    I appreciate your honest comparison, I really wanted to see something like this. I had to go for the T GT II because I already had the H pattern shifter for it and I mainly drive vehicles with clutch and h pattern shifters, so to match that on the Fanatec I would have ended spending 500 dollars more between shifter and upgraded pedals. In addition, I have had bad experiences with Fanatec products in the past. Nevertheless, it was a painful decision, it does bother me because it seems that the dd is definitely a superior product, but at this point in time the thrustmaster was the right one for my budget. But I completely agree, the T GT II is overpriced and it should be in the 500-600 dollar range.

    • @afons
      @afons  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      The T-GT2 is a great wheel! You have a solid, versatile set up! The DD does feel like the future but that by no means discredits the TGTs positives. Thanks for your comment x

      I know it wont help you now but for anybody else in the future in this situation you can get a drivehub adapter if your on console so you can mix&match fanatec/thrustmaster/logitech wheels, pedals and shifters. If your on pc then all you need is usb adapter. The Drivehub adapter is about 90usd which isn't bad if you already have invested a lot into one eco system vs starting from scratch.
      I'm using one with my ps4 to run my thrustmaster t300, thrustmaster T-LCM pedals with a fanatec 1.5SQ shifter. Obviously I could have saved almost 150 had I got the thrustmaster th8 shifter but a good H shifter was important to me and the fanatec is about the best you can get in the sub 300 range. It would of cost me 200ish for thrustmaster shifter, ended up costing me 280 for fanatec shifter with usb adapter plus another 90 for the drivehub.
      I will upgrade to a dd wheel and heusinkveld sprint pedals at some point soon but I'm pretty satisfied with my current set up for now. Wish the pedals had more feel in the clutch and throttle but the loadcell brake is great for now and I think I can modify the clutch to feel more real and natural instead of the numb, linear feel. I'm going to add some bass shakers for gear changes, basic suspension/tire feedback and engine revs as well plus a couple small ones to mount directly to the shifter for grinding and what not and one directly to the brake pedal for abs effects, more finer details.
      I know with the transducers you have to prioritize what you want to feel or your just going to feel a big mess of vibrations and it will be like your on a big ol'e vibrator instead of driving a race car lol. I can't wait to get a motion platform. Dof reality h3/p3 looks great for the money.
      There is also the Yaw vr and yaw2 for less than 2 grand. They don't look the best for sim racing, but for just about everything else it looks like they would be pretty cool. You could actually own both a yaw vr and 3dof dof reality motion rig for under 5 grand. Lol not that it's super cheap I know but when you think about the capabilities of what they can do it's pretty neat.

      Exactly, the pedals that came with TGT2 are the T3PA which is like the basic of pedals from Thrustmaster and has been around for like 8 years? to be paired with something new like the TGT2 is really a bummer. Everything I’ve heard about the GT DD Pro is great but the problem is they don’t ship outside of Europe except a few countries.

      Well that sucks! I'm in Australia and just ordered the DD Pro no issue but I know how you feel as most colours of Levi Jeans and certain Nike shoes (mainly flyknit versions and some Jordan's) "can't" be bought or delivered here! I don't get it as money is money, as long as you're paying the same with conversion, why would they pass up sales?
      If you have online friends overseas you can trust, maybe send them the cash and get them to forward the wheel to you.

    Never used a wheel before, but after finishing all the Cafe "Menus" in GT7 I decided to get one, grabbed a Logitech G29 in a sale, I know it's not as flash as some of the more expensive ones, but for a first wheel it's excellent, responsive and my lap times have dropped, well worth a look if you're a first timer, like I was. :-)

    • @afons
      @afons  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Huge congrats on the g29! It’s an awesome little thing if you are just getting started. The level of immersion you get compared to pad is next level. I’m glad you are enjoying it. I call the g29 the “gateway wheel” as its good enough to captivate you, and there’s so much room for improvement that you don’t know exists (or even know you need) that it leads to more purchases. Beware of that and enjoy to the max!

    I feel that you need the 8nm for it to compete. When i went to dd after my cswv2.5 i was let down testing a 5nm dd but 10nm was amazing. I felt just as much from my cswv2.5 as a 5nm dd wheel. It was stronger also then the dd wheel and almost almost as smooth bevause i mean the cswv2 5 was just the goat of belts. But the tgt2 is very close so i couldnt imsgien going to a 5nm dd and switching from a 6 to 7nm belt wheel.
    Ive found dd truely shoes itself at 10+nm they were clearly designed for stronger motors due to hoe fluid and smooth they are. Having less friction can trick the brain with power. Plus many of these sims were desigbed by using belt wheels so they will hsve a special feel on some titles the extra power will make up for that with dd though.
    Load cell is what makes you gain time much better much better. Helps so much with precision and consistency which will make you faster.

