The Science of Taking Action | Steve Garguilo | TEDxCarthage

  • Over the past two years, Steve has studied with psychologists, sociologists, anthropologists, neuroscientists, and drill sergeants to learn about the science of taking action and what sparks people or holds people back. After being involved in the TED community and a lot of design thinking work, Steve was tired of talking about ideas, so he went on a journey to understand how to take more clear, specific action on ideas, and learned how to create a bias towards action so that it becomes a norm.
Steve Garguilo works with people from all walks of life from all over the world to help them make their ideas happen. He led the revolution to transform the culture of the 5th largest company in the world by instigating and shaping a global grassroots movement at Johnson & Johnson that engaged 23,000 employees and led to countless stories of product and people development. In February 2017, he released his Amazon Bestselling book, Surge: Your Guide to Put Any Idea into Action. His company Action Surge focuses on helping people take clear, specific actions on ideas.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

    1) Action is a muscle, the more you Excercise it, it becomes easier
    2) We tend to decide time later for things, but the right time is when you take that 1st step
    3) Actionstorm: Surge of ideas for some one elsess work
    4) How can I push up my brand?

I'm watching this Silvester 2019. In the last decade, I've been a no-action taker. learning things, procrastinating, fake action. Above all things that I want to do/become in the new decade, it's to take action. Without it, there will be nothing.

    ACTION IS A MUSCLE.
i'm sitting here and thinking, it mostly boils down to habit just like everything else.
DON'T SET OUT TO DO IT LATER.
saying you'll do it later becomes a habit, we try to stay in our comfort zone but we need to get in the habit of getting out of it.
*commit to taking action right now*
Don't make it bigger than it is.
IT IS EASIER TO COME UP WITH IDEAS WHEN IT IS FOR OTHERS
*Action storming* generating actions for other's ideas
*Every in life that is hard is made of a series of easy tasks, just take the first step.*
    COMMIT TO YOURSELF.

I think it's important to notice that those people who demonstrated the success by taking action, they don't j u s t taken action, the action was accompanied by inspiration and desire, i.e. really great positive feelings. The action had not been taking from the place of fear, anxiety, low-self esteem, and so on, because what ever action you will take which is based on the self-limiting negative beliefs in the long term is a short lived. If we think from the perspective - change your mind (or state of Being) and your reality will change accordingly, we can say that - change your beliefs and thoughts and your actions will be really productive which will produce joy and satisfaction for yourself and most importantly for others.

Action, action and action causes burn outs. This is a very old perception. Take action with the right authentic plans. What is suitable for you and what makes you happy. Understand and discover your WHY. This is very important. Not all advises and ideas of others are suitable for YOU.

Actually Insha'Allah is not the word procrastination. It means by the permission of Allah. Because not a leaf moves without Allah's permission. As Muslims, we don't use this word to gloss over things. We use it to mean that we can handle it with Allah's permission. Of course, first of all, we must strive for everything ourselves. However, no matter how hard we try, we know that nothing will happen unless Allah allows it. Of course, I have to admit that some Muslims use this word to gloss over things 🙂 After all, we are all human and we can make mistakes 🙂😊

I know this is late. Anyway, take action is usually used to refer to something not specific/general. On the other hand take an action used when you talk for example about the hard time you have to start going to the gym, and I say just take an action, which is going to the gym. Take an action is specific to one thing.

for litterally i take zero real action for 3 years that means doesnt take real action which is involved real person as i dont reach out directlly and personally to a person that makes me dont have any single freind and have zero chat, i dont earn any single money literally $0 because i dont take any real action of implement skills i have learned
but i takes so many mini comfort action such as so much studying learning a lot of skills but doesnt even implement them, read books, takes notes of them, think too much, plan strategiclly so much, workout, watch podcast youtube tutorials, and i am quite consistent and dicipline on it
but there all have no results because of zero real action
yeah it is so hard to take real action actually the hardest of all the things even i have known they why i must take action, the how and step by step, all the resources and knowledge have but it still deosnt get me to takes the real action
but despite of that i still have the strong belief of my skills, intteligence, strong will, goals would i pursue and i convince that i can acheive my biggest goals and i know i am great enough but the real action is so hard to takes
i dont know why this still happens as i read much of solutions on books and the internet about self sabotage, procastination, laziness, but still cannot take the real action
i think it is very easy to take action that doesnt involve person/people but it comes so hard when it involve people directlly, in that called real action
    can someone help me out?
