Owned a Maserati GranTurismo for many years. Absolutely loved it. Amazing exhaust note with a Larini cats and mufflers set up. This GT still looks magnificent today. Timeless design.
@@snapple6024 Not really a question of how reliable it is or whether you can daily drive it, but how expensive it is to do that. Daily drive it if you're okay with replacing tyres every 6000kms. Woeful gas economy. Brake discs need to be replaced every 40,000 kms. Mine was a weekend car. Perfect in that role.
I have a 2018 and love it. I bought it to try and have the best of both worlds. I feel I got both. The infotainment was updated in 18 and looks and works just fine. This is the last of the naturally aspirated V8s. I am so glad I got to expirence before it is gone. Did I say I love this car?
Got the same. I absolutely love it. Used to have a 2018 Ghibli S Q4 and they are worlds apart. The GT is the last real Maserati that was handbuilt in the original Maserati factory of Modena, with great fit and finish, materials and, obviously, the glorious Ferrari V8 and its legendary sound.
Mark my word. Now that this car is no longer being made, it will EVENTUALLY sky rocket in value. Just like old corvettes, Porsches, vipers, etc. If you own one, keep it.
@@AshMixes this is in Scottsdale AZ, 3 fluid chNge was $1500. oil only prob $500. Battery is currently flat and the trunk release (cable and button) not working. Have to get it towed to Maserati. That’s the only issue I’ve had with 18 mo of ownership and going from 7k miles to 20k miles
I just bought a 2017 Granturismo “Special Edition”. It is fantastic. 19,000 miles and not a mark on it. Certified Pre-Owned so it still has two years of factory warranty on it! The last of the normally aspirated V8’s, no driver aids (interventions). A true drivers car. This car is exactly as you described. A gentleman’s exotic. Understated, so as not to pull too much attention, but yet it rips when you want it too! And it brakes and steers better than any car I have driven. Incredibly solid. Fit and finish feel like a luxury car when driving it in a normal fashion, incredibly quiet. And having four REAL seats is such a bonus for dinner with friends. Although this car will spend its days pampered and driven only on sunny days, the car is actually useful when you need it to be. Ferrari cannot pull that off! Not for these prices. Great review!
The 911 has basically had the same design for what 35 years, but nobody ever says that it outdated!!! I've had a 2018 for almost 3 years and it is a fantastic car..there is NO better sounding car...and the ride is superb. May not be the fastest or quickest, but it is the best combination of all.

I know this is an older video, so I'm not saying he's wrong, but the prices have gotten better since this was made. I got a 2014 in very nice condition, under 30K miles for under $40K. I got it from a dealer who had just done the latest service, almost complete factory service records, it looks like they did take it to an indy place for one oil change. Newish tires with lots of tread left. They gave me a 3 month/3k mile drivetrain warranty just to cover any nagging worries about hidden issues. I can't think of anything else where I could have got this much bang for the buck. And he is right about one thing, it may not be a Ferrari but it is a joy to drive. It always brings a smile to my face.

I’ve found some with 8-12k miles, and others with 20-40k miles. What would be a safe range before more major problems occur? One last question: would it matter to have it checked by the local mechanic or would it be advised to take it to a Maserati specialist? Thank you!!

Thanks for reviewing this timeless classic. You were spot on honest and I truly appreciate your expert opinion. The Maserati GT MC is my favourite, it’s not in the same league as Ferrari, but I have to work my way up😁 Great job Dan. Your 🇨🇦 fan!
Have in the past 6 months taken trips from ATL, (my home), to Charleston SC, St. Simons Islands GA, and Savannah GA... *YES* It is the ultimate Grand Tourer. Sooooo comfy on road trips!!! I replaced my head unit with the new 2nd GEN Aucar/Android system and also replaced my climate control with the new touch screen unit.
I had the same squeak. Dealership fixed it by pulling off that housing and lubing something....Sorry for the lack of info, but I didn't investigate what they specifically lubed.
