I've looked up biorhythm multiple times and still have no idea how it works
@@_Stormfather Essentially, Biorythm was meant to emulate the ebb and flow of combat morale. As a Chapter plays out, each turn your Units' Biorythm adjusts up or down in accordance to how well they perform, enemy placement, etc. (supposedly); when BR is green and upwards, the unit has better Hit, Avoid, and Crit %, which is inverted as BR plummets and becomes red. The genuinely most interesting application of this is during the Chapter at the dam in Daein, when we fight Jill's Father. The ENTIRE Chapter, Jill's BR is in the red, reflecting her depression as she fights not just her countrymen, but her family as well.
BR as a whole just kinda failed to entice new strategic thinking, as high enough stats and weapons could still steamroll even during Negative Biorythm times.

The main problem with this mechanic is that you have to check it in character profile and I doubt that everybody would look it up each turn for each character.
After sometime you forget that it even exists. I myself read about it in 3/4 different sources and still I'm not 100% sure how it works.
Radiant dawn displays it better by showing the arrow beneath the name on characters' preview while hovering with a cursor.
Nonthanless I like the idea of it and I think that if it was expanded more to be moral system sort of think, then it could be more intresting. Like tanking down enemies' morale by blasting them with arrows, magic or killing captain's would be fun.

I love all the mechanic storytelling in this game done through menus and inventories. Stuff like Ike coming in with 4 iron swords shows how nervous he was, and decided to carry in all 4 in case he broke one or lost one. It's cute :3
My favorite though is Jill's biorythm in the chapter where you fight her father and his men. Jill's biorythm will stay at its worst throughout the entire chapter and never rise, which results in her bad hit rate, and showing her hesitance to strike down her old comrades, essentially her family, and her lack of focus on the implications of striking the enemy down so she can continue fighting with the group. It shows a mix of resolve and a desire to hide her inner feelings of regret and sorrow.
A lot of the FE games have stuff like this, but POR just nails it for me.

There's also that thing where Jill's father can recruit her back into being an enemy if you park her adjacent to him and she doesn't have an A support with Mist.
@@jonathan4554 An "A" Support with Lethe also works to firm her resolve for your cause. I liked the fact that Jill had multiple avenues for actually growing as a character and keeping her from going back with her father, if you're mean enough (like me) to test her by having them fight.
I read somewhere that the iron sword thing is a bug exclusive to the NA version. If so, a rare instance of a bug adding to the story, haha
really? my Jill was just so op at the time that she one-rounded everything with 100% accuracy. All hail bexp.

You also miss out on the best Sonic Sword user in the game aside from *maybe* Elincia (who comes at nearly the end of the game.) Sonic Sword Mist is *hilariously* powerful, being able to 1RKO most Generals.

I just BEXPed her to level 10 and early-promoted her. She has enough magic to heal decently (on a defense-screwed Ike. Less defense than Zihark, he had) and it's possible for her to survive the other enemies until the time runs out. Don't always be so nervous to train Mist throughout the entire game.
Mister Koopsy ^this. You’re not going to fully level her anyway so don’t worry about early promoting her. Her promoted class gives her a horse her to canto in the BK fight, which is godsend.

Heavy Infantry units take TOO LONG to do the thing.
I played through both Tellius games multiple times with battle animations on the whole time. I don't care how long it takes to finish the game. I just love seeing the battles.
I was having a lot of trouble getting through maps because the animations took so long I'd forget my plan. This is luckily no longer an issue in newer games since the transition to and speed of the battles is so streamlined.

I got Volke to lv20 rather early because I couldn't remember when he auto promotes, so I used Sothe for a long while cause he was such a good fighter. Also, Radiant Dawn bonuses.
@@AlejandroRodolfoMendez Well with his growth's and defense he's worth using, he'll cap and be impossible to kill and then you get the bonuses in RD. Though with or without bonuses he gets to endgame without being able to one shot anything anymore, and doesn't get lethality for some reason.
@@kr1spness outside of marginally useful thief utility, sothe isn't worth using in path of radiance for any reason other than satisfaction. you can raise him if you want, and he'll probably perform adequately due to how easy fe9 is, but compared to the rest of the team, he sucks. bad bases, no promo bonuses, asscheeks weapon type, and super hard to train due to low exp gain from blossom, his aforementioned dogshit bases, and being knifelocked. radiant dawn sothe may even end up worse with transfer bonuses due to his level 20 stats carrying over, and fe10 sothe is not a unit you can really afford to gimp due to how powerful and crucial he is in part 1.
Ah yes Mekkkah's bridge is hilarious and at the same time pretty annoying of a map if you fall for Mekkkah's.

Yes, you need that bonus experience, but you also need to rescue and carry to the exit those prisoners, grab the items and kill the boss, so you spend like an hour restarting, pushing, smiting, rescuing, until you realise there isn't enough squares outside of enemy range to get through with every unit you need and now you have missed the cycle and have to wait for twelve fucking turns, so actually you won't get any BEXP for fast completion, and that's why the prison break map is the best map in the entire series.

@@AzyYusry Emulation of more modern consoles (i.e. those that support 3D graphics) can also hog memory like no one's business, and run slow as hell. It's why I quickly gave up on Dolphin back in the day when trying to play Path of Radiance on Maniac Mode, though I imagine it would be easier now.

