i saw a video where a GMC had fuel literally boiling out of the fill hatch. Scary! I have an early model, and I'm not sure about later years but there was no heat shield on the exhaust - being so close to the fuel tank that's sure to add heat to the fuel system as well.

That is very interesting... those GMC Engineers were ahead of everyone on the GMC BUT apparently they lacked the ability to read the tea leaves of what the government would pass years into the future.
