Oh, I am so tired of hearing this nonsense. How did you forget to say the musicians in your time did not need Autotune? That usually comes into the geezer rant at some point.
As a teen in a small rural town, when I discovered the Beatles, my parents and all their generation dismissed them as not fit to stand in the shadow of the musical icons of their time. (Later, when we were driving in the car and Paul sang "Yesterday" on the radio, my Dad admitted he was wrong. That's one of the reasons that though he is long gone I'll always respect my Dad -- not many people have the character required to admit being wrong.)
Every generation by necessity chooses the sound that resonates best. By definition, other generations will not feel the same. How could they? What we experienced in our formative years will always be with us. And later, we will not be able to identify with other generations' favorites, because we heard them at a different stage of life.
Me, I'm a rocker and could never figure out rap. But I know better than to put it down. Rap comes from a place beyond my wildest imaginings as a teen. Just because I do not understand it doesn't mean it is sub-par. Only a self-entitled idiot would feel that way.

j.j. slows the world down to his own speed in a imperceptible millisecond kind of way.
finding your own voice and sticking to it will do that.
safe to say j.j. is a friend of god.

You see how JJ loves you Eric? JJ didn't want the spotlight. He enjoyed seeing you and other great musicians doing his stuff. How in the Hell did the world not know about this incredible man, JJ Cale. He did so much and gave so much to the world of music. RIP JJ!

This set in Fair Park the night before the big show in the Cotton Bowl was my favorite of the two days! Only time I saw J.J, Cale and it was as perfect as could be! The weather had cooled down with a steady breeze blowing at twilight. So much nicer environment than the 100,000 that packed the Cotton Bowl in the summer heat the next day.

Actually I think Eric was a little intimidated by J.J. Eric’s lead started well but petered out. I believe Eric was aware J.J. could convey more musicality playing fewer notes, always the sign of the master. I get the impression Eric did this gig to support J.J., whose health was not good at the time. All the more reason to be in awe of a guy like Clapton, being such a huge star and not letting it go to his head.

One of Claptons great influences n they enjjoyyss playing on this! His Wife Christine has this smile n so infectious for her man! JJ Wrkfee some of this world's best contemporary blues songs n a lesson to the phoney glimmer n glamour of today's young Artists! Every song vhe ever wrote was top 10 but he wasn't one to seek limelight just genuinely happy making others happy! Rip JJ your songs will live on n never fade, away! Saw u over 50 years ago in Melbourne Australia u lit uo my night n 50 years later still light up my life! My sincere sympathies to Christine. she is so lovely n now here huge loss! Stay strong Christine u were married to the best!
