    So I would take away for myself: A TGT is a viable solution for most people so the DD is not the only feature that counts… Perhaps I might consider an upgrade from T300 to used TGT (oh dear). New price purchase is a bit out of reach to play like two days a week. DD Pro is hardly visible on 2nd hand Market as it is still rather new. For the T-GT is easier to find the first one over the T-GT 2.
    That way I could keep the LCM pedals… Perhaps in a couple of months.
    The feeling of the wheel is important when playing longer periods. But if one prefers to wear gloves they might be good with the surface on the GT DD Pro wheel.
    Thanks as always for supplying all this info (from a non-professional view). :)
    One question about the directional sticks on the DD Pro: Do Vertical and Horizontal axis work the same thing?

      @vMaxHeadroom 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think you are right especially those on the Thrustmaster eco system as the wheels, TLCM pedals etc can be reused and you can find a TGT 2 base unit at a better price or second hand as mentioned. Whilst the DD will no doubt be immense, the eco systems can add up very fast and unless you are a hardcore Sim Racer it may not be worth it as even my current T300 with the T-LCM pedals provide enough FFB and the pedals are great. My route will probably be buying the TGT 2 base unit at some point in the future especially if prices drop a bit or second hand or even refurbished as I have seen some refurbished units at a very low price..

      Dear Neosphinx, as a consequence of this I have just bought myself a used T-GT (1) at a price of 350€. I will need to wait until end of day to try it out. Also I need to watch my back for growing additional funding. ;) Can you give me heads up that I have not massively overspent?

      @@SimulatedDrivingResource Thanks for the heads-up. :) The rim really feels nice. That much I can say. The T300 started to give me like blisters on the thumbs.

    In the last year I've gone from a T150 to a T300 to a 8nm DD Pro. I'd say the jump in FFB feel and quality between each has been equally exponential. I know I shouldn't be faster with the DD Pro than the T300, but I am. I have no experience with the T-GT, of course, but if there's anyone considering an "upgrade" from a T300, you will definitely enjoy the DD Pro.

    • @SimulatedDrivingResource
      @SimulatedDrivingResource  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you for the feedback. And for the "being faster". I can relate. The DD just feels more crisp, more precise and more easy to control. The stronger FFB makes you much more aware of the behaviour of your car.

    Hi - thanks for the review - being brutally honest about the DD Pro for Gran turismo 7, I personally found it to be shocking - no road feel - no nothing - just no feedback at all even with boost kit - went straight back to my TGT - so much more immersion and feel and much quicker lap times and consistency

      I personally think something is wrong with the ffb in GT7 for the DD Pro. When you use it in other games, it is much more outspoken. I did however feel a noticeable difference between 5 and 8nm. Thanks for the feedback friend!

      Hi! Completely agree with you. Just received my DD Pro, and I feel a bit disappointed. Dont think it is a big jump. It feels more refined and precise, but the T-GT is very close and feels more natural. Also the trancducer makes a big difference. As you said, no road feeling. I probably will return it and keep the T-GT. P.S.: the grip and general quality is just a joke..

For Thrustmaster to be able to remain competitive,it makes total sense to enable transducer effect in pc mode.. or at least make the protocol somehow open source so it can be work with sim hub etc. This is a good selling point with almost no added cost to thrustmaster

    I got my fanatec set up last week. Now I’m coming from a controller so what may seem am exaggeration is truly how I feel. This thing is above and beyond anything I could ever have imagined. I built a trak racer tr80 lite to go with it. I was nervous the whole week before the rig was built that the 5 nm without a load cell was gonna disappoint. I came from using a controller for over 20 years. I can actually stop the car from slipping out now. The first day was kinda rough. I was everywhere but on the road. The next day I took my time and within an hour I was better with the rig than on the controller. I want a handbrake and different wheel so I can race on wrc 10 and dirt 2.0. The wheel is cheap and from what I keep reading is a load cell will actually improve braking. We shall see.

    I needed an upgrade as by G29 was breaking down with louder cogging noises and paddles that sometimes did not respond. I wanted to buy the DD Pro but the cost in Australia is very high, about $1500 and the wait time is in the months for delivery. I found a seller that offered the T-GT II "pack" for $750 delivered, which is a great price over here, so I went with that and then had to buy pedals. I found a seller that has T-LCM pedals for $400 delivered so I bought those too. In conclusion, I paid $1150 AU for my upgrade and had them within 3 days. Enormous upgrade over a G29 but I get sore feet from the pedals as they are much stiffer, especially the killer break pedal. I'm very happy with my purchase and as a casual, mediocre skilled driver. I doubt I would tell the difference between this and the DD Pro except for the lack of feedback the T-GT II provides which is fun and gimmicky. I also like that I can replace the wheel if I choose which is something the G29 did not offer. I miss the gear shifter I got with the G29 and will have to fork out over $300 for the Thrustmaster shifter but that will have to wait while I recover from this spending spree!