I got a recent updated one a few months back and it chugged on my new computer, and I didn't even have anything going on in the background it's stupid crazy, but I think either my computer finally got used to it, or the recent update it got actually fixed my issue of the constant crashes I've been having

We've all been there when the Black Knight decided to just knock knock from inside that house, and scare all our units to bolt...
He same turn attacked and killed my Zihark. I was so shocked that I redid the chapter something like 3 times with worse and worse strategies until somehow I got through it without BK killing anyone. My best strat was when I tried to lock him inside the house by leaving Ike in front of the door..... yeah........ 😂 the only time I saw the game over screen....

I don't think we ever get an explanation of the name "Path of Radiance".
Maybe we do, but I didn't pay attention.
Ike is called the Radiant Hero, I'm guessing the title is about the fact that this is Ike's own story. "Radiant Dawn" is obviously about both Ike and Micaiah, plus it sounds cool and send shivers down my spine in that part of the game in which Ike looks at the sunset and says "it's almost dawn".
It was originally called "Path of the Blue Flame" in Japan... to reflect the blue aura emanating from the Fire Emblem.
Path of Radiance was probably a cooler title, however.
I think it works best if you think of it in context with the sequel "Radiant Dawn" together.
The "Radiant Dawn" itself is the turning of history into a new era at the end of Radiant Dawn's story, where the goddess is wholly complete and the races/ nations are no longer divided by the threat of war. It's a comparatively "radiant" period when juxtaposed to the strained state of the world before, and "dawn" is just the new age of peace coming in.
The "Path of Radiance" is the build-up that allows the Dawn to take shape. Without Ike and Elincia moving throughout the nations in the first game, building connections and forming bonds that never would have been possible otherwise, the Radiant Dawn had absolutely no chance of happening, ever. Humanity would have all been turned to statues (or doomed some other way) and the goddess would have remained split. It is, in almost a literal sense, the "Path taken to the Radiant Dawn" without actually reaching the ending point, so it's the Path of Radiance.
Longwinded and over-explained, I know. I'm just trying to clear with my thoughts.

Honestly, I felt like the story was pretty self-contained, though. It certainly left room for a sequel, but the only thing making the story feel incomplete is Sephiran's cryptic comment at the end. Because other than that...
- The war is over
- Elincia's taken the throne
- Ike's beaten the Black Knight (if you were lucky enough to get at least one Aether proc)
- Ike's back to being a mercenary
- The Begnion laguz slave trade has been exposed
- Naesala's made amends to Reyson
I just feel like there's a lot more in this game's story that feels complete than incomplete. Of course, I may be a little biased because I didn't get to play Radiant Dawn for almost five years after the first time I played Path of Radiance. XD

@@bismix4 just a word of advice: the devs miss translated the name of the difficulty. easy is normal, normal is hard, and hard is maniac or lunatic. there is no easy. maniac does not have weapon triangle nor enemy range.

Once you know how to do it well, it's pretty easy to repeat. It takes a lot of turns, but not actually that much time. And having the BEXP to dump on Kieran or Jill is really nice. I don't think I'll ever play the chapter without taking the stealth route again.
@@SharurFoF The whole process is not THAT bad, I agree, but the only part I really don't like doing it's killing the boss, since he's a beefy General and you need to kill him in, like, 2 turns max before on the patrolling soldier spots you.
And then Hard mode decides to add archers to his henchmen because lol screw you.
@@Chosen_Din Because of the chests there's a choke point where Titania can ORKO everything except the boss with a hand axe without being in range of the patrolling soldier. You can even have Volke opening some of the chests in complete safety while this is happening. I generally have Titania go up top first with Volke for that reason (as well as the fact that Oscar needs to talk to Kieran anyway, though maybe that's only on Maniac? I forget).
@@SharurFoF Hmmm, Titania is the best candidate for killing the boss for sure, but the solution I use has Titania all the way down rescuing the other prisoners and evading the patrolling soldiers, so you have to use other units to do the job (Boyd and a well trained Soren can do the job... if you get lucky with Soren's adept anyway), so killing the boss it's certainly harder for me.
And I think you can talk to Kieran with Ike and he will be recruited anyway.
All in all, I'll probably never do the stealth approach again, since I don't find the extra bonus experience all that helpful anyway cuz PoR is not a hard game at all. Stil, thanks for the tidbits! They sound pretty helpful.
Oooh man, the lack of dark magic actually hurt my heart when I first played. I got over it quick, the Radiant games are fantastic, but I loved dark magic in Blazing Sword and Sacred Stones, so losing that was upsetting.

When I was a kid, watching my sisters play PoR was my only exposure to Fire Emblem aside from Smash, so when I actually picked up my first game, Echoes, I thought Dark Magic was an Echoes specific variant of magic XD

Understand, I first saw this when it came out, and only now after thinking about it in a shower do I realize that the reason behind the Mekkah’s Bridge joke is because it is full of pitfalls.
Truly, the human intellect at its finest.
It's important that no matter how much fun you may be having with a video game, you always remember to take breaks to grab a bite to eat, drink some water, or go to the bathroom. In this regard, Path of Radiance enemy phases are very user friendly.
