I hated that chapter. There was no reason for Claude's forces to fight the Blue Lions, but they did for...reasons?
@@sdtrawick The option to attack Claude would be cool and then yellow units would attack you. But like Claude openly flanks you, one could argue it's a strat to destroy both nations at once but it's just a really bad chapter for BL's narrative.
@@sdtrawick The Gronder Field map is just poorly thought out. There is 0 reason for you to attack Claude and vice versa (you both share the common goal of wanting to stop the Empire), but it could've worked if it was a Fog map, especially since at least in GD, on the day before the battle, Hilda is complaining about how foggy it is and someone comments they will have to be careful with the fog.

Edit: My first playthrough was with Blue Lions, Ingrid was my third best unit. SHE WAS BETTER THAN FELIX, ANNETTE, AND SYLVAIN. And I didn't take her into a class that gives strength growth.
My ingrid is level 39 and her str is 28, even with bringing her to str growth class
“Bye Claude, see you in golden deer I guess” I think I said this exact thing to myself when I saw what happened. Same thing with the battle at gronder stuff. I still love this route though. And the characters man hoo boy. When Dedue dedied, I flipped my stuff and when he came back I was over the moon.

I played GD route first, so seeing Claude dip out and being slightly suspicious in every conversation in BL made me laugh.
I have really never been so happy to see a character alive in a videogame before until Dedue came back from the… Dedead.
If you understand Claude's character his intentions is beyond just the current war
He wants to ensure the closest possible victory for his goal.
And by aiding the likely victor aka the side with the sword of the creator and handing over the alliance he and Dimitri will likely be able to form an allaince between Fodlan and Almyra

I love Ashe, but I'm going to need some strength level ups and not just dex, res and speed in that order. We are not having another Leo from RD incident!! My entire play of BL was this whole video, you truly captured the experience perfectly, and I’m so glad I’m not the only one Increasingly Mildly Bothered™ by Ingrid’s nonexistent strength stat.

i think i got super lucky with my ingrid. everyone always complained about her shit str but mine was completely fine throughout the whole game.
Ingrid was shit to me until I realize she just became my most powerful avoid tank and has very high resistance. I don't know how did that happen, but I'm happy.
When Dark Flier comes out...
In my usual strategy, Ingrid doesn't need strength because she will always be one of the 3 best dodge tanks in the entire game. If you take the flying routes with her early on you can get up to 120 Avo by the end of the game with a good gambit and Alert Stance+. I would argue that Ingrid should almost never attack except to finish an enemy off, she should just get experience from dodging enemy attacks and counterattacking with a bow or lance.

The ending cinematic just proved how good of a villain Edelgard was, using Dimitri’s token of love to try and kill him with it, that’s some hardcore studf
Well she used it they way Dimitri asked her to use it ... To cut her own path until the very end with it...
One thing tragically consistent about Edelgard is she will not surrender and will not compromise, even when she knows Dimitri, Byleth and Claude want many of the same things as her and don't want to kill her. In her mind there is only complete victory or death.

@Weston Meyer I doubt that. Firstly I doubt Nintendo would do something like that. Secondly, if that was the plan why was the knife stuck in Dimitri's chest really close to where his heart would be? Pretty sure that counts as a last ditch attack.
@@simeonrice6047 Edelgard wouldn't have missed if she really wanted Dimitri dead in that moment. Trust me, suicide was exactly what she was going for, after all, she hates Rhea because she sees her as a monster holding an iron grip on humanity and she saw herself as a savior of sorts but when the one person she desired (Byleth) fought against her and her entire army was falling apart and her last chance to win was to ironically become a monster herself, an act of hypocrisy mind you, she clearly lost the will live in that moment. That's the tragedy and interesting bit of Azure Moon, insanity wins in the end.

Fun fact: with two mages who can warp, a strong unit (I used Byleth, but others might work as well), and a dancer, you can warp one unit forward, warp a White mage forward (who knows Warp), warp your strong unit to be close to the boss, and beat the level in five moves

Played blue lions 1st because I wanted to not follow the crowd and now it's still my favorite route after doing Everything and I'm developing a superiority complex help
What did everyone else do first? I did BL first because I like blue, I like lions, that guy with the spear gets an eyepatch and a cape later, and his class looks the least like a bunch of ugly copy paste bimbos (much less the last one tho)

Yeah the Blue Lions has a more down-to-Earth feel and all seem really close at the start unlike other houses. They all are directly affected or part of the story so it made the experience of having them first was so good

For sure! The Apex of the World is my favourite track in the entire game, possibly the whole franchise. The first time I heard it in Azure Moon I legitimately shed some tears.
The Blue Lions route makes you want to do one of two things:
1. Play a female character so you can marry Dimitri
2. Wish you weren't an idiot and that you had chosen female character so you could marry Dimitri
3. Always play as the female character so you can marry Dimitri.
4. Make sure Dimitri is happy and have lots and lots of babies with him.
(He's perfect husband material.)

