- Finally installing my Kunray 2000 Watt brushless motor and 48V controller kit on my Razor MX650. In this video, I'm showing you how everything is wired / hooked up. I'm still running the factory sealed lead acid batteries for now though since this is a budget build, though a bigger/badder battery is in line for the near future. Here's the exact kit I'm installing: amzn.to/3PtlGSV

Man you did a great job with this build! Can't wait for the test ride vid!
Thank you sir. You and me both!
Can’t wait to see it in action
Me neither LOL
Same setup, run perfect in the air but no tork on the ground!
What battery are you using? The BTR 48V battery I got had little output as far as amperage. The BMS was falsely advertised as 50 amps, turned out to only be 30 Amps. Swapped it out since then
@@PatOutdoors i use a 48v 10AH 30AMP li ion batt
Sup man, can’t wait to get mine in next week, subscribed
Thanks for the sub! And hope you like yours!
I'm think of adding to the relay, sub batter port wire and a small alauxiler battery with a switch 4 lights...
Very helpful and excellent explanation ❤
Excellent video.. Your best walk through yet, i think.. short and specicific.. You can also explain the different options on motor upgrades, voltages, battery options and limits... But otherwise... perfect info the RAZOR E-bike....
Thank you for your feedback. I'll actually go into more detail as I learn more with my upcoming builds.
Excellent video series on the Kunray kit. Been looking at upgrading an mx350. The stock throttle is on/off only. Does the throttle and controller in this kit offer a variable speed? Or is it on/off like the stock razor system?
Thanks! It’s variable speed. Definitely not bolt on for the MX350, but can fit with modifications to the bottom motor bracket
I like that work bench you got there :) I want to mount one to a mountain bike . I pronounce it (Koo-n-Ray) because i assume it is Asian word. American i would assume it is (Kun-Ray) LOL Love your Videos man. I seen a guy put VENT HOLES IN IT ALSO :) over heating prevention . :) Oh man it is going to be fast i bet.
Thank you sir! You may be right since it's made in china lol
Hey Pat, have you found a decent set of brake pads that last longer than the stock set you get with the MTB hydraulic conversion? My boy is going through pads like crazy!
Question - In another video I think you upgraded to Hydraulic Zoom brakes ? I dont see those brakes has Electrical power cutoff switch. Do we need regular hydraulics or with power cutoff switch built in ? Also this controlled has brake power cut off wiring ?
The switch is just to disable power to the motor when applying brakes. I never connect them on my bikes
Did the junction box come with the motor?
The junction box DID come with the controller, yes
hi i got this same kit that you got and when i got all done with it i plugged it in cuz it was dead and wheni did my charger didnt have any power goin into the bike but it work before i put the kit in.
Sounds like the charger is not wired correctly or have loose wiring connection
Is the sprocket nut reverse threaded? Can’t seem t😅 get that off to switch the sprocket.
Yes it is
Looks great! Do you have to have 48v of SLA batteries or is it possible to get away with 36v ones
Gotta have 48 volts to run a 48 volt set up
thanks :D@@PatOutdoors
Bro! If you upgrade to a 48v lithium battery it's a world of difference. Sorry if you already mentioned that. I haven't watched the entire video.
I can't wait for that upgrade actually! But I wanted to make sure I do a fair comparison between this kit and what I had before (Fast Scooters overvolt) so I'm temporarily leaving the SLA batteries in place to keep the baseline the same.
@@imfromwikipedia Thank you, please link it so I can take a look. Someone already recommended the "Lite Pack" that Electro & Co sells, but I'm also looking at the BTRPower 48V 20AH battery because it has a 50Amp continuous discharge rate: amzn.to/3RJo8WA
@@PatOutdoorsI kind of figured that after watching the video. Better to do it step by step, get data, and subscribers at the same time. I just did the same set up as you but with 36v lithium batteries on a MX400 LOL. I am waiting for the 48v batteries to finish the overvolt build. It was pretty fast with the 36v so we shall see...
@@PatOutdoors hey I’ll send the link once I get on my computer. I’m not sure if the 50A discharge rate will be reached because your controller only supports 33A
You might need to get a Kelly controller to get all of the power out of the battery pack
What do you use to edit? Your videos are so entertaining, well done 👏🏼
Thanks! iMovie (free version)
do you think this will work on the razor mx350?
If you can fit a small enough lithium battery that fits the frame
What drill bit size did you use to countersink the screws, do you remember, I couldn't tell in the vid. I didn't want to make the hole to big or anything.
So I just did this again on my other bike today (video being posted shortly) and I think 5/16" drill bit is the best size.
Did you have to solder any of the wires
Nope
how much ah's would it be if I got 4 mighty max batterys, and is it better to just get 1 48v battery?
(4) 12V 12AH Battery wired in a series is 48V 12AH. If you could afford it, just go straight to a 20+AH 48V Lithium battery pack
@@PatOutdoors thanks, how much range can the 4 batteries get you, and what 48v lithium battery do you recommend?
Wow that's Violent LMAO hahahaha
Do you have a video for the step down controller
Voltage step down converter install? Please check out my later videos with lighting. I have at least (4) that include that process
I need to know what charger you hvae i did this same thing snd every charger ive used has blown
48v sealed lead acid charger by fast scooters. Charge port wired directly to the controller.
Is the motor upgrade able to run with just the 36v? At least for a little while or should I get the 48v first
No, it will only run on 48-52V power supply
@@PatOutdoorsok thank you so much for replying fast 🙏 great channel! I love your bike content
What drill bit did you use?
at 5:09 you added the battery connector, how did you do that, where did you get the ends of it
I stole those connectors from the side cover (on/off switch wiring)
what battery are you using?
Sup pat 👍
where can i buy the yellow box for wires to connect?
It’s called a junction block: amzn.to/3RLm80R
ok cheers@@PatOutdoors
I would go lion lithium battery
Already did! 72V now
I have the same kit and I connect everything good and it turns on but when I try to charge it with the charger it does not work
Have you tested the wires between the charge port and the controller to see what voltage it reads?
@@PatOutdoors no I have not I will try that too
@@elicarroll5336 Also test out the output of the charger with a voltmeter. If you continue to have issues after confirming all connections, I suggest contacting the vendor you purchased it from if you’re still within the warranty period
Would it work on a mx500?
Yes, essentially same frame
How much
do you need to get a new battery
Need 48 volts to power a 48 volt controller
@@PatOutdoors can you use the stock battery's at all or should you get the battery that you have (fast scooter)
How do tou charge the bike
With a 48v fast scooters lead acid battery charger
Question, any reason why you couldnt just take the 2 screw out and leave the one in? The frame keeps everything togethar anyway right?
Tolerances within the frame and swing arm are not perfect. Motor internals can easily be damaged from slight misalignment if you don’t put all the bolts on the end caps.
