Question: are you really that frame sensitive that dropping from 60 to 50 for a moment warrants changing to a visually subpar mode? Digital Foundry showed performance VS balanced basically saying VRR would cancel out the occasional dips.
Its noticeable for sure. Especially without a VRR monitor. When I was on the VRR monitor no. But off a VRR monitor, which many don't have, in super busy sections and doing them many times, or N+ runs, the parry(which already has its issues) is noticable. And 50 to 60 during busy times is noticable to many.

Another review I trust, honestly the only reviewer I trust. I don't buy games ever based on reviews but this man knows more about the stuff he talks about than actual "brands" that have channels based around "reviews" I can't wait to pick this game up tomorrow
Even at 60fps I wish the game ran smoother, maybe a 120 fps mode. It feels like Final Fantasy 15 on the original PS4. I was so happy when the Xbox One X version came out and the jerky motion went away.
One question regarding the voice over: is it possible to switch dub on the fly? One thing I like to do when a dub doesn't click for me is to switch to a different language and see if they made a better job.
I agree about the movement the demo didn't feel as smooth to run around as I was expecting neir levels.. I will definitely pick this up at the end of the year though
I do think playing the game in its native language improved the characters & overall emotion of the story as the VA work & acting gave off a better feel for the story. The EN voice cast are all good actors in other games they've been in so it may have been a problem with the direction they were given. With the demo playing on Korean language was more enjoyable i would say.
This game (along with FF7Rebirth) is one that makes me want to get a PS5. I’m glad more Korean developers are breaking into the “mainstream” console/pc gaming space, Lies of P was a title that was a bit janky but overall was an enjoyable title in the soulsborne genre. This looks like it would scratch the itch that I have for a character action game.
Will probably get it on sale. Definitely gets points for not being a sequel or remake despite the (I assume) hefty budget, as well as being far more gameplay driven than most of Sony's exclusives as of late.
For me, I agree that some elements of the game are out of date. the most frustrating thing about combat in this game is when fighting larger groups of enemies, they clip through each other and ignore each others damage from attacks
How's the general difficulty compared to the bossrush mode in the demo? Not really my genre so I got all the asses including my own handed to me there.
I always enjoy your reviews. I'm having lightweight buyer's remorse but I'll wait until I play it myself tonight. I thoroughly enjoyed the demo but of course, that's devoid of any real story elements. I keep hearing how much this game is like Nier: Automatica which is a game I own but never played.
Fantastic review but I have one question, I know you said that the writing was a negative, but were the characters any good, interesting, or memorable despite the voice acting being lackluster?
The game is a blast despite it's shortcomings and the character design issues are just no-life persons with political agendas and personal issues really, not sure why people care this much. This has a combat system magic that deserves to thrive and be perfected in a follow-up release. Very happy with my purchase of this game and the performance has been good, rare by today's standards.
Yeah, lies of p is way better I think, and I'm still sad there was never a full lies of p review :( It is definitely one of the best soulslikes out there imo
Lies of P was very good, but man all of those 2 health bar bosses were a real drag. I hated that. Some of the later bosses were really challenging! Great game.
Man, looking at the traversal, combat, upgrade system, etc. makes me wonder if the game would have gotten half the attention it did without the controversy over the protagonist? I mean, if the protagonist were switched out for a spec ops dude or something would there still be enough inherently fun gameplay to get people interested? Definitely a difference between this and Nier Automata, which had a lovely protagonist but also had exquisitely creative gameplay. Just a thought.
I wasn't expecting it to be much good but when I played the demo I was surprised how fun and high quality the game felt. Also I feel like there's nothing wrong with enjoying a game more because you think the protagonist is sexy just like you can like a protagonist for being badass or funny or any other reason. I feel like people should think about why it makes them so uncomfortable for other people to enjoy things like that.
Great review if a little less in depth from your usual reviews. I was waiting for your review as you are one of the few I actually trust to be completely honest.

So what you're saying is it's 11/10. Fantastic.
Platinum girls are still the best.
Nah
Platinum combat is still the best too. Bayonetta, Astral Chain.
It's like bayonetta?......sold.
I like weird games.
Great review as always and I'm planning on buying this game
Great review felt very fair
Glad you liked it
@@ACGreviews with how people are around this game I appreciate a great level headed review so keep up the hard work
For me a wait for sale, not worth my 80 euro. But for the lovers, happy game time.
I didn't feel the combat until I beat the first boss. Then I was like....ok I get it. Can't wait to see how it evolves.
I agree about the movement the demo didn't feel as smooth to run around as I was expecting neir levels.. I will definitely pick this up at the end of the year though
Ya its off a bit
What was most jarring to me in the demo regarding movement is how slow it gets when you toggle the lockon, guess we'll just have to get used to it
Enjoying stellar blade digital deluxe edition.🥂✌🏾😎
I really liked the demo. Played it for a couple hours.
Nice Review!
Couldn't look at the footage since it's too risky for me... and I would like to go in as blind as possible :>
I've only been listening to these video reviews as well 😄😄😄
Thanks for the honest review. Might pick this up.
I liked it! Beat it once. The amount deserts and fishing was too much though. Sound effects when fighting are crazy satisfying.
Between this and Lies of P I’m excited for the future of Korean games
This game (along with FF7Rebirth) is one that makes me want to get a PS5.
I’m glad more Korean developers are breaking into the “mainstream” console/pc gaming space, Lies of P was a title that was a bit janky but overall was an enjoyable title in the soulsborne genre. This looks like it would scratch the itch that I have for a character action game.
Will probably get it on sale. Definitely gets points for not being a sequel or remake despite the (I assume) hefty budget, as well as being far more gameplay driven than most of Sony's exclusives as of late.
Quite a... Cheeky title you have there
its an arse of a title
For me, I agree that some elements of the game are out of date. the most frustrating thing about combat in this game is when fighting larger groups of enemies, they clip through each other and ignore each others damage from attacks
i'll wait for the PC port by Nixxes, next year ?
How's the general difficulty compared to the bossrush mode in the demo? Not really my genre so I got all the asses including my own handed to me there.
The kind of crack that doesnt kill
Thanks for the review!
Hope it comes to PC someday
Really solid and tight review my dude. I subscribed and looking forward to more 🍿
Fantastic review but I have one question, I know you said that the writing was a negative, but were the characters any good, interesting, or memorable despite the voice acting being lackluster?
The game is a blast despite it's shortcomings and the character design issues are just no-life persons with political agendas and personal issues really, not sure why people care this much. This has a combat system magic that deserves to thrive and be perfected in a follow-up release. Very happy with my purchase of this game and the performance has been good, rare by today's standards.
ShiftUp are phone game developers. This was their first console game.
Really miss the sound section where we could hear the game, but I presume there’s a reason for it’s disappearance. Thanks for the review!
I guess comments help you and I love your content and style so here it is. Keep it up!
I’m glad to hear the enemies have some challenging ai to go with their great designs.
The people who have problems with the couple of cracks in this game tend to live near the Grand Canyon or the Midwest flatlands.
That was a fair assessment. No more buy wait for sale or skip?
He said buy at the end.
“for me it’s worth getting, and that’s the rating”
I had to watch the whole video three times and still come to the comments to find it
Yeah, lies of p is way better I think, and I'm still sad there was never a full lies of p review :( It is definitely one of the best soulslikes out there imo
Yeah, what games he chooses to review always drives me nuts