Was not ready for the ending of this route man. The final cinematic and Dimitri's arc coming full circle... I thought I was safe but the feels got me good. Really enjoyed this route and the dynamic between the four childhood friends has to be my favorite part.

I actually just finished my first Azure Moon clear today and I relate to the feels, but I thought the ending cinematic was super well done and overall it was just a good experience.

Yeah, that ending for Blue Lions was great. I stand by my assessment: BL path has the most character moments, most drama, and most satisfying ending (even if you never did a damn thing with Those Who Slither in the Dark)
Which means Those Who Slither are free to work against the Church, and you'll have no idea they're doing it. Some happy ending.

You do get to kill Thales when he's acting as Arundel, effectively ruining their chain of command. The Blue Lions still do the least damage to TWSITD, but at least you got to see it on-screen (unlike the Black Eagles. Still pissed about the length).
Zachataxx II I’m guessing they’ll save it for the 4th wave of dlc. I think we’ll get the other half then, or we’ll get another route entirely, but I’m pretty sure that’s where the other half of her route went

@@zachataxxii7126 Thing about Crimson Flower is, you get rid of everything that could let you take TWSITD on the way you do in VW/SS. In Azure Moon, you run around like a headless chicken so much that Thales doesn't see you coming; in CF's epilogue, they've basically won, and any real move against TWSITD will likely be met with Javelins of Light

You don't even need to have dimitri fight at all. just stick battallion vantage and battallion wrath plus personal battallion (damaged) plus killer weapon = every enemy that dare attacks dimitri dimitri crits before they can try.

true. honestly, BL is the best route to do first. You get to see the leadup to the discovery of the Flame Emperor, you don't have anything spoiled about TWSITD (given how Hubert says you have to hunt them down after killing Edelgard), and you get to see a more personal story (as opposed to ANY of the other three routes).

I literally just finished my fourth run and am getting that after game sadness that I won't be able to experience this masterpiece for the first time ever again. Then your video comes out and reminds me of all the fun times I had on my first run, over a month ago now. (did BL, GD, then all the BE stuff in two runs) Really cheered me up, thanks dude, really looking forward to the rest of them.
I think I speak for all of us when I say that last bit was the most relatable and heart-wrenching things I've ever seen. That cutscene really makes you power life and reevaluate what really matters.

When you mentioned Annette not getting any speed growths, it reminded me of the Lucky Crit video where not only did she get a *drum roll* lucky crit, but she got a speed growth right after Byleth didn’t. On a similar note, I apparently got REALLY lucky with Ashe on my BL run, he got strength growths pretty much every other level. Regarding the final boss though, I made sure to set everything up so that Dimitri got the killing blow with the only time I actually used Atrocity since I’m one of those people that save Relics for endgame.

I can't tell who is better or worse. Annette gets rally str at lvl 1, so you know her role from the get go. Ignatz comes with curve shot, so it lets you avoid Hanneman and Dorothea's counter attack, and they hit real hard in maddening. And once you somehow miraculously get Ignatz pass level 5, he has good speed and physic, on top of getting rally speed better.
@@FFXfever Annette uses Magic, Magic in this game is godlike. Ignatz is a mediocre Attacker with shit hit rate despite his skill. He gains Rallys by just training his Authority. That's all you need

Bruh I didn't even know that it was necessary to do the duscur parlouge to get dedue back because that was like the only one I did on my first playthrough and I'm glad I did cause I would've been so upset if he was gone. I did it cause I was interested in the duscur story
How I beat the final boss was dumb, I buffed Dmitri and Annette with Retribution( temporary Distant counter) then let the boss attack me as far as possible while keeping there health up. Together they one rounded each of the bosses health bars I never used retribution after that ever again.
Edit: this is with the boss's close range move not the long range. I don't know if that would work.
Edit: You can't counter the long range attack.
