  • How to grind flax seeds in 10secs in your kitchen and how to store your ground flax seeds for maximum nutrition. Flax seeds are a great source of the omega 3 ALA so here's how to grind flax seeds quickly and easily.
    let’s look at how to grind flax seeds and how to store them to preserve those omega3s
    add a few tablespoons in your blender, grind for a few seconds, until it’s a fine powder. how do we store it? No point grinding the seeds so we can get all the nutrients, if they just degrade right after.
    Grinding increases the nutrition we can get from the seeds and ground flax seeds are stable at room temperature up to at least 4months. Some people grind their flax seeds fresh every day. We can grind a whole batch.
    Or buy it pre-ground. Flax seeds are so rich in omega 3s that 1 tbspoon covers daily needs of ALA, the essential omega3 we need to get from our diet.
    So that’s how we grind flax seeds and store them, here’s info on grinding chia seeds and more on omega 3s in general.

    Dear Gil
    thank you for all the good videos
    regarding flax seeds and that the benefit is bigger when ground, I am surprised that nobody mentions the most obvious and easy way to grind flax seed for more health benefit, that is, grinding it with your teeth...
    to get my daily dose of ground flax seed I simply put a tablespoon or teaspoon into my mouth and chew on it a while and swallow it down
    and it does taste fairly good to me, so I don't need lengty grindings with some machines and storing with a certain risk of spoil and so on
    just chew and swallow it man 🙂
    I think it has the same effect as with grinding

    Do you think thoroughly chewing the flaxseeds would have a similar result to grinding them? In the cited studies it seems they were putting them into other foods like muffins or applesauce and I imagine that would result in them getting swallowed mostly whole. I like to eat them plain, just as a snack, and I chew them until they're complete mush in my mouth, which I imagine wouldn't be much different from grinding them?

    • @RSole9999
      @RSole9999 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Absolutely better than machine grinding. There's no exposure to oxygen when ground by your teeth and no oils are lost to cutting blades. If it's chewed until a paste it's also has a major digestive juice (saliva) mixed into it in preparation for stomach juices to take over. This is how our digestive system has evolved to get the most benefit from food.

    • @logans3365

      It’s harder to chew them all then you think though, Iv been trying and even with my best efforts some still makes it’s way right through you.
      My idea would be possibly to just crush them with a motor and pestle, keeping them whole as best you can, just crack them so they break apart during digesting.
