Does it grind items in its inventory? Does melee affect its resource rate as a grinder?
the drafting happens when youre near flyers cuz the trop (thats what im calling it) benefitz from flyers flapping their wings i guess which make them faster than most flyers also you didnt try trop against crystal wyvern cuz those things i think are way faster than normal wyvern
When you’re using the tropeo (tropeognathus) use the grenade launcher to lob tek grenades or tranq grenades at enemies

the drafting is in the airstreams of dinos! so its basically for speeding up when chasing other tropeos
or catching up to that bob on his level 20 ptera and blowing him to the next universe
OR make a formation with your friends who are also riding some tropeo and wreck enemy bases, trust me

Works on anything larger than a duck. Pteranadons and larger will allow you to use the slipstream boost. You can see the effect behind flyers. You do not have to be directly behind them, they just need to be in front of you, roughly on your screen. Seems to also work over canyons, like in the video, he was flying over a canyon and I get it over the entire wyvern scar on Ragnarok even if no wyverns are in the section I'm passing.
It is fantastic for kiting female wyverns into traps for milkmaid servicing. You are sometimes too fast and have to go get their attention again (grenades come handy in this).

@@xblsplodin960 they won't nerf it, it's movement is all it has going for it, the grenades are pretty meh, sucks for us console players, just gonna mcspawn one in. the one thing they hopefully change with the console release is the sounds, the thing looks intimidating but it sounds like a tapejar, just hope they do that

"Drafting" is a technique where wind resistance is lessened or eliminated. It is likely the drafting icon comes up when you are traveling in the direction of the wind speed or behind another trop

Have yet to use this new dino, but my guess is that the drafting works similarly in real life, basically, if you're flying behind something, you fly with less resistance thus faster, drafting are used in different races.

The draft icon pops up when your around other fliers u kinda using the wind they are creating to boost yourself

Yes cover other dinos if you can! These videos definitely helped me, and with so many dinos in the game it would be able to see all their abilities through this format rather than reading a wiki

I love to use the new boost as cruise control, I'll set him boosting in the direction I want then open my inventory and he just keeps going. So nice for long distance travel 😎

Quick tip drafting will always work behind a flying Dino, I did some testing, and when you fly behind one you will get the draft, this can be seen in the video as well during the speed comparison, on the pterodon

My fuse on the drafting is it works on places with usually up draft so beaches, and canyons. The other part of it is the drafting is also available when in a slip stream. So if say a wayvern is flying if you draft somewhere behind it you get extra speed.

I realize this is an old vid but as someone who just started using it and with ASA possibly drawing new attention, picking up players with the Tropeo is actually VERY useful, as it shreds armor extremely quickly. (Which is why it's balanced with the escape function.) It shreds so well in fact that you can use the Tropeo as a portable Industrial Grinder. Not as effectively, but it's an option for on the go trap making or inventory junk clearing. As for the drafting, I'm not 100% but I believe it works similarly to the wind turbines in that it's wind strength based, so certain areas are much more optimal that others.

I found a high level one of these on fjordur and got excited when I knocked it out super fast and then was very quickly disappointed when I realized it’s NOT a knock out tame.. 🤦♀️ I had never heard of them despite watching hundreds of hours of ark content for over a year.. oh well, I left defeated lol

The "Draft" ability comes from other flying dinos. If you're flying behind something like a ptera or an argy you'll see it come into play more often, so about 100% of the time you'll just want to hold that jump button, which basically fits into the role that it was supposed to be. It's inconsistent, but some tiny flyers like the jug bugs also make draft - but something like vultures won't make draft.
Drafting is typically when you follow behind someone else so you don’t take the primary wind resistance, they do and you can utilize that to gain speed over them. People should try that utilization of that and see if it works
But for real tho are you using a texture mod or some awesome depth of field cuz this gameplay looks nice!
I feel that if you test flyer speed, you should also test against the Pheonix’ boost. As I’m fairly certain it is faster than a wyvern
It would be awesome to see you cover older dinos and see where they fit in the meta or if they're basically redundant now

He actually missed some things. He chews up armor pretty well and makes it lose durability real quick and also it can be used as an industrial grinder.

the melee attack is boosted by the saddle but the ranged attack isnt.
the armor stays at 25 even if the saddle is ascendant
the dino has a unique ability to destroy flak easily with its bite, despite its low damage i feel it will be used for picking up players and eating their flak while they struggle to escape (hence the escape mechanic)
I suggest you test this dino against enemies that have flak, in addition to armored/saddled dinos to test the armor penetration aspect of the melee bite.

Does anyone know how to turn off the jet on console besides dismounting or removing the gas from its inventory? I’ve tried like every button combination.

I think higher quality saddles do increase the damage on the gun. When I spawned in some ascendent saddles, all had the standard 25 armor but they all have a damage percentage that went as high as 500%. However I did not test primitive saddle so I’m not sure if the percentage is actually being applied.
Fun tame, playing on an unofficial cluster with flying speed skillup unlocked, 200% speed is awesome. Gonna push my next one to 250 maybe even 300
Drafting is for A. Catching up to other dinos by using their slipstream to move more quickly and B.can be used when above hot areas because little known fact when air is heated it becomes more kinetically charged which means the molecules are moving quite quickly this lowers the effect of vanderwaals forces on the air making it lighter and pushing it up toward the atmosphere which then cools it creating an updraft many gliding birds use this concept to stay in the air longer using the updrafts created when hard ground like concrete is heated in hot places or on hot days knowing this makes the drafting ability more reliable

The drafting is based on if there are flyers in front of you, basically, if there is a flyer in front of you or on the screen you can draft

It would be awesome if there would be a alt saddle that makes it have a basic machine gun with explosive bullets (also flying is changed to resemble the tie fighters/x wings)

the drafting works anywhere on the map, look at it more like slipstreaming, the reason you can't use it indefinately is due to the fact that you need another flier in range, flying around, to draft of it's winds.
and your forgot to mention that the tropeo is supposed to work like a portable grinder, although i tested this on official servers and doens't seem to work yet.
This will be great if you're trying to clear bob bases off server. I wonder if you can hit players while they're riding things like gigas with the grenades. If you can shred armor with grenades then this will be a huge game changer
With the drafting its supose to be used by flying by other flying dinos and you can use there draft to boost your speed without actually using your speed boost. Just fly close to a flying dino and u will see the draft available icon on the screen u can then use it and keep going by more flyers to keep boosting your speed instill your at max speed or where you want to be lol, if thst makes sence

Yo thick, the draft can work on medium to large fliers and use them as a quick slingshot, just aim at the wind trail behind them

Somewhat hoping we can use the grenade thing out of boost, and can exchange grenades for something else. Ir maybe a tek saddle offering a tek rifle strapped on.

Main problem with a tropeogaphas is that for some reason there's a glitch where it makes the crossair go off to the side. Don't understand why but it makes aiming really difficult cause you can't tell if your shot will hit or not
How do you deactivate the jet booster. I can't stop flying unless I jump off.
Did you test to see if its grenade attack can kill players off dinos specifically when players are riding gigas?
How do I land after I activate jet mode? Or how do I turn it off because the only way I can land is by dismounting (Console controls)
How does it compare against a mana or bogspider?