    • @SimulatedDrivingResource
      @SimulatedDrivingResource  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You would certainly be able to tell the difference between the two... And indeed, that is certainly a good upgrade. It makes playing the game even more immersive. Dont worry about your feet, they will get used to it... or you could try lowering the angle a bit. The pedals are the best investment I made. You could also check your second hand sites. That would be cheaper?

    • @boxboxbox624

      @@SimulatedDrivingResource I did check the second hand market for the shifter and the cheapest I found was $285. The cheapest new shifter I found was $314 delivered. I went from the g29 to the tg2. I was blown away by how good it is. I was going between the dd pro and tg2, I went as mentioned for the tg2 because of this specific feature for Gt7. This feature will be copied by Fanatec I predict, as the immersion is taken to a level that isn’t matched on Gt7. Guys how much better are these thrustmaster load cell pedals? Your help would be appreciated.

    • @supercededman
      @supercededman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello from Melbourne :-) I, too, had a G29, and had the same issue after a couple of years of the wheel missing shifts when I clicked the paddles. Whatever!
      I bought the DD Pro, but reckon you may have the better buy. I say this because even after the G29 wheel, the buttons, particularly, on the new wheel feel very dodgy. I loved the old G29, buttons, as budget as that may seem to many.
      Also, out of the box, the loadcell, when fitted to the initial two-pedals that came standard, caused a conflict which meant the throttle would not work. After MANY days (weeks?) Fanatec sent me replacements, and now they work fine, but the Hell I went through: they wanted pictures of my cabling setup, even a video. Initially they tried to convince me I had connected it incorrectly. Hopeless ....
      After I had successfully set it up, I went and looked up the Fanatec customer forums. Apparently, the issue with the loadcell kit causing a conflict and rendering the accelerator pedal inoperative is widespread (read the boards), but I have seen no press release from them.
      Upshot is I would warn people away from the DD Pro until Fanatec fix and acknowledge this issue, and provide much better support than is currently the case.

    Well ... in the end, however, it is never clear which of the two according to those who test it is the best, but it seems to me that looking at the lap times of the video the TGT checked the best time, almost a second better than the DD Pro

    • @SimulatedDrivingResource
      @SimulatedDrivingResource  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Correct. Which is best is highly dependable on the person testing it. Most people (I assume) would pick the GT DD Pro as best, just because it drives so very smooth. But to be honest, there is no "best". Both the wheels have their merits and flaws. The laps on the end are examples of the behaviour of the bases, rims and pedals. It can not be counted as a proper "who is fastest" comparison. The material is very different to what I normally use and the result is that those times really are not representant of the technology. I could have gone faster with the DD Pro with a little more exercise but I had set a fixed number of laps. My personal opinion about the bases? I like the TGT better as it makes my feet tingle when I drive... it is more "fun"... but something like that I can't put in a review 😌 thank you for the feedback, friend.

    • @SimulatedDrivingResource
      @SimulatedDrivingResource  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What they need to understand is that it is a completely different technology (assuming they come from belt or gear-driven wheelbases). I personally did not experience it as an issue but I am also not a pro. What also is a possible explanation is that they need to play around with their settings. Some people think that putting everthing on "max" gives the best driving experience, but that is mostly not the case. Either way, it is all very subjective, like I try to point out in my reviews.

