I’m working on my ABSN prerequisites. This video makes me so excited for nursing school! I love how excited you are about how your growing understanding of things we encounter in our daily lives. I can totally see myself being the same way!
It is definitely very exciting and I'm honestly shocked by how quickly time has flown by! Congratulations on your nursing school journey! I'm sure you'll do great in your prerequisites and will get accepted into an ABSN program. I'm speaking it out into existence for you!
Hi Tiff! So initially I thought that I wanted to become a physical therapist since I’m already a licensed PTA, but after working in the hospital and having the opportunity to shadow all of the providers, I quickly realized that nursing resonated with me the most. I decided to apply to an accelerated program shortly after and got in on my first try! NP school is something that I have in mind and am considering, but I still haven’t made a definite decision. But if I were to go for it, dermatology is definitely a setting that I would love to work in. Right now I’m focusing on finishing school strong, getting some experience, and becoming the best nurse that I can possibly be!
Many Congratulations!!! Best of luck for the next semester! I’m going to start my accelerated Nursing programme next week. I’m feeling quite nervous about all the clinical skills you have to learn. How many hours would you practise these skills during a typical week? Thanks
Congratulations on getting accepted into an ABSN program! Before the pandemic, I was told that my program allowed students to go to campus and practice in the skills lab. Unfortunately, I started the program in the middle of the pandemic when everything was still being held virtual. So it was up to each student to get enough practicing done on family and friends whenever possible, especially for the first semester when learning how to do general head-to-toe assessments! This semester we are finally going to in-person classes for the first time, so we'll see how it goes! For your first semester, I would say to definitely practice how to do a head to toe assessment as much as you can :)
Hi! So due to our current climate, some classes are being held online and some are being held in person. It all depends on the faculty's preference or on the policies that the school currently has in place. All of my clinical rotations are in person though since we need to complete a certain amount of hours in order to qualify to sit for the board exam. I would suggest you reach out to the programs that you are interested in and ask them directly how they are holding classes. Hope this helps!
@@NurseIvyRN oh I didn’t mean temporarily online courses due to covid rather meant if your absn degree plan originally had lectures designed to be online/hybrid and in person clinicals. There is a absn program I’m applying to that has that format and curious if thats a productive way to have the lectures in nursing school.
@@yodittx Hi! So my program is not a hybrid program. It is currently running that way due to the current state of things. Personally, I actually like taking certain classes online so that it saves me time with the commute. However, I know some people who are not a fan of taking online courses because they find being at home too distracting, so it honestly all boils down to what your preferences are. Do you think you can focus while at home? Do you feel like you pay more attention when you go to class on campus? These are definitely some of the things to take into consideration before applying!

Why did you decide to become an RN? Do you think you’ll eventually want to become a dern NP, considering your interests?

@@NurseIvyRN Great!!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate all the tips and advice :)
I’m looking into ABSN programs and curious if your lectures are online/hybrid? Wondering how that is in nursing school.

Pls wat school. Looking for a good absn? Is it online on site or hybrid ?
online and hybrid are bad choices, you will be self-taught.
