Excellent review, Karak. Detailed, as ever. I hadn't paid much attention to this one before now, but it looks like something to check out. I like DONTNOD.
Seems to hit the right notes - decent gameplay in an expanding sandbox to tell good stories. I get very strong Greedfall vibes, and that was an excellent story that deserved better polish in the gameplay (why did they keep reusing the palace map for all the factions?)
I think Greedfall also needs to improve map design because GF1 had very confusing layouts. Very easy to get lost within mazes labeled towns and villages and also the forest. What a horrible design choice. Outside of that and adding more companion dialogue, I'm ready for part 2.
I can't stop playing this game. I just finished a side quest about the blacksmith and her wife ...love the writing on this one and the choice I have to make was not easy...I wonder how that's gonna affect the narrative. If it's anything like vampyr l,I'm in for a treat.
Planning on getting it in a few days. Its the kind of game that most people will forget about but for those like myself looking for a game that is in the in-between like Robocop Rogue City then Im all for it. Thanks for the review ACG.
The lip syncing is improved so much from vampyr. Game is pretty good and I'm glad that studio like Focus is on right step, hopefully other ones will make small steps forward instead of backwards. Great video as always, keep up good work 👍
Coincidentally I’ve just started playing Elex 2 and it’s so enjoyable. It’s charming as heck and so refreshing. Almost like a kind of antidote to a lot of modern games. It’s Breath Of The Wild if Link wasn’t a cartoon twink and the countryside and all of the graphics were realistic and had 216 times the detail😁 So it’s super cool to see they’re evolving and I’d love to play anything from this studio. Big fan so far.
I actually loved the combat in vampyr I never understood the hate. I knew this game would be interesting my only worry was the combat but I’m gonna go for it
I’m gonna wait deep sale for this looks interesting but not something be completely sold on and I just spent money on two bangers I grabbed grab blue fantasy relink and helldiver 2.
There is a demo on Steam now in case you haven't bought the game yet. It's about a 90 mn long play that goes through the intro mission and sets up the gameplay, characters and story nicely.
Vampyr was such a surprise to me, that game was so good I didn't expect it at all. From your review, it seems Banisher pretty much follow Vampyr's footstep for both its strength and weakness which makes Banisher worth a buy from me. @@ACGreviews I played Vampyr 3 times, clocked in around 130 hours on it. Last time I played it was in 2021. I loved that game, it's far from perfect but the moral dilemma from the choices really made me think. The atmosphere and characters are on point for me. I was hoping Dontnod would make a sequel to it but Banisher actually kind of seems like its spiritual successor with the same focus on choice and consequences and the supranatural vibe to it too
Great game, switching to easy difficulty made the game so much better! And that's the first game since the 90s i never run. I love walking in this game and makes it way better. Running around ruins a lot of the whole atmosphere

Had no clue Dontnod had a game coming out. I enjoy most of their games and this looks like another banger. I enjoyed Vampr so, here I go pressing that buy button.
Ya wish it had more uhmph in the PR department
Excellent review, Karak. Detailed, as ever. I hadn't paid much attention to this one before now, but it looks like something to check out. I like DONTNOD.
Glad you liked it!
Seems to hit the right notes - decent gameplay in an expanding sandbox to tell good stories. I get very strong Greedfall vibes, and that was an excellent story that deserved better polish in the gameplay (why did they keep reusing the palace map for all the factions?)
Pretty much exactly that
I think Greedfall also needs to improve map design because GF1 had very confusing layouts. Very easy to get lost within mazes labeled towns and villages and also the forest. What a horrible design choice.
Outside of that and adding more companion dialogue, I'm ready for part 2.
For sure
LAZINESS!
Love DONTNOD and wanna support them on this! Besides some issues it looks great
Already bought it because Don’t Knod, but still stoked for the videos. Starts slow, but I’m enjoying it so far.
Ok I was thinking to wait a bit on this now I have to preorder sheesh my back catalogue is just getting…SMH thanks Karek lol
You bet have a great one!
Never pre order and support anti consumer business practices!
Vampyr had a fantastic premise, setting, everything really except the core game structure. If they could fix it in a sequel, they'd have a winner.
Agreed liked that game but it did have some issues
I can't stop playing this game. I just finished a side quest about the blacksmith and her wife ...love the writing on this one and the choice I have to make was not easy...I wonder how that's gonna affect the narrative.
If it's anything like vampyr l,I'm in for a treat.
It's because of you that I played Vampyr and now I'm gonna play this one and I'm fairly certain I'll love this one too! Thx.
I’ll be grabbing this later in the year. Tomorrow happens to be the same day that Ultros launches!
