One of my sewing teachers told me, "It is not a Dresden Plate if it has less than, or more than, twelve (12) blades." So, I did not count an unusual Dresden Plate quilt I had made years ago (when I wrote to you about how many twelve blades Dresden Plate quilts I have made before.) About twelve years ago, I made a full size Dresden Plate quilt (where each plate had only eleven (11) blades). I Stacked-and-Whacked an Elvis Presley photograph print fabric (that I bought at Walmart); and, I made a full sized quilt. Some of those plates looked wild (like the plate with Elvis' eyes repeated eleven (11) times in a circle; and, another plate with Elvis' lips repeated eleven (11) times in a circle). I gave the quilt to one of my co-workers who was going through a lot of depression due to the deaths of her mother, father, and her son in less than a year. When she found the package on her desk (with the card that I had written, "No, Donna. You don't have to get married again to get a quilt.") she cried. I thought I had done the wrong thing. A few days later, Donna walked up to me and whispered, "I know this sounds kind of dirty; but, I slept with Elvis last night." Elvis Presley was always different. That is one of the reasons we still love him.