I’ve had my 2010 GT for 4 years now and still love it. Only problems so far have been cam cover gaskets and front upper bushings. It’s fairly old school bulletproof tech and naturally aspirated which keep the engine bay temps down. It’s is the perfect weekend away car and the sound still never gets old. Sticky buttons though🙁 why FCA?????
Great video! Would you rather have a bmw m6 convertible or a maserati granturismo convertible? I love convertibles and think both cars are great and going for around the same price in the used market.
Great review of an excellent car. The reason you weren't experiencing much body roll is because that car most likely (I can tell by the increased camera shake) has been equipped with the optional "Skyhook suspension system". When you enter Sport mode it actively changes the damping setting of the shocks to firm them up and then utilises the onboard telemetry to adjust them dynamically many times a second to give the car anti roll, anti squat (Under acceleration) and ani dip (Under braking) body weight transfer control. Amazing. It is still very annoying that they could nail this performance orientated tech and didn't concentrate more effort into updating the infotainment, wich is what everyone bases their opinion on car tech on- but I suppose that's not what this car is about because if you have an exhaust note like that, who needs DAB radio? 😂 I must say, in the stereo's defence, the actual speaker system is one of the best I've heard from factory - Bose did a great job with the acoustics, theres like 9 speakers stuffed in there, even has a pretty powerful subwoofer built into the parcel shelf! 👌
Hey Dan! I am considering the 2018 Sport model but can't find this European bumper the one you have on. Could you please let me know if this was an after-market mod or if it was a stock? Also, yours has MC vented hood which is not able to find. Again is this MC specific or were there any mods involved? Please ignore my lack of knowledge of these cars as I am still trying to do my research.
Omg I totally almost bought one of these MC’s in Chicago just before I bought my Camaro... these are awesome cars with crazy long wheelbases that just eat up the miles... good to hear it’s not much of sports car! Makes me feel better about my purchase. I think the pros way outweigh the cons here. Beautiful at almost any angle too! 👌🏻
I'm considering a Coupe now, but the maintenance issues make me hesitate, (And I drive an '89 RX7 - everybody is all put off by the rotary engine... but have had NO problems over 4 cars in 40 years).Still, very tempting...
I dear I have maserati granturismo mc and now i have fault code p2187 to lean idle bank 1 and bank 2 do you know what the problem is ist come on and go way
@@normalguysupercar This is my 3rd Maserati. I still own a 1986 Maserati QP III and sold my 1956 Maserati 125cc Motorcycle to my Ferrari salesman. The GranTurismo is the prettiest and fastest of the 3. Super happy with it so far. A steal IMHO. Thanks for the videos.
I am looking for a GT MC in the US. I looked at the “Cars” App. They claimed the car is MC but the exhaust is not centered like the one you have in the video. Could you tell me is that a Model Year difference or they just faked it?
Hello, I'm thinking of purchasing a 2015 Maserati GT S and I have some concerns regarding reliability issues that pop up on the internet. That being said a lot of people also complain about Porche/BMW/MB and I've never had any issues with any of those in the past. I have zero experience with Italian cars, can you comment on the reliability of this vehicle as I plan on making it a daily driver. Thank you.
Sadly in Singapore, the 2008 4.2 GT is like a $110,000 USD used. Car prices here sucks balls. Because we're a small country, they wanna discourage car ownership. A brand new camry is like a $100,000 USD and a Lamborghini huracan is like a million USD. Imagine the amount of cars u cld buy with That money
I have a 2017 GT MC There is absolutely nothing out there like a Maserati GT ……people look at it and its a universal response….Beautiful!!! Its a unique vehicle….its an exotic and very unique exotic
I see in 10, 15, 20 or even 30 years from now this normally aspirated Maserati/Ferrari V8 will be SUPER valuable. At that time, When every OTHER car is electric, this car and the like will be super valuable to all the gear heads that still want a exotic naturally aspirated V8.
