Greetings Gaming Pastime, Playing Bug Hunt since 2013. Good job for your A:CM base game review but concerning the Bug Hunt experience, if you don't mind, simply correcting two wrong information for your viewers. • 15:01 | Bug Hunt is of course designed for cooperative play but it CAN definitely be enjoyed solo. And, again, content you can't play in the Campaign(s) but in Bug Hunt & Classic Multiplayer only. Then, TemplarGFX is of course really cool for the Campaign(s) but is definitely not recommended for Bug Hunt. Tons of issues, especially in Co-op' conditions: broken animations, invisible doors, invisible W-Y troups, invisible turrets, badass crashes, desynchronizations, delay inputs, insane conflicts with the "E" key on doors due to the damned welder option, which means impossible to open and/or close doors, freeze situations on Marines wake-up (after hard knockdown), and more. Yo dawg, we heard you like shotguns so we made the game so you can put shotguns on your shotguns. That way you can shoot shotguns while you shoot shotguns.
ACM Overhaul v6 is great. My personal favorite settings are spawn smartgun as much as possible, Xenos spawn more often but slightly weaker. No speed adjustment for me. Setting the difficulty low makes your friendly AI fight better, I found balancing that against Xeno strength got the best results. More likely to hide, flank, overwhelm, and most importantly - sneak behind you which in the Mod they are want to do.
My buddy and I used to play the shit out of this game Haha. Be up all night drinking and killing xenos, for as bad as the game is, still had fun playing it

Really enjoy you going into the best mods for all these games and evaluating them! Games I wouldn't otherwise touch are made much more approachable with some of these mods! Thanks!
I got it very cheap, about a year after release with many of the more glaring technical issues patched. And with my expectations being very low, I actually kind of enjoyed it when it exceeded them. Also, no regenerating health is always a plus for me :P
I did enjoy it tbf, the lighting effects were pretty good. It wasn't without it's problems true but it just needed a bit of polishin. Hopefully there'll be a remaster version as it did have a lot of potential
To fix the crashes you need to load the last checkpoint before that crash, go to the options menu and move all graphic sliders to the lowest level. The mod sets the graphics on its own anyway and that will not change the graphics, but it will fix that crash.
There's four typos to correct one is the shader ture to true. All four founded on TemplarGFXs moddb webpage via One Letter Bug article. [DevOptions.Shaders] for bAllowDistributedShaderCompile correct ture to true on PecanEngine.ini.
The general census among the Alien community is that the Crusher is what happens when a runner Alien (a xeno born from a dog, like in Alien 3) evolved into a Praetorian.
I understand everything bad about the game but personally i love the game. I bought 9 friends this game along with dlc's on the 360 before the One came out and we role played the hell out of the campaign and multiplayer. At first they though it was bad but they quickly understood how awesome the game really was through my role plays. We still to this day play the game. never get tired of having fun on it. Especially when there's a new guy, lol, we troll them on raven so hard. Love this game, gonna buy it on steam here soon to continue enjoying it.
When I played this game, to me it felt like that Starship Troopers game from 2005, just with an Aliens skin and a handful of modernized features, but with human enemies added in... imo there were too many xenomorphs and they were far too easy to take down individually, which is the biggest reason I compared the 2 games.
The bull alien was apart of the aliens comic book and toys series that was was released in 1991 or 1992. Thats the significance of the bull alien in relation to the video game. I'm shocked you didn't know about that Mr. Aliens know it all. I had the toys and the comics. They're awesome.
How am I a "know-it-all"? And it appears what you've described is different than the Crusher seen in the game. avp.wikia.com/wiki/Crusher avp.wikia.com/wiki/Bull_Alien
Gaming Pastime Hmmm. Good point. Well it seems that the crusher alien is fashioned after the bull alien toy. Haha I don't mean to be so salty or rude. My bad bro. I appreciate your review. But I really enjoyed this game. The last game I got into before this one was battle front 2 for ps2. I quit playing for lack of interest in a ton of games that were released at the time. I picked this bad boy up in 2016. I seen the commercials for it in 2013 but didn't have a ps3 or 360. My wife has a 360 so I bought it. I played it through at least 20 times and stasis interrupted. I'm a huge alien fan. Picked up alien isolation next and was glued to that one too and finished game leaving me wanting more. Today I own an Xbox one. It was colonial Marines that brought Me back to gaming.
if only they added the bug hunt mechanics/maps to the campaign... like between some missions you should be able to roam around and open new areas for small sidequests or trigger the next mission
Ohh man .... I remember Duke nukem forever and Alien Colonial marines .... those games were so horrible I got ptsd from those abominations .... never again ....
