If there’s a lot of other things you wanted to say that you didn’t, would it be worth making a follow up video now that it’s released.
For me, its very encouraging that most of the cons seem to be on the technical end. Those things absolutely matter and should be addressed. However those things rarely take away from my enjoyment of a game. The pros list the story, combat, world and gameplay? Hell yeah. Those are literally the most important things, to me at least
I agree, its just surprising about the visual set backs. FF16 had the same visual issues at launch, figired that'd of been addressed for rebirths launch. I had to play 16 in graphics mode, blurr in performance just bothered me. Probably play rebirth the same
@@dbeardsley0 very fair. Considering how much bigger rebirth is than ff16 in terms of things to do and world space, this might explain some of that

This is why I think I'll wait for the PC version. I want this game to look as good as possible with really high smooth frame rates. I'm smart and patient I'll be happy to wait for the better version of the game.
Yeah complaints are mostly superficial
I love your final notes that world isn't full of random stuff to do. So glad it didnt take that AC route where theres just way too many collectibles and simple side quests. Very excited!

Exactly. Back in late 90s, first time seeing him in the reactor...I was laughing hard...saying I pity da foo!!!
Honestly the main cast's voices are pretty spot on for me except maybe Tifa, but I still like the performance given there!
I must say they absolutely nailed the voice cast. People have told me Barrett sounds like a caricature but I actually find there is nuance and levels that go far beyond the PS1 version. Excited for Rebirth.
these people are honestly fools. Barret sounds very different on more tragic and serious moments. Folks just dont have media literacy

Why not Final Fantasy?
Hell, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest had one on the SNES.
And Samus could grab ledges years before Lara on the same SNES.

Wow what a great review. So many I've seen either talk it up like it has no flaws, or just tries to shit all over it. You had a great balance and I just wanted to say I appreciate that

I don't see people shitting on this game besides the typical "I don't like remakes" crowd which has no real argument besides "original is better/I like turn based" which is quite irrelevant to the quality FF 7 Rebirth. Almost all reviews have been great for this game as it sits at like 93/100 on Metacritic with over 100 reviews. Square even lets reviews come out a week before release which is a sign of confidence on their end.

Thanks for the review. I'm debating if I wait and see if PC gets announced for this year or play it on my ps5. I have a gut feeling pc will take at least a year so if I run out of games before dragons dogma I might just take the plunge

This better have all the Bahamut summons, Neo Bahamut and Zero. Nothing like calling in an orbital strike from a space dragon, onto some small cactus creature.

Neo and Zero might only be in the 3rd game since you don’t get them before reaching the Forgotten City in the original.
That "small cactus creature" can only be reliably hit with a N/A Elemental Summon, so it's not really overkill when you don't have many options that aren't Limit Breaks.
Bahamut Zero won't be in until part 3...

Hope to see this on PC this year, they mentioned in one of the previews that the soonest it would be out on "other platforms" was this summer so hopefully it won't be a 2 year wait like the previous game. Glad it's been getting great reviews so far.

Man I cant wait to play this. Gonna have to hold out til it goes on sale though. Which honestly seems to be the way to go now with games. GIve it a few mths after launch let the devs release some bug fixing patches and then buy it when it goes on sale.
Did you play 30 or 60fps? Has the 60fps visual mode fixed from the demo or is it the same in the full game.
Remake had better visuals in performance.

4:27 *ROCK AND STONE* sounds.
The way this 'series' works is weird to me. You continue right from where you were at the end of the last game but you're back to doing single digit damage and presumably only a handful of abilities after a 40+ hour escapade through Midgar. Do they at least acknowledge that or do you have to kind of suspend your disbelief and roll with it? I know it makes sense given the way this release is going, I know I'm not familiar with anything I was doing four years ago, but I'm curious how it works in the narrative.

Your review is the best! Was just coming off some site where the reviewer wasn't pleased with a certain story direction & came off bias in the review due to it. That shouldn't be, as proper review such as ACG focus on the technical aspects, the sounds, the fun, and weigh as little as possible on the story (art is subjective). Full kudos on ACG for a very good, professional review 👌
Loving the demos and really getting the combat down. Exploring is pretty good. However, I am terrified how the story will pan out...

@@rommelthedesertfox3089 because if the story is bad the game will be all style and no substance, a big open game with lots to do but no core. It could be remembered not for being one of the greatest game ever but 'the one they didn't kill Arieth in' and have it mired in decades of controversy and resentment.

That water animation (or lack of) is straight out of PS3 era.
I miss playing ff7 as one big sprawling epic. I hope they combine the games in some way, if not as one continuous game with shared progression at least as a mass effect legendary edition kind of trilogy package.
I imagine they will. You can already buy the Twin Pack which has both Remake and Rebirth in them. So I'd be surprised if they didn't end up having a bundle with all 3 games once they're finished.

I hope we can unlock omnislash in rebirth. I know from a dev pov, it makes the most sense to save it for the last part but…,, we were able to unlock it on disc 2 weren’t we? Give us the option lol. If golden saucer is available so should be clouds iconic lb!
I don't think you can, from what I've seen (not verified). The action combat functions and maybe summons existing were there to make up for limitations in limit breaks in Remake, in my opinion, and synergy moves are among the features that will make up for lacking final limit breaks.
Rebirth does not cover Disk 2 so that's not very relevant. It covers the remaining beats of Disk 1.
There should be 3 limit breaks this time, and they may change up the first two (we might not see Cloud's 'Ascension', maybe its something else). If this is true that we get three, we may get 4 or 5 in R3.

Something is going on in Japan because these studios are back on top form and it's amazing to see. Maybe it's because there's less focus on cynical live services?
I'm not sure Square Enix is a good exemple of a less cynical studios that wouldn't do live services games.

Seems the consensus is that it's better than the first game. Which is good. Personally, I enjoyed FFXVI way more than the first FF7 Remake game.
So I'm looking forward to this, but I think I'm more excited about the FFXVI expansion.
I'm really not a fan of these muted colors. Unless it's intentional, the rocks looks really really gray in this game.

I wonder if you can get Clouds titular omnislash in this one. I remember in the original you could get it by the end of Disc 2.
No Omnislash, and Rebirth covers Disk 1, not 2-3.
Since remake got a complete edition with Integrade i'll push playing this out about a year and then hopefully a PC Port will have the fidelity and 60+
Honestly, not too surprised about the technical issues with movement and sound effects. Already felt kinda clunky as it was in Remake, and yeah, Barrett's gun didn't sound great in that either. I did replay the demo yesterday, and it did seem like the image was cleared up a bit. According to DF, it was most likely a post processing issue. Still had a sliver of blur, but nowhere near what it was, so to me, Performance looks great now. One more week for us normies. Lol.