@@normalguysupercar Not quite. When I say they are practically the same car, I mean it. Same engine, suspension, same frame, many interior parts and the list goes on. Gran turismo = 194"L x 75" W x 53" H Weight 4365 Quattroporte = 201"L x 75" W x 57" H Weight 4389 Its 7 inches longer which is due to body moldings, Weights about the same, 0-60 is about the same. GT is lowered a little more but same height if measured by the frame. Biggest difference? Interior aesthetics. Look it up. GT is basically a 2 door QP. But interior of QP is more luxurious.
This will be my next car after I sell my 928 GTS...probably won't get the MC unfortunately. You should have heard the MC race car out at COTA today! Sounded like an Italian NASCAR!
Was look at one in 2016 great sounding car as well as sexy looking. Ended up with my GTR Black Edition 2015 needed a family car lol. Couldn’t be happier with the GTR. But the MAS definitely gets a 👍🏽 from me
I wish Ferrari would stayed with pininfarina LOVE the maserati design and the pininfarina super car looks AMAZING! Not a fan of the 430,458 or 488. The 360 eventually grew on me but I would still prefer a F355 over anything outside of an Enzo or a 456.
I have one. A 2015, Granturismo, non MC. 4.7 liter. So the interesting thing is that while idling, if I press the sport mode button, I don't hear it change to the deep growl. But if I then take it out of drive mode and into manual shift mode by knocking gearshift sideways to the left (towards me) that incredible low growl starts while just idling. Or visa versa if I'm in manual mode, I don't hear the low growl until I press sport mode button, . So in my car both sport mode and manual mode have to be engaged to hear the low growl. Is that car the same ?? BTW, I feel exactly the same as you do about the car: its a grand touring luxury car as the name implies with an incredible sound and Italian heritage, Ferrari crossplane engine version of the F430 body designed by designed by Pininfarina (same as F430 and 458) . Because I also want a sports car, I also have an F430,
They should make The Maserati GT MC Stradale legal here is the states..It's the race version of that one with a race mode and lots of CF including the seats..I wonder why is not legal in the states???
I was looking at this and my E63 M6 but went M6 as its the last of the best BMW N/A engines and not many made either. Do love a Stradale MC though, specially with the alcantara interior, abit more beefy!
You'll have the infamous M6 disintegrating valvetrain to look forward to...when it happens...the car is totalled. ( costs more to fix than the car is worth) dodged that bullet after falling in love with an M6 once...that's why you don't see ANY on the road today. There us a current owners class action lawsuit against BMW because of this problem
You get it! Maserati’s get such negative comments......by people who have never driven them. Ferrari makes the sports cars in the family. This is a luxury sedan with a Ferrari engine and the ability to really be playful when you’re in the mood, Stunningly beautiful! The sound in sports mode is completely intoxicating. I only have a 2017 Ghibli S Q4, but I’ve never been more pleased with a car in my life. They significantly improved the interior tech compared to the 2016 and it’s all that I need or want. Some people are obsessed with the fact that Chrysler makes the superfuntional infotainment system and buttons. If that’s what you’re focused on, you completely miss the point of this car. I’ve had BMW sedans and they have better tech and maybe interiors, but that don’t have the sound or even close to the same aesthetics.
i think bro insulted the whole italian car community when he said muscle car v8 3 times actually tho this is a great mix between the metronome like tough v8 sound of the american and the smooth linear v8 of the italian
Very pretty car. Nice sound. Did you stop at the white line at the stop sign? Lol. Beep the horn then you know it is an Italian car. I am at the age where I would like driving something like it.

Agreed, the exterior styling is pretty spot on, interior is looking a bit dated though. But man, that sound....... Sweeeeeet......

Thanks for reviewing this timeless classic. You were spot on honest and I truly appreciate your expert opinion. The Maserati GT MC is my favourite, it’s not in the same league as Ferrari, but I have to work my way up😁 Great job Dan. Your 🇨🇦 fan!
You're welcome! It's certainly a beautiful car and perfect for the upper end daily driver
Thank you for the review of this car. I was thinking about picking one of these up being that i got rid of my GTR.
Sounds right
Nice review Dan it reminds me of my Porsche 928S but with a little Italian flair
Gotta have that Italian touch!