Maybe in an abusive relationship sort of way I kinda liked this game. Got it for cheap after launch on Xbox and played through the campaign twice (once on the hardest difficulty and once to clean up all the achievements) and even gave a good bunch of hours to the multiplayer.
Gaming Pastime's quip at 10:59 is all the evidence you need to know this isn't a real "Aliens" game. A real game about Xenomorphs wouldn't permit you to beat one to death with a buttstock or melee attack -- that's even more unbelievable than female heroes in "Battlefield V". Oh, and if anyone sees parallels between this game and "Project Origin" -- both of which devolved from "beautiful trailer" to "subpar junk"... you're not crazy. The lead designer for both games was John Mulkey, who infamously took the critically acclaimed "F.E.A.R." franchise and transformed its sequel into a generic, consolised shooter with worse graphics and inferior gameplay, despite spending 4 years in development. DXFan619 even made a video demonstrating how "Colonial Marines" recycled the final boss fight from "Project Origin" -- and people thought Infinity Ward was lazy for copying animations from "Modern Warfare 2" into "Ghosts"!
You should review "Cold Winter" game for PS2. Barely anyone talks about it nowadays and I think it was pretty decent "Soldier of Fortune like" fps with some cool mechanics (like crafting) for it's time of release.
Cold Winter is pretty cool. I liked the crafting and being able to drag tables for cover. I would like to see a review on it and Project Snowbind to. I have a bad ps2 controller and haven't got to finish Project Snowbind yet.
I remember the E3 2012 Gameplay trailer looking absolutely incredible then they released this horrible mess. Didn't they even go under investigation for false advertising or something?
I enjoyed the game for what it was on PS3. It was ok. Not spectacular, but ok. Shame GearBox botched it - but they subcontracted a lot of the work out to smaller studios, who had to create a lot of the assets from scratch, as Gearbox hadn't done much on Colonial Marines at all - most of their focus was on Borderlands 2. In fact, Gearboxes mishandling of Colonial Marines was what led to Sega cutting short Rebellion's dev time on Alien vs Predator 2010.
I'm actually surprised you didn't mention the typo in the aliens' AI that completely fucked them up (unless this video was made before that development, whoops). But I really enjoyed the review, I bloody hated every waking moment when I was playing this game. Weirdly enough I could have fun with Duke Nukem Forever.
I didn't realize the typo until I was ready to install the mod. I found it reading through the mod page. The vanilla game was reviewed with no changes. That's also how console players would experience it. I pinned a comment to the page that details the typo which would be a lot easier than explaining it.
Tbh I I enjoy the game just because it has a story line that takes place after Aliens and not in AvP, and it makes me feel more badass than the state-of-the-badass-art movie Marines just cuz you play as someone who has slaughtered waaaaay more Xenos than... Anyone, if you think about it
Apparently the Alien AI was so bad due to a typo in the games code that they never patched even til this day which causes the AI to not understand the map around them so they just rush you instead. It’s worth looking up people who fix the code notice a big improvement for the Alien AI
Am I the only one who enjoys this game(with mods like templar's)? It's not great by any means but can be and is fun. Maybe I'm just a Xenomorph fanboy.
This game isn't over online and co-op experience. You only need to make friends who wants to play it, hosting the group because since 2013, Aliens never had a proper matchmaking on dedicated servers. That's it. The community keeps this alive, thanks also to Fury161 on Steam. Add me (Citizen #839X) if you want to play in co-op campaign (DLC included) or Bug Hunt mode, whatever. Ciao!
There's four typos needs to be corrected on PecanEngine and DefaultEngine. If your friend can't use notepad just copy and paste your two corrected ini flies for him copy over.
Okay so i tested the game with the AI fixed on mine and untouched on my friend's game. His game crashed regardless of who the host was, so we tried with the AI fix and still it was crashing. Turns out it was a driver issue and now we both can play together although his game is now already "fixed".
Isolation will always be the best alien game. Unless a develop sits down and gives the source material some time and respect as it deserves it will not be topped. Creative assembly had some serious respect and admiration for the film Alien and were passionate about making a great game to do it justice. Although an Aliens game with guns that somehow incorporates elements of isolation would possibly top AI.
I cant help it i love this game. I feel like im in the movie when i play. I love upgrading and finding secrets and special weapons and mowing down xenos. I aso love the slower parts to. Forgetting the tech demo that was given I can take the game for what it is and enjoy it. But thats just my opinion of course. I personally dont think this game is as bad as some say. I still play it to this day.
