    In this video I will show will how we pronounce the letters in brazilian portuguese! You will see the brazilian alphabet and also learn some new words for each letter!

    X with an Sh sound, I've only encountered that in Asian languages; Y has the original Greek meaning; Silent H like French and Spanish; R with an H (English) sound, that one is going to hook me.

    Mas não encontrei em lugar ou dicionário nenhuns esta questão: o género das letras. Um A ou uma A? E são todos do mesmo género?

      Olá Yves! Muito obrigada, fico feliz que tenha ajudado!
      Sua pergunta é muito interessante! Em português, nos referimos as letras no masculino. Para escrever "avião", por exemplo, precisamos de um A, um V, um I, outro A e um O.
      Mas se você usar a palavra "letra" antes de mencionar a letra em questão, precisa usar o artigo feminino, porque "letra" é feminino. Usando novamente o exemplo de "avião", precisamos de uma letra A, uma letra V, uma letra I, outra letra A, uma letra O.

    Why is the W in Wladimir pronounced like V???

      Because this is how we pronounce W in Portuguese, mainly in names!
      Waldir = Valdir
      Wagner = Vagner
      Walkiria = Valkiria