    I have the GT DD Pro and have to say that the GT wheel is very underwhelming. Rubber instead of leather, the paddles feel like a toy, the d-pad is terrible, it feels cheap and nasty and is quite loud as you showed in your video. I also have the Podium series Porsche 911 GT3 R which cost me $1000 AUD and even the buttons on that feel cheap, nasty and loud. Only the paddles feel nice.
    In comparison the Thrustmaster Ferrari 599xx wheel I’ve had for several years, the buttons feel nice, a feel of quality and are quiet. The Alcantara still holds up after all these years. It’s just disappointing when spending so much money. Not to mention I always seem to be troubleshooting something with Fanatec. My GT DD Pro has issues which I’ve learned are quite common and I will likely have to have it replaced and hope for the best that the next one will be ok, basically like a lottery that you’ll either get a good one, or you’ll get a dud. Luckily my CSL DD is ok but honestly I’m seriously considering going back to Thrustmaster and saying goodbye to Fanatec.
    I hope those who are purchasing a GT DD Pro for GT7 will be happy with their purchase and hope they won’t run into any issues or the typical Fanatec problems, especially if they’re a first timer into sim racing wheels.

    Great video dude. In the UK, we have the added wonder of Brexit, meaning Fanatec shipping to the UK adds additional VAT (I'm guessing 20%) meaning TGT2 bundle = £600, DD Pro bundle a whopping £855!

      You're paying £110 less than in Australia, just paid $1740 AUD (with a $40 discount). 10% of that is GST tax though.

    • @Jayjayuk12345
      @Jayjayuk12345 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Uhh, this makes no difference to how much VAT you pay.
      You only pay EU VAT for items shipped within the EU.
      When we were in the EU you would pay the tax to Fanatec direct, (same amount 20%) under the EU-UK VAT agreement and it's included in the final price... typically now when you purchase something from the EU to the UK since Brexit the VAT is usually removed at point of sale, and you instead pay UK VAT at customs. It works out the same 20%. If Fanatec are charging uk VAT at point of sale, then they must have a company based in the UK registered for VAT either way you don't pay it twice! you may however need to pay import fees. This is a different thing though.
      Likewise you do not charge UK VAT if goods are exported from: Great Britain to a destination outside the UK

    • @Johnnyjawbone
      @Johnnyjawbone 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jayjayuk12345 So in simple terms the customs fee on top of the regular 20% VAT then. I don't know how much the customs import fee will be. I'm guessing it won't be pennies.
      There is the added complication of UPS then creating an account and charging you this invoice for the customs fee. It's basically a massive pain in the ass.

    • @Jayjayuk12345
      @Jayjayuk12345 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Johnnyjawbone I edited my post a few times to try to explain that a bit better.
      Yeah, seems UPS will pay the VAT on your behalf and collect it from you as well as the charges for that service. Should be be able to find out how much that is though.
      To test, I just added something to my basket at Fanatec, and at checkout it removed the 20% EU VAT from the total price once i chose UK as delivery address.
      I don't think you need to open a UPS account though, Fanatec state UPS are their delivery partners. They will ask for payment of the 20% Vat + Fees on delivery i guess.

      You are absolutely correct, I should have mentioned that. The 5nm is less than the TGT (which outputs 6nm) so I didn’t even get into it. it’s been said that the boost kit is almost essential to this bundle (I would argue even more important than the load cell initially). But that's totally untrue. Even with a little raw talent inside off you your gonna get quicker instantly and then when used to it you finally can start really pushing and if your going over it,you feel if it was you or if it was that you passed the limit of the car.
    Atleast when playing a true Sim like ACC.
    So please give a true honest review and tell the guys if you really want a wheel. You start saving until you have enough for a Direct drive. Then you only need to buy 1 wheel and not 2 or 3 wheels because you feel like your missing things wich you do.

    Hey! Great video! :) Will go for the DD pro, but don't know, which racing seat is the best (bc even the pricy ones aren't that good according to customer reviews). What kind of setup are you using?

      Sorry it too me so long to get back (was in the literal process of changing set up).
      Check out my latest video where i go over my whole set up! The video description has all the components too in case you dont want to watch the whole thing!
      Thanks for the interest and hope it helps!!!

      I got it in some local stores. One thing I’d recommend (it’s going to sound weird) is strapping the seat belts it comes with. When we brake, our lower back tends to come forward and that not only makes braking harder to be consistent it also gives us very nice lower back issues. I found strapping on the seat belts help keep our bodies in the correct (and more importantly the same) place. Give it a go, I hope it helps!

    I've bought tgt2 + tlcm for 780 eur. It's perfect, s strong and fun. Maybe fanatec is better, but i would have to pay 1150 EUR for the same configuration. Is the 370 eur difference worth it? I doubt it.

    Very nice review! If I may ask, what racing cockpit did you use in this video?
