Frame rate is fine for me on PC. The fact is that people are demanding photoreal graphics but don’t want to pay for the processing power which makes that possible. It’s a shame Sony and Microsoft under-engineered the GPUs on their ‘current-gen’ consoles to hit a lower price point (or maybe it’s a shame people think they should be getting 4090-level graphics performance out of a $400 console?). It’s also a shame Capcom used Denovo DRM on this game because the performance would be better on older hardware without it.
May the first time I've disliked one of your channel's vids. No mention of microtransactions of their crap anti-cheat/pirate stuff is a massive disservice to the customer.

Repetitive to say the least I like using archers, but I feel like I'm just constantly going through and shooting my bow at the same people if they incorporated a small knife or something to spice it up it would be a lot better maybe more skills

How you are essentially forced to spend real money to change your appearance, pawn inclinations, etc. Also, how you can't start a new game once you've already made a character unless you turn off cloud save and manually delete all your save files. Did Capcom already get rid of those things, or did you omit these aspects from the review?
@@jelledesmet7086 No need to be so condescending. That info wasn't available at the time of my comment, and there's still no info on how easy they are to obtain. You also conveniently fail to address the whole issue of not being able to start a new game once you've already made a character.
@iyaramonk That explains it, but this fact is a bit sketchy. How can someone give an honest and accurate review when something like this is kept from them?

Hey I just wanted to say that your dragon's dogma dark arisen review from 8 years ago was the first video i saw for this channel and the reason i got the game. Thanks for that review and all your reviews since then, cheers!
Yeah, it's the downfall of pumping out reviews at a corporate rate. Few people actually play games like that. Like, I may be an oddity, but most major games take me months to complete. Witcher 3, RDR2, GTA V, RE2&3, God of War etc. all took me nearly a year to beat. Few hours here, few hours there. I do like Angry Joe's reviews for that reason, he plays them over a few weeks at his own pace. Much more like how most people actually play games. Not plowing through in 2 - 12 hour sit downs or whatever, haha.
I agree, but I also don’t mind watching these videos knowing what I know now and seeing what people think on elements that aren’t MTX or performance issues. I take TH-cam reviews with a grain of salt anyhow, they’re just as susceptible to corporate trickery (adding mtx after initial reviews, etc.) as any other when it’s pumped out this quick. I appreciate the more nuanced, longer deep dives where time is taken to analyze…well, any piece of media in much greater detail. I forget who made it, but there’s this really long (hours long) Oblivion review I really like, and has made me understand that game on a deeper level ❤️
Guy already did the same with Pacific Drive, barely mentions performance or says smth like "just has some drops here and there" and proceeds to hype up the game and recommend it, very cool. I miss the days when this was a trustworthy review channel
13:30 just a heads up, variable refresh rate does not work at 30fps or below. Most TVs/monitors will have a spec sheet showing the VRR range and I’ve never seen a TV with a range at or below 30fps. It usually starts at about 40fps. 🤓

