  • Today we have the privilege of reviewing the Ergotron HX monitor arm with HD pivot, perfect for mounting monitors with a 1000R curvature. To demonstrate, we used this impressive arm to help mount the Samsung G9 Odyssey monitor, which is the perfect example for the type of monitor this mount was designed to hold. It's easy to set up yourself and only takes about 15 minutes to assemble and mount the monitor.
    We wanted to feature this monitor arm in particular because we found it the best demonstrates fluid, effortless movement. Ergotron do use their own patented Constant Force Technology to achieve this though, making it a totally unique mounting solution you won't find anywhere else. On the plus side, there's also a 10 year warranty with Erotron so your're covered no matter what happens.

    Of all the reviews I found for this stand, yours is the only one to show how far back the stand can fold, which was what I was looking for.

      It can even be positioned so the arm is behind the desk, allowing for a greater viewing distance. Just unscrew the bottom screw a bit, the one at the base of the bottom arm, and judge if you think your monitor provides enough downward weight to keep everything secure. Been using my 48" LG C1 like this for over a year, all good, not a hint of wobble.

    I have one also with the G9. I like it. The problem is that you cannot really put the screen exactly where you want it to be. For example I put it so it was close to my desk and in the exact center. Then recently, I added 2 small monitors just under the G9, and so I raised it. But by raising it, now the G9 is not in the center of the desk anymore because when raising the arm it has also moved to the side. Now I have to disassemble it so I can move the clamp to have the monitor in the center while maintaining its height.

    Great video and solved my issue thanks! I had been tightening the screw on top and wondering why it wasn’t holding the weight until i watched this video and realised there’s a third screw to tighten! 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 Got my new G9 57 perfectly mounted with the Ergotron HX now!

      So is it good enough to sustain the 57 inch version without any tilting down? Like perfect 90 degrees or even tilt up a bit?

    • @NotoriousGremio
      @NotoriousGremio 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ovidyu it does tilt down a bit but for me it’s just fine, way better than the stand that comes with it as it took up my entire desk. I’ve seen people add an extra screw to fix the angle they want but then it’s hard to adjust. I went with this one as it was the only one I could find rated for the weight and fitting my secretlab Magnus desk

      Wait... isn't this the "heavy duty" one? Says "with HD Pivot"...
      Also, I am wondering what is the difference between the normal one and the heavy duty one? The local store I could find this monitor arm has both listed (the heavy duty one "out of stock"), but on both it says "compatible with 49"" and "supports up to 19.1kg weight", so the specifications seem to be the same. And on both products they have pictures showing it with a Samsung 49" Odyssey... I'm confused

    Is there a posibility to move arm/monitor enough to set it like 180° (turn around)? I have a table in the middle of my room and would like to use it normally at work, but also turn around sometimes when I am at kitchen side of my room.

    This vid was so helpful! There’s one part I’m still confused by - is the HD Pivot you’re talking about the same as the HX heavy duty head mount designed to support the Samsung odyssey 49” curved monitor or is the HD Pivot another new head allowing the monitor more viewing angles and rotation options? Or is it a new arm which comes with the heavy duty head built in so you don’t need to buy it separately? It was explained to me in another video as a different head giving more viewing angles. Or do I have that wrong? Thanks for any help anyone can give me 👍🏻

    If i wanted the monitor to be over to the left of the desk with the screen left edge matching the desk left edge to allow room for tower pc on the right of my desk is it better to mount the stand to the back left or back right of the desk?

    Good review! Thanks!
    However, I am still confused about something... What is the difference between the normal one and the heavy duty one? Also, "with HD Pivot" means it is the heavy duty one, right?
    The local store I could find this monitor arm has both listed, both have the same price (the heavy duty one being "out of stock"), and it says "compatible with 49inch" and "supports up to 19.1kg weight" on both of them, so the specifications seem to be the same. Hi! The HD variant is specifically designed to support the heavier, curved ultra wide monitors, more specifically the Samsung G9. Where as the regular mount is great for just any large monitor. You can buy the HX Heavy-Duty Tilt Pivot accessory for the regular HX monitor mount if you wanted to mount a G9 to it but the HD version is better suited for it if you can get a hold of it.

    • @MStoica
      @MStoica ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm still confused. In the specs I see "19.1 kg" at the supported weight and "49 inch" for monitor size compatibility on both variants of the arm (with HD and without HD in the title). So this means they're both compatible with G9 (49 inch) and both have max weight 19.1 kg 🤷🏻‍♂ Plus, I see an illustration with the G9 on both products. Wondering if there is a way to visually spot the difference between the HD variant and the normal one... From the pictures, the pivot looks the same. Not sure in reality

    • @BoxCoUk
      @BoxCoUk  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MStoica Hi, I don't think it's a visual difference, it will be in the build. The G9 is the one of the biggest monitors you can buy so the HD version will have internal modifications to help support the shape and size. Some have said that they had bought the regular HX arm for their G9 and it couldn't hold it up properly but once they tried the HD pivot, it held it perfectly in position. It must be the springs or increased strength in the hinges. I feel they made this HD version specifically for the G9 after having users feedback that the regular version couldn't hold it as well.

    • @MStoica
      @MStoica ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the thorough reply. What you're saying makes complete sense, you must be right. Thank you!
      So I really don't need the HD if I never plan to get the G9. I would at most accept a 34 inch, for work. And I don't do gaming.

    • @BoxCoUk

      If you mount it in the middle, the monitor does stick out from the wall quite a bit so if you want it closer to the wall I'd mount it to the side. It's all down to personal preference

    • @BoxCoUk
      @BoxCoUk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! You can practically push it flat to the wall by twisting the arm to the side. It does sit roughly 2 inches away from the wall like this but it's doable. You can kind of see how far back it goes at 3:22