UUUUUGH... I hate the sticky buttons.
Great video! Would you rather have a bmw m6 convertible or a maserati granturismo convertible? I love convertibles and think both cars are great and going for around the same price in the used market.
I hate convertibles but probably the GT.
Subbed, excellent review. You also sold me at 9:56 hahah
Thanks!
Ah yes
How much fun compared to the 458? Additionally can we see you review the Quattroporte 4.7 auto year 2011/12 approx, for comparison to this MC?
Honestly the 458 is a massive amount more fun.
I have this car, your shifts were early esp in 2nd and 3rd. When you shift perfexct, you'll hear 3 puffs from the exhaust.
Ok
All GTs from 2012 on are 454hp. Top 3 sounding car on the market, sexy curves, and great interior.
I figured you would know the details. :)
This car was not modified
Hi . Wondering which service reset tool do you use? any recommendations for service reset tool for Maserati Gts?
Are these reliable? my dads looking to buy a 2012 GT Sport with the ZF auto
Yes they are. I have mine for over 3 years with no issues other than regular maintenance.
What's the difference between mc and sport??
Omg I totally almost bought one of these MC’s in Chicago just before I bought my Camaro... these are awesome cars with crazy long wheelbases that just eat up the miles... good to hear it’s not much of sports car! Makes me feel better about my purchase. I think the pros way outweigh the cons here. Beautiful at almost any angle too! 👌🏻
Yes it's a very good GT car
Which shifts quicker in your opinion, the F355 F1 or MC?
MC
I'm considering a Coupe now, but the maintenance issues make me hesitate, (And I drive an '89 RX7 - everybody is all put off by the rotary engine... but have had NO problems over 4 cars in 40 years).Still, very tempting...
It's not that bad
I dear
I have maserati granturismo mc and now i have fault code p2187 to lean idle bank 1 and bank 2 do you know what the problem is ist come on and go way
How does it compare with your corvette as far as fun drivability ?
I like the Corvette more for fun. The Masi is better for comfort by a long shot though.
I just bought a 2011 GrandTurismo with 12k miles for $37,488.00 and its gorgeous 4.7 with near perfect interior... love it despite the pandemic
Nice
@@normalguysupercar This is my 3rd Maserati. I still own a 1986 Maserati QP III and sold my 1956 Maserati 125cc Motorcycle to my Ferrari salesman. The GranTurismo is the prettiest and fastest of the 3. Super happy with it so far. A steal IMHO. Thanks for the videos.
I am looking for a GT MC in the US. I looked at the “Cars” App. They claimed the car is MC but the exhaust is not centered like the one you have in the video. Could you tell me is that a Model Year difference or they just faked it?
There is US version MC, it's hard to find.
Thank you.
Hard to believe you can pay under $30k for the earlier models and looks almost identical to a 2019
Yeah, it's mind blowing.
48K for my 2014 with 25k on the clock...things is beautifully sorted and is the most fun to drive than most anything i've had...i've had a lot!!!
It's called timeless design. Italian Pininfarina design.
I have a 2017 GT MC
There is absolutely nothing out there like a Maserati GT ……people look at it and its a universal response….Beautiful!!! Its a unique vehicle….its an exotic and very unique exotic
Yup
Is this video before or after the Urutu Xpipe installation?
I can't remember
My business partner is looking at one new on the lot...$160k... but they said they would let him have it for $125k.. hmmm
Yeah, they give HUGE discounts which also doesn't help for the resale.
He will lose double that again 8n 5he first cpl of year's buy used low mileage.
Agreed
Try to drive/review an 09-2012 Maserati quattroporte S or GTS. Practically the same car but more luxurious.
Much larger too
@@normalguysupercar Not quite. When I say they are practically the same car, I mean it. Same engine, suspension, same frame, many interior parts and the list goes on.
Gran turismo = 194"L x 75" W x 53" H
Weight 4365
Quattroporte = 201"L x 75" W x 57" H
Weight 4389
Its 7 inches longer which is due to body moldings, Weights about the same, 0-60 is about the same. GT is lowered a little more but same height if measured by the frame.
