos so no engine work until the next one.

Lance, Question. I have just started having a squeak when I rock one rear wheel on my 1952 tef Do you think it could be the end float shims,? other wheel is fine. What do you think.? TIA Cheers jim

I have had that and it was the brakes, try adjusting it up and see if it changes of pop the drum off and look for a broken spring.

I had my daughter try and purchase some Sparex bearing/seal kits and she told me she couldn’t purchase from Sparex, cause she was told, in order to purchase online, she needed to have a commercial account. What gives ?

You need to buy through the dealer network they have dealers in most places but are wholesale only.
