- A Dresden Plate quilt is a beautiful quilt and is very easy if all the precutting is done first. This is a great way to try something new.

What a great idea. How did I miss this? I love dresden. I'm making a big plate to be a rug! I didn't have the hand strength to make a jelly roll rug after I had all the supplies, so I made a basket weave rug w my strips.
You know, big quilt blocks would make nice throw rugs. Hmmmm.

If I make one I will probably assemble the pieces using my serger and use my serger to attach the batting, backing and the top panels together before turning. Instead of applique I would use my embroidery machine and put a design in the centre and finish with my regular sewing machine.

I call these Dresden Doilies and I love sewing them! They make great X-mas doilies in different sizes of doilies.

Do you have to quilt the table top when you use the fusible batting? Or can you leave it fused together?
You still need to quilt them as the fusible washes out. It is just temporary
Where did you buy your Quilter’s Select mats? I have one and would like another. I live about an hour and a half from Toronto so did you get them in Ontario? I want a couple more rulers too. The ones I have are so awesome!
Did you quilt this on your Q20? Did you use rulers? The whole project is beautiful!
Cut the blades longer and that would be a cute circle skirt.
Hi Laura! I'm really glad to finally watch a video for a dresden plate this size...most of the videos are for 9 or ten degree rulers to have a final product...(too many wedges). I would like to know if there is a store where to find a template for this and a bigger size dresden template; I have a table that is 45" diameter and I would like to try a dresden plate as a topper. Is it possible for you to teach us how to make a template this size?

Why is this plate called Dresden?
I love this, however I think it would be better to sew from bottom to top so as to not compromise the bias.
