I did realize this after I uploaded the video. Should have made it very clear, #notsponsored by VRCover. I just really enjoy their products and used them even before I started TH-cam. I don't know what it is, I think it's where I find the quality is very good on them. However that doesn't change the fact that you could probably find some nice pleather interface on aliexpress and get the same experience 😀

This might be an urgent bug for oculus quest one, I've already reported it. If you use the screenshot shortcut on the oculus quest one after a recent update, not only will it not work, it will vanish your menus. if this isn't just a bug on my quest, you might need to add a warning over your screenshot comment that it may be bugged.
I have had this happen on 2 accounts now. it happened on my login, then I added shared accounts, then tried to take a screenshot and it happened on the second account too. that's how I worked out the cause. no idea if it happens in the quest 2.
the menus disappear when the universal menu does, the only way to use the browser on my account now it with the universal menu up at all times.
It's great for looking around your home, but I haven't yet found a way to reverse it.

Quick tip for the link folks, GET A CHIP CLIP. A chip clip is a much cheaper way of keeping the cable out of your way compared to a pulley system. If you get motion sick on a headset DON'T get rid of it or sell it...you will build a immunity to motion sickness over time but if you hate motion sickness put a weak or strong breeze (from like a fan) in a direction you want to face but keep it out of your guardian and it helps tremendously with the motion sickness or the bootleg version play on a different terrain than the floor of the room
eg; play on a rug if your floor is laminated
This helps also with keeping you from moving without noticing, something even veterans can't help so save your self from repairing a wall (Yes your wall will break and the controllers will be fine if they hit one another).

    • @ryangaming8280
      @ryangaming8280 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Yes, the range for the 2.4g band is farther than the 5g band, but the router combines them into one name which will show up in the android settings as one network, yet with 2 different Mac addresses. The device will show up as connected to one network, when in reality it is connected to the strongest (and in most cases the most powerful) network. This feature does come with different names like you said.

The top head strap gives you pretty good support and avoid smashing the headset against your face giving you hot spots very soon before you even start the game, the issue is that it gives you an inverted mowhawk if you have an extended session.
I use a beanie, im not sure about thin ones but the one I have is a little thick and sits right above my eye brows which allows me to sit most of that headset on my forehead, reliving most of that pressure from my face.
I do have a pro strap with battery, it isn't working for comfort or counterbalance even if I have a comfort kit and I might switch over to the regular strap with vrpower battery which has move power and the perfect weight balance.

Eventually I found out that I could push slightly on the inside of the lenses and adjust the settings to roughly match my eyes. It wouldn’t stay like that though so what I did is take a pink Paper Mate eraser and cut the ends off of it well it was just a little bit wider than the space in between the lenses. I have it stuffed in between the lenses and it holds them at the perfect distance apart for my eyes. Be sure not to let it cover up the proximity sensors on the inside of the headset though.

One thing i would recommend if you wear glasses is Vr Wave lenses. You just snap the adapters onto the Quest 2 lenses and the prescription lenses hold on with magnets, so they are easy to take off and clean, or to share the headset. They also make non prescription lenses which protect your quest lenses and you can get anti glare and blue light filtering as well. For me, they were a life saver, as my new glasses were a snug fit and I already had to get one replacement cus they broke, and I feel the headset might of been part of the cause. It also causes the frames to bend cus it presses so hard against my glasses, and caused pain and discomfort. After like 10 mins the pain would be so bad I had to take a break. So overall I highly recommend VR wave for anyone who needs lenses. Their customer service is also fantastic. Chinese people always seem so kind when they talk to you, least the ones I talked to, so that's a plus. 4 days after ordered, they were installed on my headset. 5/5 must buy.

I have tested this several times. and i can say that, although Virtual Desktop and Air Link say is not good practice, we can use a dedicated Wi-Fi6 for both the computer and quest 2.
It actually works better because your quest will be using 1200Mbps connection speed and the computer can use 1400Mbps instead of the 1Gbps that the cable provides. They both need to be Wi-Fi 6 (802.11AX), you must have a computer with a 160Mhz wifi card, disable 2.4Ghz network, and only have the computer and quest 2. you can have a phone or 2 but they have to be idle.
I have played many games and didn't have any issues and i had less network latency.