In Aliens Lance Henrikson has a line which goes "In 19 minutes this area will be a cloud of vapour the size of Nebraska" therefore wiping out Harleys hope and everything around it, so the atmosphere processor should be gone, no structures left, no xenos left, nothing and the queen couldn't really lay eggs when she got on the sulaco just based on that I never even bothered to play it, looked like a crap cash in on one of my favourite franchises
In Aliens: CM Technical Manual, Out Of The Shadows, River Of Pain, Fire & Stone, Stasis Interrupted, Colonial Marines, Bug Hunt, Augmented Reality Survival Manual and Sea Of Sorrows completely explained over Bishop line. The explosion went upwards with Weyland-Yutani and USCM after the War covering up to the media and the public that Acheron is "off limits".
CplDwayneHicks11 well that explains that, only ever read one of the dark horse comics, should get into them more, but it still just feels like a cash in that doesn't play well, did they ever update/patch the pulse rifles?
What i like about the overhaul *improves the graphics and AI What i hate: Aliens are now able to instantly kill you with no way to stop it no option to shoot keyes for treason No cheats nor way to activate them
The melee attacks against alien is not good combat strategy, but it is possible to use them in time of need. Knock him down or push him out of the way. Just buy bit more of time. But i agree that idea of killing alien in melee combat is wrong, basically suicide without some exosuit.
downloaded this and played in my VR headset (theatre screen mode)via virtual desktop and, gotta say I’m liking the graphics, the lighting and aesthetics and the gameplay is COD-lite which is fine for me...nostalgic romp
Seriously we need a game in which you move through a given environment Stealth should be recommended much like in Isolation Actually good graphics Recoil should be noticeable Ammo scarce NPC deaths are permanent with maybe one or two essential NPCs for stories Set the right tone with more authentic but loud, punchy and updated sound design Encourage sticking as a team to ensure the survival of you and your team (Kinda like hours of darkness in which your friends can die permanently) Aliens must rarely charge but work stealthily Retreat when faced with lasers or incinerators to regroup and jump the player Aliens should be able to take a beating and resist stray shots however as in the film will be shredded by consistent fire and shotguns Vehicles No suppressors Sentry guns (no stupid fucking loading bar to set it up) Blunt melee limit enemy distance if they jump you from vents or corners No QTEs for Aliens If they grab you or facehuggers jump you, you die instantly like in Alien Isolation. Make the Aliens actually scary not canon fodder One big force of Aliens should be methodical, sneaky and intimidating The motion tracker should be your bread and butter like in Isolation rather than the Aliens rushing and screeching We need a better story than this...not related entirely to Aliens *GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT, THIS IS PERFECT*
Potential that was Aliens: River Of Pain, Fire & Stone, Bug Hunt, Defiance, Life & Death, Out Of The Shadows and Sea Of Sorrows? Did know Hicks founded out about lost Hadley's Hope ship The Onager even during throughout Stasis Interrupted and Colonial Marines? That very important information Hicks was holding back on after his report was slightly cut off?
I really enjoyed the Online, Playing Escape mode with friends was really enjoyable and different, something the other Alien games before it had, sadly it's a dead game tho but yeah, Get it on sale with the Bug Hunt DLC, Probably the best part of the game
They had a contract to do so. Today theres been four discovered typos on PecanEngine.ini and DefaultEngine.ini all can be corrected on notepad easy enough.
0:39. Disagree, tbh. Aliens, while being a good movie, murdered a good chunk of the Xenomorph we knew from Alien, and in a pretty bad way. Xenomorphs turned from mysterious organisms which had no ultimate known motive and had a very confusing and not understood way of reproduction to just space ants who hunt something to expand their hive and population.
I don't get this "it had no known motive" criticism. In the first movie, the intent was always that it needed humans to expand. This can be seen in the "eggmorphing" deleted scene where it turns Brett and Dallas into eggs. The only thing Aliens did was change the species so that instead of needing humans to make eggs they have an actual different type of Xenomorph that lays them. In a way, Aliens made them less dependent on their hunt to survive.
Alien was done quite cleverly. Not that special effects as viewer can see alien only partially and just a quick glimpses of it at times. It relies heavily on viewers imagination and suspense. Though I personally like Aliens more, cause of absolutely perfect cast imo.
I think the game had a lot of potential. But they did kind of waste it. I really loved the burned xenomorphs (the Boilers) idea though. All ashen and stumbling around like that! It gave me an actual fright. This game is essentially just Deadspace with an Aliens make-up though.
Gaming Pastime I could have swore you said "Alien" was your fave... my bad after replaying I hear you say, "Aliens"... this is a lesson to me in listening . thanks and good content.
