    Love the sceneries, 3 pools and all but after the end of the day, when I step inside the apartment, it is way too small for me. I would spend a few hundred more dollars more to get a private bedroom and a separate living space. Everything else is perfect, just the room is too small. This is where I would spend most of my time and not the pools. Thanks for the video!

      Hi Kate, best google 'renthub Bangkok' site, then search for 'Life Asoke Rama 9'. I see studios on there from 12.500 Baht but mostly 15k. Either way, great value, location, amenities etc. Keep in mind these are likely agents looking for a 1 year contract (as they get 1 month commission from a 12 month rental contract). Other option and recommended is AirBnb to try first. Stay for say a week before committing to see if it suits. You may also find better deals from 'inside'. Good luck! STL

    • @SideTripLife
      @SideTripLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Expat Explorer No worries EE. Unless you're a seasoned investor in the local real estate market already and know the ropes well, perhaps best hold off. But if you typically buy on launch and know the local market well, then up to you as they say. However, if it's a single purchase to live in, best to rent in your desired condo location for at least a few months first, to see if it measures up and suits your lifestyle. Can usually rent month to month on AirBnB etc, at a higher rent but worth it to 'test sleep' a place. Either way, there's a glut of condos for sale on the market thus, no rush. Also I've a feeling Thailand will start to reduce restrictions then open up more and sooner than later so hopefully you can see in person in the not too distant future.

      @@SideTripLife I agree with you 100% and it’s hard to beat renting in Thailand with the prices and when you want to leave you just leave. My brother and Uncle live in Thailand and I’m looking to head there for a long stay ASAP. The only reason I’ve thought about buying is the market/prices and I’m bringing a small dog with me which is harder to find a rental.

    How much would the studio unit you showed cost, if I were to buy one? And how much the condo fee?

    • @SideTripLife
      @SideTripLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Looking at various units online, it appears the smaller studios start from around 2.8 MB /$93k & smaller 1BR's from 3.2 MB/$106k. Floor number & view, blocked vs unblocked factor greatly as well. Also how each is fitted out. Looked at a few cheaper ones and they were fitted out poorly and had poor or blocked views. Condo fee is meaningless in new buildings as it's usually set low to attract buyers. Factor around 50-80 baht/$1.50-$2.50 Sq M per month going fwd. Sinking fund fee is a one-time payment factor 500 Baht Sq m. The fund is to offset any major future reno's/fixes. Last, best to firstly RENT at least a few months in any place before buying to live in, to see if it suits one's lifestyle and to gauge how well it is maintained etc. Hope this info helps.

    Is $500 all inclusive? Or, is there other fee on top of rent for tenant, e.g. condo management fee (or common fee), water, air-condition etc?

      Renter pays electric at normal direct to Govt/EGAT rate (factor around $50 month if running daily a/c) water is peanuts around 100 baht/$3, owner pays common fee.

      @@jonathanharker6940 For sure prices have dropped across the city due to the 'thing'. But I can't seem to find any 1 Br listings for 11,000 baht? The 1 Br sizes starts at 32 sqm, the rest are variations of studios. Could you pls post links to these 1 Br's?

      @@SideTripLife My mistake, studio apartments in this complex start at $345 / 11,000 baht. One bedroom apartments (32 sqm) start at $405 / 13,000 baht. One bedroom plus (35 sqm) go for $565 / 18,000 baht, and two bedroom apartments currently range from $625 / 20,000 baht - $690 / 22,000 baht. $500 for a studio apartment, albeit a nice one, is pretty steep. This is just not Cricket as we say in England, which loosely translated means, somebody is trying to shaft others in order to turn a healthy profit. You'll do well to remember the 11th commandment; thou shalt not be greedy.

      The price stated was the price they were asking at time of filming and in line with others at the time. For prob one of the nicest studios in the bldng, with premium quality furnishings and fittings, plus unblocked, high floor view. Again, prices have dropped at this bldng and across the city due to the ongoing situation (but it appears I should have foreseen and factored this months ago...) Still can't find any lisitings for 11k, a couple for 12.5k but nowhere near as nice. Anyways, will leave it there, thank you for your input.

    Bit overpriced at 500usd. Normally the current rate for a studio at a central location like this would be around 400 usd 12,000 thb. 15,000 thb can get a one bedroom

      Sure but not with top quality interior or 3 rooftop pools or 3 world class rooftop gyms, unblocked high floor view, 5 min walk to MRT or Airport Link, 2 top malls etc, etc ;)

      @SideTripLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Love Hua Hin! Used to live there. Why? Besides living by the ocean, a top reason was the relatively fantastic long-term rental prices. However, living in a top quality condo in centre of Bangkok (btw, avg size of a Bangkok or Hua Hin studio condo) with full kitchen, all appliances incl washing machine, with 3 rooftop pools, 3 rooftop gyms, 5 mins walk to airport link, malls, mrt & all in the city centre, is still a pretty great deal, relatively (Bangkok prices and real estate market completely different to lovely Hua Hin). Anyways, nice you have a great deal there, enjoy:)

      -It won't be for everyone but this is larger than most executive studio hotel rooms and with full kitchen, washing machine, etc etc plus with twice as nice amenities, all for a fraction of the price at $500 month. In my home city a similar building and unit would be $2000 month.

      Actually, standard studio size in Bangkok. Or, imagine a posh hotel room with full kitchen, washer, balcony, nice view, 3 rooftop pools + 3 world class gyms, 5 min walk to MRT, airport rail + shopping malls, all for approx $16.50 per night. Some might say that's not too bad...