If you don't have a lot of space to move in, get REAL familiar with your surroundings before you go in VR. For Wired Sessions, you don't necessarily need a full pully system, but at least one strap keeping the cable up and away from your feet will help so much. A big one, amazingly enough, try out air link before you go running out to buy a new router specifically for wireless VR. I was pleasantly surprised to find the relatively crap AC router my ISP gave me 3 years ago actually just works flawlessly, and no real discernable lag or quality drop, even with the bitrate cranked. Sometimes things just work.

Some games have physical mod adapters available for your controllers to mimic the feel of whatever device you are wielding in VR. Find out out if there is one for your favourite game through a discord channel associated with your game. So for instance, I play Eleven Table Tennis. There are mods that turn your controller into the feel of a paddle and is configurable in the game options. Or there are rifle and gun mods for shooting/war games. Many such adapters are on Etsy or similar. Make sure to purchase for Quest 2 and not the first Quest because the controllers are different. If playing a very physical game, have a fan blowing at you to reduce fogging on lens. Brilliant beginners video btw!

So I have a small ish Play space and a lot of times just reaching my arms out will make the gardian appear, despite my head not moving or getting close to the boundary. I have found a setting that allows you to adjust the sensitivity of the gardian for the controllers and the headset individually. I recommend turning the controller sensitivity all the way down so your hands don't trigger the gardian as much. I just kidda wish you could disable the gardian apearing when you hand gets close completely. That would be truly amazing

Just a tip, just because you have the boundary set up doesn't mean you won't hit anything. Make sure to leave a gap in between the boundary and the wall/furniture. Additionally, MAKE SURE TO SET UP THE BOUNDRY AN ARMS LENGTH FROM ANY TV/COMPUTER MONITOR PERIOD. You do not want to be the guy/girl who smashes his or her fist through the family room tv or your own computer monitor.

I am fairly new to Oculus Quest 2 but overall not new to VR itself. I have been using Valve Index since launch but have to say the quest 2, for my purpose, is better. Why? Because Wireless gaming.
Now to the recommendation. For everyone who is comfortable with the standard strap, as I am, but need a bit more of position secure for the back of your head I can easily recommend you a head back padding. I am using one from AMVR but there are surely more out there. It's a flimsy circular shaped strap which is mounted on the back of the standard strap. It's comfortable even if you want to sleep in VR since it's soft and flimsy.
Another recommendation: Buy a VR Headset stand and/or a Quest 2 suitcase. I for myself bought a suitcase just to protect it and put it away while I'm not playing VR.
A recommendation related to the controller: The batteries will last long enough but I recommend buying rechargeable once with a battery recharge station.
Software wise I recommend Virtual Desktop if you also want to play PCVR wirelessly. I tried the Oculus Airlink but couldn't get better or even the same performance and quality of it. Maybe it's just for my case.
Oh and another thing to say. Get a power bank. I was happy that I had one. I didn't noticed how the time passed until I got the warning of low battery.
With this I am done with recommending stuff. I am really happy with the Quest 2 and prefer it over the Index.
Have a good day/night and stay safe !

Got the original Quest, you're really making me want a Quest 2, so many features, and finding a good headstrap for the Quest has been a nightmare of a chore. (Still looking)
I am very tempted to get a Quest 2, even if I have to sell my soul to Facebook. I meant privacy, not soul..
I have played a few times in my garden, at night time, around 11pm.. My quest also works in the dark, weirdly enough.. I am impressed of the durability of the controllers though, I've had it since 2019, bashed them against walls, the headset (don't ask) and eachother, and there's no damage, maybe a scratch or two.
I can agree, use wipes to clean the lenses, and if you have a way to keep your glasses away from the lenses, do it. My Quest's lenses are covered in scratches, curse my bad eyes.. :(

The thing about the headstrap is it cant be tight with out putting a very painful presure on your head because it doesnt have padding, its like putting a fat rubber band around your head, think of the rubber band and watermelon challenge just less extreme but thats what it feels like.

I left mine plugged in over night last night and it occurred to me that was stupid as hell. Wouldn’t it be nice if an upgrade included a kind of “charging kill switch” so no matter how long you left the charger on it would kill once you hit 100%?