    Thanks a lot for this sincere review. It's difficult to find someone without going to extremes and able to explain pros and cons of both wheels. I'm very happy with my DD Pro, coming from a G29. It's really a big improvement! For me the worst of it is the wheel itself. The buttons feel cheap, I specially hate the big D-Pad... What's that experiment?? Is totally unpleasand to move for menus with it... :( I think that in terms of wheel only, the TGT is far superior. I suppose that the base is the most important part (and of course I think it's better than the Thrustmaster), but is a pity that it came with this wheel. • @SimulatedDrivingResource
      @SimulatedDrivingResource  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope because in the end, it boils down to personal preference which one is "better". A wheelbase package being better then another does not simply mean that it has more advanced technology. You think the wheel is OK, I think is a sticky piece of plastic and dislike it in such a way that it overshadows the rest of my experience with it (even though the base is sublime) so, personal preference... no-one wins 😎 And yes, it is something to look forward too, I am already saving up to buy that one to review but something tells me still enough time to save up (seeing I already made 5 videos on that topic). It is a close call but if I was to buy something new, myself, with the knowledge that I have now, I would probably go for the GT DD Pro. With the G29 you have this feeling that there are some dead points where the gears come into eachother. Same with belt-driven, you feel tiny imperfections. I would recommend seeing my video that talks about the difference of gear, belt-driven and direct drive technology as it will better explain what I mean. You will ofcourse still have the force feedback but it will feel more "pure". I can not say if the GT DD Pro is the best option, as that is preference and dependant on, the range of games you play, the amount of time you spend playing, budget, availibility and so on but it is the one with the most advanced technology coming closest to the real thing. Hello, how satisfied are you with the Thrusmaster TG2? I am choosing between the TG2 and the Fanatec dd2 Pro 8nm GranTurismo. Do you happen to have experience with the DD2 as well? • @SimulatedDrivingResource
      @SimulatedDrivingResource  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Daniel. In any other game except gran turismo, the DD Pro 8nm is a better base simply because of the smoothness of the ride and the power. In gt7 i dont think the ffb for DD pro is optimized enough and there the Tgt has the extra feature being the T-DFB which I absolutely adore because it adds immersion. Both bases are good bases. No matter which one you will pick, you will be happy with. Perhaps, future-wise, the DD pro 8Nm will just be a tad better if you decide to play other games. I do want to point out that you talk about dd2, but there is no dd2 of 8nm, only the CSL DD and GT DD Pro. I like the TGT and have been driving more than a year with it and for me personally, it is enough.. in GT AND other games.

    My main wheel is a DD1 podium, my son had a GT DD for 3 months and i have spent alot of time on it to try and get it to "feel" close to what I get on a DD1. I never achieved getting FFB any where close to a DD1.
    The GT DD even with the boost pack is only marginally better than a T300 in terms of FFB, it is very vague in the 1st 20deg off centre there is very little detail in terms of road sensation and feel of grip and weight transfer on corner entry. You can not run it at max FFB as it causes alot of clipping with the boost pack but you have to run it at close to max to get any real detail out of it. The fanatec pedals are miles better than any Thrustmaster pedals.
    My son ended up selling his GT DD and is now saving up the balance for a DD1 podium.

    • @SimulatedDrivingResource
      @SimulatedDrivingResource  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A DD1 base is also twice the price of a DD Pro base. I agree it feels bland in the first 20° but for corners, for me it is fine. That can probably be explained that I have not had a podium as ref of course. What do you mean with marginally better then T300? Max torque? The ffb imo feels very clean, very precise, much more then with a T300. Yeah, pedals are not great of TM although T3PM and TLCM are very pleasant and reasonable precise to use.

    • @hughxthexhand
      @hughxthexhand 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SimulatedDrivingResource marginally better in terms of what you get for your money, the ffb is smoother, the wheel reaction time is better, the build quality is much higher on the fanatec, I can't really say anything negative about the reliability of the DD Pro because it hasn't been out long enough. I believe after using Logitech, Thrustmaster and fanatec wheels over the past 15+ years that the CSL/GT DD is still a very over priced entry level product. Although the T300 suffers from thermal degradation at that price point you get more value for your money and think that anyone looking to upgrade should probably go for a higher end DD like Simcube, fanatec DD1/2 or any other high end DD.
      Imo the value isn't there on the CSL/GT DD unless you are not financially challenged and get one as your 1st wheel or upgrade from Logitech, it's not enough of an upgrade from a belt drive. 8Nm is peek torque and probably has a holding torque of less than 5Nm that would put it on par with the older fanatec CSW and the Thrustmaster products

    • @SimulatedDrivingResource
      @SimulatedDrivingResource  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand what you are saying. For me both T-GT and DD Pro are overpriced in comparison to a T300 however, both wheels give more functions (like T-DFB), more torque and more precission. Disregarding the price, both are an upgrade to a T300. As for DD pro not being worth the upgrade from a belt, Well.... maybe if I was having the conversation with the you of 12 years ago, your answer might have been different (less experienced, less budget). The thing I carry from your comment is: if you really take virtual motorsports seriously, are not hindered by the 1k-monetary-barrier, just skip the middle (for me 500€ to 1k is middle class) and go to advanced directly as then you really will experience how direct drive is supposed to be. Unfortunately, I will never be able to recommend that as I am limited by budget 😎 Thank you for taking the time to explain friend!