That death in Statis Interrupted has always only fueled on my nightmares and feelings of existential dread. It's fucking uncomfortable. A billion thoughts in the span of 10 seconds. I completely agree. I played this when it was semi-new and the best I could say about it was that, the game was average at best, but as an Aliens game it was nothing more than insulting. Though my favorite parts of the game, because surprisingly there was some parts I liked, was the Raven, the Boilers, and the final Queen fight.

So I keep hearing. I've been looking for mods but I might just play the console version.
You mean the awful Half life gold source engine game that looks dated comparing to the console versions?
Got this game for like $2.99 over a year ago on a mega sale. The mods really help this game alot!
Congrats on 10k, well earned!
Four player Bug Hunt was awesome back in the day.
There's still a online community for it check up on ACM Steam Community.
its very on and off though
I’m at 3:49 and I think it’s a good review, I just wish you would talk a little slower.
The AVP game made by Sega had errors but it was a really fun game and online was awesome... I wish someone would make an amazing AVP game
Does this mod include in the infamous AI ini fix? Does the mod work well with the fix
Titan Studios AVP is better though
When I played this game, to me it felt like that Starship Troopers game from 2005, just with an Aliens skin and a handful of modernized features, but with human enemies added in... imo there were too many xenomorphs and they were far too easy to take down individually, which is the biggest reason I compared the 2 games.
i actually really enjoyed this game tbh
he didnt mention it too but multiplayer matchmaking is broken
Ever think of reviewing Hidden and Dangerous II on PC? It's an early 2000 tactical shooter which you cover a bit in your channel
We have no limits. We just need to acquire the game.
And it appears what you've described is different than the Crusher seen in the game.
avp.wikia.com/wiki/Crusher
avp.wikia.com/wiki/Bull_Alien
I appreciate your review bro. The game like any other is not perfect .
Well at least you can enjoy it. Even with its flaws, there are worse shooters out there.
Are you competing with Sean Shannon as fastest talker? holy :-) Fantastic info here though, thanks for making this video!
Thank god that at least Isolation is so good
Will you be doing a review of “AVP: Extinction”?
I'll have to acquire a copy. But I'd like to.
if only they added the bug hunt mechanics/maps to the campaign... like between some missions you should be able to roam around and open new areas for small sidequests or trigger the next mission
Ohh man .... I remember Duke nukem forever and Alien Colonial marines .... those games were so horrible I got ptsd from those abominations .... never again ....
unfortunately I'm stuck with duke nukem forever on my 360 gamer card,a blemish on an other pretty good body of work
J Gamer93 I did .... to see the majestic ruins of a game in one and single button press.
I think we have it. I'll have to double check. That game and Project Snowblind have been on our radar.
Gaming Pastime - owned both, definately underrated....Review??
Oh, they'll come. We haven't played them yet, though. All in time.
The only good one for me is Alien vs Predator. Good atmosphere, good Story and good Gameplay. That is how you do it.
You should have played this on ultimate badass. Thats the mode that engages the ai the best after the teather fix.
Thanks for the review. Any idea if the mod can be uploaded to a 360 version of the game? Or is it only for the PC edition?
Aint no mods for consoles sorry this is pc only
@@theabnormalvermin8242 you can mod consoles but this hasnt been moved to consoles no
Tbh I
I enjoy the game just because it has a story line that takes place after Aliens and not in AvP, and it makes me feel more badass than the state-of-the-badass-art movie Marines just cuz you play as someone who has slaughtered waaaaay more Xenos than...
Ciao!
What if i apply the ai fix and my buddy doesn't and we play a coop game?
It crashes, simple as
There's four typos needs to be corrected on PecanEngine and DefaultEngine. If your friend can't use notepad just copy and paste your two corrected ini flies for him copy over.
i think the ai works based on what the host computer tells it to do, so maybe if the host has the mod installed it will work properly for your friend?
Okay so i tested the game with the AI fixed on mine and untouched on my friend's game.
His game crashed regardless of who the host was, so we tried with the AI fix and still it was crashing.
Turns out it was a driver issue and now we both can play together although his game is now already "fixed".
Sung Ten Songs try it withou the fix again for the sake of science & research pls
God dammit, thank you for the spoilers! 2:30
If you are fast enough you can click the cross on the tiny steam window that says that Game X is launching, and ACM will stop booting up!
Indeed. Or Gearbox could fix it. But there's no chance of that happening.
Damn, even in the avp classic your marine companions could die from just the acid blood
I preordered the game, RIP :( Lesson learned, last time ill be doing that.
Not Sold out on pre ordering limited editions off Resident Evil 2, Kingdom Hearts 3, Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, Japan Shenmue 1 + 2 boxsets?
So what was the best Alien game in your opinion?
