  • Progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) induces a relaxed physical state by intentionally contracting muscle groups and then relaxing them in a sequence. When the physical state is relaxed, it helps the mental state relax. PMR is commonly taught by psychologists as a means of reducing tension. It can help people get to sleep and can reduce feelings of tension.

Thank you so much! PMR is what works for me to release trauma from my body. Even though I live in an unsafe situation, I took the opportunity of being alone in the room (I live in a homeless shelter) to go through this exercise and managed to shed a few tears. I store a lot of tension in my shoulders, jaw and stomach. Living with two sociopaths, one overt and one covert compounds the already stress I feel from having had a mental breakdown due to workplace abuse so you can imagine how much this free resource (no ads!) comes in handy. Thank you again!
