    Saw your Maser vids from way back! Thanks for doing the three-year update. Just watched Doug DeMuro vid on Gran Turismo and he loves it. A couple reviewers said it had the best steering of any car. I’m super happy it’s been reliable. That’s been the big question for me.

    • @TheRealScatterblak
      @TheRealScatterblak ปีที่แล้ว

      @@qkxao9282 -- Definitely cheaper to own than my Quattroporte was! I'm at 80K miles now, got it with ~30K, and I drive it pretty hard - just got back from a 1,600 mile trip. No major mechanical problems - so far, the only bits that have gone bad are the parking sensors up front. Just make sure you do as much stuff yourself as you can - brakes at a
      dealer are ~$4K - get the parts from Scuderia and it'll be less than $1K. Oil change at the dealer is ~$400 - get the parts, do it yourself, etc. The major cost I have to deal with is gas - I drive it in sport mode and in manual, and I get ~15.9 miles per gallon.
      I know they have a reputation - maybe I just got lucky, but my GTS has been one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned, and it's my daily driver. It's been a great purchase, and when it's time to retire it, I'll be looking for another one. Nothing sounds as good, IMHO, and it's still a head-turner. It's a joy to drive, and while it's not quite the fastest thing on the road, it ain't slow, and it's very comfortable on long trips.

    $600 for an oil change seems reasonable. In Los Angeles, I was quoted $1,600 - $1,800 for an oil change + air filter change. I paid $900 for an independent mechanic to do the work. I suppose I could have just done it myself, but I was told a service stamp in the owners manual is important for these kinds of cars when it comes to resale.

    • @RyneLanders
      @RyneLanders 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

Unlike in 17 I bought a Ferrari California with 7K miles and they changed it the next year w the Cali T and last year 19 it was discontinued for the Portofino. SO that was a bad buy especially since it cost me 135k and now only 3 years later looks dated and out. Well a good buy and a bad buy.

      Originally when i bought my car i was going to get the 2 years warranty extension, but since i never had any problems the 1 1/2 years i had it during the warranty period i decided not to get it. I thaught that if the car had been problem free for 4 years it would't have major problems. back then the 2 years warranty cost was like $4800 so even if I had a problem might not have been over that amount.

      @burgessgrb3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. The 2018 was sold but I have now a 2014 Sport on hold with 40k miles. No warranty. Questions: 1 - I will drive this car as a daily driver but no more than 10k per year. Car has been maintained with last Maserati service at 32k. The Benz dealer I am buying from did a service and inspection, the car currently has no leaks or issues. Question is, what would you estimate (guess) maintenance costs would in 12 months? 2 - Would I have an issue using this as a daily driver putting 10k a month on it? I will only keep it 2 years. 3 - What do you think could be major issues in 2 years or 20k miles? 4 - Should I be concerned with the miles at 40k, and keeping it until it is 60k? The price is great, it has already depreciated so I would simple trade it in 2 years or 60k miles. I have the money to afford close to new, just trying to understand what to expect if I use it as a daily driver for 40-60k miles? Any thoughts - and guesses on the above questions is appreciated. I am in South Carolina so similar weather and roads to you.

    • @corvettedude4423

      @@burgessgrb3 sorry for late reply. As far as service estimates, I recommend calling the Maserati service department. I perform my own maintenance, so I don’t know current prices with all this inflation. I was actually at Maserati yesterday to pick up the oil filter. I was told that the Granturismo is a reliable car and that they hardly ever replace engines. I have seen several for sale with almost 100k miles. Maybe one day I may consider trading mine. I like the 2018-2019 redesign especially the last year, 2019 convertibles , and if the price was right 40k miles would not scare me as long as the car had its proper service history and did not show indication of being a problematic car in its repair history.

      th-cam.com/video/VEiXRn7YzuY/w-d-xo.html Here is a sound difference between the two. The Maserati sounds better, but also its not a fair comparison as it does not have the performance exhaust. My friends C7 has the performance exhaust and sounds better than my C7 but I still think the Maserati wins even comparing C7 with performance exhaust.

      Mine being a 2014 has not had any problems at all. The only Porsche I’ve driven was a boxster, I liked the handling, but I can’t say about much about the 911. My favorite parts about the Granturismo is that it’s a great looking car and awesome sound from the naturally aspirated Ferrari V8. All Maseratis now have turbo and the sound is not the same. Maybe this may even help it gain value in the future.

    Hi! I´ve seen a 2008 GranTurismo with 45K miles and its a bargain, but I'm worried about issues with the car. Yours is a 2014 i think. What do you think about the 2008 model, is it reliable?

    • @corvettedude4423
      @corvettedude4423  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I have seen on Carfax reports, the Granturismo tends to have more issues on the 08's as that was the first year introduced. The most know was an issue with the variators, but most should have been fixed under warranty. So even if it did have issues as long as the car had them addressed is the important thing to look for, and that the car was properly maintained. As the years went on they got the bugs worked out of the car. This car has depreciated so much, that for a little bit more money, one can find a Granturismo a couple years newer.

    • @corvettedude4423
      @corvettedude4423  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here are some of the important things i looked for to make my decision.
      th-cam.com/video/t3BM8tPCBaQ/w-d-xo.html
      Regardless of car. I need to see the history of a car, so I can see if it was maintained, recalls or how many breakdowns it's had in case I might be buying a lemon. For example, I was helping a family member find an Audi. We found one that had 125K miles. Very high mileage for the year, but looked in perfect shape inside and out. History showed no breakdowns and every single maintenance item was done by the book and by the dealer. So chances are that the vehicle will continue to be a good car.
      Honestly if the car didn't come with the history, we would have walked away from the car.