Instead of using tech to make a better game we use tech to hide it’s flaws and silence any criticisms until we meet our sales expectation on paid reviews and spam bots. What a joke.
i think the problem with DD2 (and DD1) isn't the game itself per se. It's that the game design is inherently divisive, you'll either love it or hate it.
I think that's a good thing. It means it's actually doing something specific rather than trying to appeal to everyone (Ubisoft games) while not really satisfying anyone.
That's fine, not every game should flatten itself out to be all things to all people. Capcom made a sequel primarily for people who played the first one and asked for more...for ten years.
Is there a reason the microtransactions were never mentioned? The community seems to be up in arms about them as they include a charge just to change your characters appearance or a charge to be able to revive your characters... were they not put in the preview copies given? Not saying this to be hostile, just genuinely curious when so many reviews on this are positive but player reviews are much more angry at the developers practises.
Yes because the review Copy probably had no DRM and MTX in it. Then Bait and Switch at Launch hence the Negative reviews on Steam right now and the Refunds i am on the edge of refunding myself and buy a Pirated Copy for zero dollars.
The only microtransaction that really is an issue is paying $2 to change your characters appearance. And them preventing you from deleting your character or having more than one character. Strange how you could make several characters in the character creator they released before the game. What was the point in that if you can only have one character.
I’ve noticed that. People that played review versions of the game don’t bring it up the issues I’ve heard at all. Even the ones I know 100% would speak on it. Makes me wonder why?
You didn't think it was worth mentioning the micro-transactions? It's been revealed that ALL early review copies came with an e-mail revealing there are MTX. You knew.
Just looked at the review by Forbes. Evidently, the egregious microtransactions were detailed in the material that came with the review copy from Capcom. Why weren't they mentioned in this review? Seems like an important thing to be conspicuously absent.
So why no mention, at all, of the RMT shop? There's no way this wasn't known before hand, as another review has clearly stated that it was in the press information.
It was known beforehand. Jez Corden reviewed the game for WindowsCentral and said it was included in the review guidelines. Probably a nice bonus from Capcom for not mentioning it. This is the state of game reviews after Totalbiscuit passed away. Zero integrity grifters that take pay for praise while lying to their audience. It’s gross.
I mean there were technically MTX in previous Capcom games like DMC5 and RE4 Remake. Those “DLCs” shouldn’t exist in the first place either, but at least they could easily be earned through normal gameplay and wasn’t so badly pushed, which imo is why most people didn’t care about them. While in DD2 they took steps way TOO far that made the freaking game mechanics into micro transactions (character customization and fast travels), which seem let people finally realized their terrible monetizations.
The mtx in DD2 are as ‘offensive’ as all the ones present in the recent resident evil games since 7 and all the recent monster hunter games and the last devil may cry game, they’re not a big deal

I think mtx being targeted at people with less time on their hands is pretty insidious 😬 why should games be designed to take advantage of those who need more accessibility in their games? “Don’t like it? Don’t buy it.” Isn’t very helpful either.
@@loremir1994Would you prefer the game was just easy, so that busy/casual players wouldn’t have any problem getting into it? In any case, there's too much content out there saying that the DD2 is unplayable on PC, or that it feels more like a remake of the first game. If you ask me...Dragon's Dogma 2 is one of the best action-rpg games out there. Great characters, great voice acting, huge world, and it does what Morrowind did great over 20 years ago - It forces players to travel slowly through the world, making them really appreciate the world design and the visuals. I've played DD2 for around 200 hours, haven't had any crashes, game-breaking bugs, or issues that would hamper my enjoyment of the game. This is why Angry Joe started buying his copies when the game launches for everyone and drops the reviews later.

