Glad you appreciated my advocating people to move away from SuperFoods but to look at their eating habits more holistically by focusing on learning, building and choosing regularly from a Super Pantry instead!

Healthy eating and financial management should be taught in all schools around the world. The reason they don't focus on these is due to them making so much money from people in debt and eating crap foods. Can you imagine how many businesses would go bust if everyone was educated on how to eat healthily and manage their money.

Thanks for the video. I have always seen people suggest that chia seeds should be consumed in whole form soaked overnight so I've been wondering if grinding them would be a good idea or not.
I definitely agree with your philosophy. People usually set very high expectations from superfoods while they should just be added to our everyday food as normal food. I too have been one of those people who expected my health and energy levels to change drastically once I started incorporating superfoods but thankfully now I'm able to manage my expectations in a better way.

Hi, Thanks for dropping by my channel and sharing your experience. I personally prefer using Ground Chia Seeds for drinks, because it is (1) quicker and more convenient and (2) I enjoy that more. Yes, the 'Superfoods' focused mindset can become a distraction sometimes and I often have to do a lot of coaching and counselling to get people to focus on improving their lifestyle and diet holistically and not just focus on 'Superfoods'. According to my dentist, avoid Seeds which are not good for the health of teeth! Although I use whole seeds I think Ground Chia Seeds may be better for absorption and healthier for the teeth! I like the idea of using both Whole and Ground Chia seeds. I would buy a bag of each, Whole and Ground seeds.

Hmmm...I personally can see why they'd be called super foods though. If your goal is to maintain a healthy omega 3 to 6 ratio, the small amount of chia seeds required to do so is extremely impressive. They're virtually flavorless, can be blended in to anything without really noticing them and they're not terribly expensive. They really pack a punch if you have a specific goal and don't want to consume excess calories.

    • @august4633
      @august4633 ปีที่แล้ว

You have to ground them to absorb the omega 3 though. Most people don’t seem to realize this.

Yes - I also eat a lot of seeds for bfst - mixed with homemade apple sauce - GRIND ‘em for sure - it’s the first step of the digestion process - like cooking - But only grind as much as you will eat today - if the ground seed sits around a lot of things happen like oxidation and evaporation of the oils they contain - or the oils may become rancid…?

I read that chia seeds absorb a lot of water, so if used with dry foods they will pull water from your intestines. so I soak the seeds for 20 minutes. The water turns to gelatin. If they are this permeable they shouldn't need to be ground I assume the gelatinous quality means they will be protective of our intestines in addition to their other health benefits.

    Hey Dr Chan
I started a way of eating vegan. I eat this everyday. can u tell me if this diet is okay or if I'm missing something. so here what I eat everyday
I wake up and drink a 8 oz glass of water with a
    Half lemon and
1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar
    then ten minutes later
I have glass of carrot Juice
    Then 1 hour later
I have a plate of fruit
    Canalope pineapple and oranges
    Then 1 hour later
I have brocoli tomatoes mushroom peppers onions with 1 tbsp of flaxseed mixed in with a whole grain tortilla
    Then 2 hours later
I have another glass of carrot Juice
    Then 2 hour later
I have butternut squash spinach and corn with 2 tbsp of chia seeds in my dish.
    Then I have green tea
Then I take aspirin and water and go to bed and that's it. Is this enough nutrients for one day? Is it healthy enough? And is it okay to put my ground chia seeds in my stir fry while cooking or does this kill the nutrients? Please help I'm trying to get healthy I just found a tumor in my neck although it's not cancer I don't want it to turn into and want to get rid of it the best way I know how ...eat good. I have a question and i hope you can help me with it. How is beneficial for human body to eat chia seeds, or quinoua or sesame, or other tipes of seeds which we cannot break and they are intact when we go to the toilette? The seeds still can germinate so i don't know how is posibile for me to beneficiate from those seeds in that case? What is the philosophy of the seeds digestion in human body? I couldn't find anything on the internet about this, or i don't know how and what to search. Thank you very much for your answer.

Hi Dr. Chan, @The Habits Doctor
    I have a question:
If I'm doing fasting, I'm in fasted state. Then, I drink one or two tablespoon of chia seeds with a glass of plain water.
Is this break the fasting or not?

With ground chia seeds I would keep this in the freezer just like I do with ground flaxseed.

Flax seeds have been shown to lower Testosterone. Has there been a link of Chia seeds affecting this or other hormones as well?

I don't know of anyone roasting Chia seeds before consumption, whether whole or grind. Most people would not roast Chia seeds, even though Chia seeds are often used in cooking or baking. Hope this helps. Thanks for dropping by my channel. Cheers, Doc

Shouldn’t chia seeds be soaked in the liquid - leave for a few minutes? Instead of drink “immediately”?

I have read that whole chia seeds will not be absorbed in the intestine, our body cannot break them. Only way is to ground them or use them fully hydrated. Is it true?

    • @TheHabitsDoctor

We can absorb nutrients from eating Chia Seeds, whether we eat them whole, pre-soaked or ground, but the degree may be different, I made a video on whether to grind Chia Seeds or not >> th-cam.com/video/gAQsve9ct8g/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps

Doctor, Can we buy cleaned chia seeds at the market? Because we couldn't wash and dry chia seeds at home. then it become like jelly.

Chia seeds do get very “jelly” like when you add liquid. I didn’t like chia seed pudding for that reason. But after adding coconut, nuts, and mixed berries to it, I now love it. I’m a stickler for texture and chewing chia seed pudding helps take away the sliminess. I also use heavy cream instead of water.

Powdered along with roasted peanuts is awesome for pizza crust; I'm fat adapted with high metabolism so my body burns those unsaturated non-animal fats as fuel.