Enjoy Ultros. Looks great
Planning on getting it in a few days. Its the kind of game that most people will forget about but for those like myself looking for a game that is in the in-between like Robocop Rogue City then Im all for it. Thanks for the review ACG.
You bet. A unique game but very enjoyable
Thanks for the review. Was a bit on the fence about this one.
You and me both!
Never heard of this game before. This review has introduced me to it. Looks interesting. But not sure if I'd be willing to fork out full price for it.
That checks out its not cheap
Literally never heard of this game until today, now I'm hyped
It wasnt well known for sure
The lip syncing is improved so much from vampyr. Game is pretty good and I'm glad that studio like Focus is on right step, hopefully other ones will make small steps forward instead of backwards. Great video as always, keep up good work 👍
thanks for the review , Looks great but coming from just completing Remnant 2 , my expectations are unrealistic for Banishers to be on the same level
Remnant 2 is great. Did you like it?
Definitely a down-the-road purchase, but it looks great!
Fair enough!
0:00 I can’t be the only one who heard “ghost busting white boi”
hooray the year is officially started with a ACG review
Indeed
i didnt even know this game existed. sounds like a fun game if you have the right expectations
This is completely true. Got to know what it is going in.
I will never stop hoping for a sequel to Vampyr, but this is really cool looking.
I'll take this until the next Greedfall comes out. Thanks for the review fam
Coincidentally I’ve just started playing Elex 2 and it’s so enjoyable.
It’s charming as heck and so refreshing.
Almost like a kind of antidote to a lot of modern games.
It’s Breath Of The Wild if Link wasn’t a cartoon twink and the countryside and all of the graphics were realistic and had 216 times the detail😁
So it’s super cool to see they’re evolving and I’d love to play anything from this studio. Big fan so far.
Hell ya
I missed acg reviews glad you back!
Me too!
Appreciate all your work
-fan from South Africa
Thank you man appreciate that!
Thanks for your reviews, sir. If I'm ever debating a game, I always check if you have a review for it first; expectations going in.
No worries!
Makes my day when I see the ACG notification! Thanks for all your hard work
thanks hope you dig it
This looks like a mixture between Hellblade Senuas Sacrifice and Vampyr ✨️
I actually loved the combat in vampyr I never understood the hate. I knew this game would be interesting my only worry was the combat but I’m gonna go for it
I get that
Looks pretty decent. Gonna grab the console version to play with my fiance. Thanks for the review!
You bet enjoy
Excellent review! I find myself liking a lot of stuff you recommend, so I'm going to give it a shot.
Enjoy a unique game
I own it and I absolutely LOVE the game! 9/10!!!
I’m gonna wait deep sale for this looks interesting but not something be completely sold on and I just spent money on two bangers I grabbed grab blue fantasy relink and helldiver 2.
I hear ya there
Thanks for the review. This looks like something I want to check out. Is there a demo available?
There is a demo on Steam now in case you haven't bought the game yet. It's about a 90 mn long play that goes through the intro mission and sets up the gameplay, characters and story nicely.
I look forward to eventually playing this but FF7 and Dragon’s Dogma will be consuming all my team in the near future.
You could probably finish this before those come out
I like these types of games, so I'll be checking this one out, and I have a feeling this one will be a cult classic.
Enjoy it
Vampyr was such a surprise to me, that game was so good I didn't expect it at all. From your review, it seems Banisher pretty much follow Vampyr's footstep for both its strength and weakness which makes Banisher worth a buy from me. I love how DontNod always try to make different genres. Their games are not perfect but always unique
Same so many good parts in those. Did you replay Vampyre or just the one time?
Running around ruins a lot of the whole atmosphere
thank you for the excellent review, as always! i’ve been a fan of dontnod since life is strange and i’ll definitely be picking this one up :)
Man, this makes me want to really try vampry. Lol I bought it on console and PC but always fall off pretty early in the game to play something else never hating it just not getting pulled in. Will pick this one up even if just to support these type of games.
Vampyre is great
@@ACGreviews ok, it’s never left me to play list and complete next to greedfall. I just keep bumping them down for other games. I just need to set time to really get deep into the story.
The story is greatly written and the voice acting is perfect. Other than that, everything is just acceptable.
Loving the talk about the pc settings. Total biscuit would be proud
He was a great guy
If anything this review makes me want to finally install Vampyr. If I end up enjoying Vampyr I'll likely get this at some point. Banishers definitely looks interesting.
V is such a good game. Dont sit on it
@@ACGreviews I think I'll install it tonight👍
Decades later and we're still talking about the beautifully crafted narrative of The Bloody Baron. CDPR at its peak.
Great review as always, definitely convinced me to pull the trigger as I love strong narrative games.
Good try you out nerves yourself