Isolation
AvP arcade
It's the best game ever made. It has all the good things games have.
Hadleys not Harleys, damn auto correct
Full Spectrum Warrior review ?
Looks interesting. Still have to play it.
Are you also gonna do Alien: Resurrection on the PS1?
What version of this game are you playing cause the a.i wouldn't even try to kill me half the time
What i like about the overhaul
*improves the graphics and AI
What i hate:
Aliens are now able to instantly kill you with no way to stop it
no option to shoot keyes for treason
No cheats nor way to activate them
A colonial marines game with alien isolation alien ai would be god tier
The melee attacks against alien is not good combat strategy, but it is possible to use them in time of need. Knock him down or push him out of the way. Just buy bit more of time. But i agree that idea of killing alien in melee combat is wrong, basically suicide without some exosuit.
downloaded this and played in my VR headset (theatre screen mode)via virtual desktop and, gotta say I’m liking the graphics, the lighting and aesthetics and the gameplay is COD-lite which is fine for me...nostalgic romp
can some tell me or show me his settings?
my game look really shitty
It could be possible that the crushers evolved from lurkers
Seriously we need a game in which you move through a given environment
Stealth should be recommended much like in Isolation
Actually good graphics
Recoil should be noticeable
Ammo scarce
NPC deaths are permanent with maybe one or two essential NPCs for stories
Set the right tone with more authentic but loud, punchy and updated sound design
Encourage sticking as a team to ensure the survival of you and your team
(Kinda like hours of darkness in which your friends can die permanently)
Aliens must rarely charge but work stealthily
Retreat when faced with lasers or incinerators to regroup and jump the player
Aliens should be able to take a beating and resist stray shots however as in the film will be shredded by consistent fire and shotguns
Vehicles
No suppressors
Sentry guns (no stupid fucking loading bar to set it up)
Blunt melee limit enemy distance if they jump you from vents or corners
No QTEs for Aliens
If they grab you or facehuggers jump you, you die instantly like in Alien Isolation.
Make the Aliens actually scary not canon fodder
One big force of Aliens should be methodical, sneaky and intimidating
The motion tracker should be your bread and butter like in Isolation rather than the Aliens rushing and screeching
We need a better story than this...not related entirely to Aliens
*GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT, THIS IS PERFECT*
Sega should work with id Software for a remake. Rememeber Alien Doom?
Did tis guy do a line of coke before filming?
No
do review avp extiction?
After downloading the templar gfx overhaul my game says "Alien colonial marines has stopped working" after the splash shows up, please help.
Hey Gaming Pastime, would it surprise you if I told you this game was canon to the film series?
It would not. Shame it couldn't have a better story, though.
True dat. It had potential.
Thanks for the great review!
This game just doesn't Make You Feel Like Batman.
I really enjoyed the Online, Playing Escape mode with friends was really enjoyable and different, something the other Alien games before it had, sadly it's a dead game tho but yeah, Get it on sale with the Bug Hunt DLC, Probably the best part of the game
There's still people playing across ACM Stream community, PS3 and 360.
CplDwayneHicks11 Pretty much dead on pc, Just gonna havr to stick to AvP online i suppose till maybe one day a new Aliens Game
Not here steamcommunity.com/groups/ACM-BH# You can host games by being on "friends only" on PC. Depending on time off time on consoles.
Dude, did you fix the AI bug in the ini file?
For the mod, yes. I reviewed the vanilla game as is.
I pretty sure bug hunt is just call of duty zombie reskin
Can you play coop with the mod installed?
Yeah but your coop buddies have to have same correct settings off V5 installed. Plus make sure you all correct the four typos needed too.
1:06 MEGA LOL
Good video and informative 🤝
sick video, dude.
10k subs!!!!
so in colonial marines u can put an underslung shotgun on ur shotgun?
Anyone wanna see Aliens Colonial Marine CD PROJEKT RED version?
why would they sell dlc on a game they didn't even bothered attempting to fix?
Agree 100%, the original is easily the best film and representation of the Alien.
Aliens is one of the most overrated films of all time.
This game is essentially just Deadspace with an Aliens make-up though.
sounds like an awesome game
i always wanted to try the multiplayer but i got the game too late
gear box basically can't handle any license game without fucking it up.
Alien is by Ridley Scott, not James Cameron.
Correct. And Aliens was written and directed by James Cameron.
Gaming Pastime I could have swore you said "Alien" was your fave... my bad after replaying I hear you say, "Aliens"... this is a lesson to me in listening . thanks and good content.
No worries.
Replay the game again with all four typos corrected plus Overhaul Mod V5. You will find less insulting seeing the game running at 4k now.