At this point the only channel we can trust is Worth A Buy.
Mack is great.
@simoSLJ89 dude stop with spamming this comment everywhere
Maybe add an addendum in light of the MTX?
Is that pitch meeting pawn at 3:33 ? 😅
Likely wont see this but how was your performance on your setup with 4k? If i gotta bust out my 1440 monitor even with my 4090 im gonna cry haha
The microtransactions really mar this game. Should be celebrating games like Helldivers more with their approach to mtx.
I'm glad the steam review are at: "meh" instead of good because of the macrotransactions. it's a 70€ (pc) 80-90€ (console) game. F*ck that. Addition as a bonus, the classic denuvo.
The fact you can't create multiple saves is amazing to see. I'm gonna wait for the modders if they will be any since capcom is chasing them.
Appart from that BS, the game seems to be super fun.
35% user score on Steam.
EDIT: Steam score has improved to a little over 50% now.
Yeah i downvoted the video, don't agree at all
@@DovahVokunahave you tried playing the game?
@@bungobogus8132 yes
Enjoyed the first one ,, but it lacked a lock on feature, has this one got one?
Thanks from France for your impressive work ! You rock man 🤘🏼
1) Denuvo ✔️
2) Bad optimization ✔️
3) Microtransactions in a single player fully priced game ✔️
4) Only one save slot and no ability to have a dedicated manual save slot ✔️
5) Can't start a new game ✔️
6) Can't customize/alter your character if you regret it ✔️
7) Hardcore old school rpg with no handholding and limited accessibility like fast travel/NPCs dying/resurrections stones/currency and all these features implement not for a different unique experience based on the director's words but to lock these "features" behind paywall as a scummy practice ✔️
8) Contract signed by reviewer stating that they will ignore performance issues, micro transactions and not mention the monetary bonus included with the free review copy ✔️
Half of those are willfully ignorant. You can in-game change your appearance for a minimal cost, and the model is very similar to the first game and the microtransactions in no way hinders the game i played 10 hours and didnt even know they were there. Why are you lying?
@@cookie8162 Stop supporting mtx in single player games period. Everything I said is 100% true. And about the character change which according to you is half of the 7 things said it's still true. It should have been free, not requiring in game currency or mtx as an alternative
@@Johnny.1994 Exactly. Something like fast travel would've obviously been a new feature for DD2 that the developers wanted to include, perhaps a limited usage feature that had a cool down or something to still keep a risk of night time encounters. Regardless, it's something the men in suits decided to be excluded and kept as DLC. People who are defending DD2 and the mtx are just making the industry worse for the average gamer.
@@cookie8162 I am pretty sure that the hardcore elements of the game were built around mtx so if they weren't there in the first place the design of the game would have been different. The fast travel for example, or the resurrection stones mechanic. Capcom has become EA
Ive very much been looking forward to your review. The GOAT of game reviewers.
Thanks!
If someone reviewed this game honestly 2 weeks ago and simply stated that it A) follows the Monster Hunter format and B) has very little story relative to its map's size, I would not have bought this stinker.
Absolute failure of a game despite the size of its map, secrets, exploration, etc. This game goes right up there among the stinkers in the (over-rated) looter shooter category, which are among the most pointless, waste-of-time games on the market.
It's shocking I bought the game after watching this and what a waste of money.
Comical story, no enemy variety, basic choice of weapons and armor, lazy boss fights you don't even need to hit one of them for it to die and more.
I was looking forward to monster hunter but after playing this capcom title I wontbe buying another
Not even halfway through Reborth and wanna play this so bad. Dragons Dogma one of my fav RPGs of all time
Hey man, great review. You mentioned fps drops on your 4090 but didn't give any specifics. Are we talking occasional sub-60 drops, or much worse, like going into the 30's and 40's? I've got a 4080 and don't mind if the drops are in the 50's and consistent, but any worse than that and I might think twice about picking it up until it's improved
No mention of the egregious microtransactions? Maybe u thought it wasnt a big deal and wasnt worth mentioning, but that seems extremely shady imo
Not even mentioning denuvo or microtransactions ? Man I started watching your videos cuz you were free to express your opinion in an unbiased manner but it seams to me that you're just now part of the system like many others.
You realize this video came out before launch. The mtx weren't knotted about by anyone yet. Denuvo, i dunno, wasn't new. They posted it on steam a while ago.
The most important question is…how often do NPCs say the words aught and naught?
Naught enough.
I'll see myself out.
A laught!
Why you I aught-a
How is enemy variety compared to the first? That was one of my major gripes with dragons dogma.
Over 60 hours in, & a smile still creeps across my face when I'm wandering in the dark and see an ogre's eyes glowing up ahead. I'm grinding every bit of fun I can out of this, just like Dark Arisen.
I always appreciate the reviews here. It's nice to watch a review who cuts the bull as well as not spoiling the story or even later spells/actions but still keep it a nice enjoyable review. Appreciate all the reviews you've done ACG!
Always appreciate the informative reviews! This one is going to be a pass for me. Looking forward to Rise of the Ronin review!
Developers: "We've built an amazing game, just needs another 2-4 months for us to iron out the performance issues and it will be a hit."
Capcom Management: "Good job but it's the end of the quarter and we want to make sure we (not you the developers, we the execs/management) get our unearned bonuses. Ship it and slap a s***ton of microtransactions that will turn the entirety of the non-brainwashed playerbase against us and the game."
AAA Industry: "Ahhhh, the system works"
About the performance do you think it’s because of the DRM only in cities or random drop?
Is it just me, or does that Pawn at 16:20 look like Ryan George?
No mention of quest design or gameplay other than combat?...