Biggest difference? Interior aesthetics. Look it up. GT is basically a 2 door QP. But interior of QP is more luxurious.
Can change gear box from stradale in to normal car ?
I don't know
That Maserati does 185.🎶
Yup
I lost my license , now I can’t drive .
Ahhhh! Love this comment... going to be in my head all day now!
If you get it tune, it would do more then that over 190...
This will be my next car after I sell my 928 GTS...probably won't get the MC unfortunately. You should have heard the MC race car out at COTA today! Sounded like an Italian NASCAR!
Hell yeah! I've heard them, it's awesome
0:30 GROVE STREET?
Love your review style! Subscribed and liked!
Thank you
My mates brother has one. Best sounding car I have ever heard. Amazing.
Huge Granturismo fan! Super nice car!!
Was look at one in 2016 great sounding car as well as sexy looking. Ended up with my GTR Black Edition 2015 needed a family car lol. Couldn’t be happier with the GTR. But the MAS definitely gets a 👍🏽 from me
It's a pretty awesome car but it's just not that fast. But that's not really the point of having it.
Normal Guy Supercar Right on I agree with that 👍🏽
Great Video! What do you use to record the exhaust? Are you going to C&C this Sunday?
I'll be there. The exhaust is my trade secret. ;)
I own a m4 should buy one ? Looking for like daily wat ur thoughts
No idea
I wish Ferrari would stayed with pininfarina LOVE the maserati design and the pininfarina super car looks AMAZING! Not a fan of the 430,458 or 488. The 360 eventually grew on me but I would still prefer a F355 over anything outside of an Enzo or a 456.
Yeah, Pininfarina certainly designs amazing cars.
I’d love to see you review a Ferrari GT car. Maybe something older like a 550 Maranello. 456 M. 599...
Any of those would qualify.
Great video, thanks! Just bought one 👌
Awesome! Congrats
Because I also want a sports car, I also have an F430,
This you only need to push sport to open the valves.
@@normalguysupercar thx. Its strange, I'll have to ask a dealer about that.
Are these expensive to maintain
They should make The Maserati GT MC Stradale legal here is the states..It's the race version of that one with a race mode and lots of CF including the seats..I wonder why is not legal in the states???
I'm sure some exhaust mods and a tune would really improve performance.
Sure
These are so freakin cool for 40k
It's a steal at that price
Entertainment center can be easily upgraded/retrofitted along with a new sound system....
True.
Cool review. I've hung out with a bunch of Maserati owners over the past year and I agree with your assessments.
Thank you!
I was looking at this and my E63 M6 but went M6 as its the last of the best BMW N/A engines and not many made either. Do love a Stradale MC though, specially with the alcantara interior, abit more beefy!
Yup, it's a hell of a car on the used market.
I got the best man in the business looking after my barnfind mate@@Bigsky1991
I’ve had BMW sedans and they have better tech and maybe interiors, but that don’t have the sound or even close to the same aesthetics.
i think bro insulted the whole italian car community when he said muscle car v8 3 times
actually tho this is a great mix between the metronome like tough v8 sound of the american and the smooth linear v8 of the italian
Na there's some Italian muscle cars
get one too from my GF, from Indonesia witht he container now but the Cabrio
I thought you would be testing a scagilette which is the ferrari version of that
Nope
Very pretty car. Nice sound. Did you stop at the white line at the stop sign? Lol. Beep the horn then you know it is an Italian car. I am at the age where I would like driving something like it.
LOL thank you!
Great review sir
Thanks
That Maserati sounds amazing. Richard is the man.... a Maserati and two Ferraris... That car in my mind is a luxury and somewhat of a sporty car. 😁😁
Hilariously, his wife drives the Maserati SUV as well... All of his cars are Italian. That's kinda badass.
is that not the MC Stradale?
These cars are sick but the birdcage wheels look weird on the non mc versions
I suppose so.
Interesting... you rolled over 51K subs while I was watching this video.. congrats Dan!
Woohoo!
