Anyone besides me love coming to youtube to walk down memory lane? The 70's was truly the best time to grow up. So much happened in the 70's, so many of lifes ....firsts LOL?
Spent the weekend with BOA ( jim) when i was only 14, he was a gentleman, said he would give me a shotgun if i ate a corndog for him. Cant buy memories like that. He has an awesome sense of humor.

That's me. Love TH-cam. My first concert was Thanksgiving 1974. Black Oak headlined a great show and Jim Dandy laid it down. There were four of us. One of our buddies was black with big earth, wind and fire fro. We rolled about six joints and stuck them all in his fro. We got inside and sparked up. What a great show. The opener was Montrose with Sammy Hagar. Then Foghat who was awesome. But Jim Dandy was incredible!

David Lee Roth owes Jim Dandy a check for the look and image, and death metal owes him for the Cookie Monster voice.
Love this song. It's like a mash-up of the Hollies' "Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress" with "Fire" by the Crazy World Of Arther Brown.

I was fortunate enough to meet Jim Dandy many years ago in Jonesboro Arkansas. I was working as a teenager as a lifeguard at a waterside when a white limo came in the parking lot. Jim Dandy had brought a small child (I believe it was his daughter) to the waterside for the day. I had a chance to speak with him for a while, and although it was over 20 years ago, I still remember it like it was yesterday. I still remember the gold BOA necklace that he was wearing.

I just discovered this great band! I knew them vaguely when I was maybe 10 years old. Now that rock is in such bad shape, I am raking through the "oldies" from the 70s in search of what I missed. Too bad that so many great musicians make such great music and end up struggling financially. Here there are 47,000 plays of this video alone - probably 10 times as many illegal downloads. For all he gave us, I just hope Jim Dandy has a comfortable home in ARk. !

I got to see them in the late 70's. It was the most bizarre concert i ever saw. Not the bands, the crowd. I forget who opened for them but they were pretty good.
The bizarre activity was everywhere, on our way to the show we ate a couple microdots so they were just kicking in when we got there. I walks in and walked right into a group of hard partiers from my home town. One who had just tapped a fresh batch of moonshine he'd made. They were able to sneak it in because there was 4 or 5 women in the group and they filled pill bottles with it. Since the quantities were limited i just had one and my friend and i went to the balcony.
This was the beginning of the big hair era, my friends were sitting about a couple rows back and 4 or 5 seats away from this girl that had the big poofy sprayed mound of hair and someone in the balcony barfed with the perfect trajectory to split this mound of hair like an axe. Who after she figured out what happened she barfed on a chick in front of her. Gross and hilarious.
Meanwhile my friend and i in the balcony were having a good time, these 4 puplings come and sit in the same row two or three seats down. Of course one of them leans over and makes a deposit of used beer, wine, and anything he could get a drink of.
That part was expected what happened next was not. The kid barfed between bands and of course someone turned them in so the fuzz had to come and remove them. The fuzz was trying to be kool about it so they wouldn't try to grab them if someone was watching. They finally removed the offenders then the fun began.
We had pretty good seats, unfortunately it wasn't a sellout crowd, so 2 or three times people would come up and sit in the seats that the kid barfed in. They'd sit there for a minute and notice their bottoms getting wet. Once they figured out what it was they would get sick.
Normally this wouldn't be funny but after you've eaten 3 or more hits of microdot over a short period of time it's hilarious.

@@markchoma9822 if you eat it like skittles everyday. That wasn't a particularly strong batch, that's why we ate so many. I wouldn't want to drive after 3 or so tabs of blotter or dried liquid off a match head. I've seen it but never had the opportunity.

BOA used to play Little Rock's Barton Coliseum frequently back in the '70's. In 1974 I was 15 y/o and me and my little stoner buddies would get right on the front row. This was back when you could belly up to the stage. Ruby came out for "Jim Dandy" and about half way through the song her halter top came undone and she was essentially topless. Then she put her foot up on the floor monitor and we noticed she wasn't wearing any underwear under her daisy dukes!! It was quite an eye full for me and my teenage stoner buddies! Raunch-n-Roll is a stone classic. I've had it on 8-track, cassette, vinyl and now the deluxe version on CD.

saw these guys at a free concert in LA around 1970... they said they just got in from Arkansas, and i can't dispute it. this was there "cosmic hillbilly" jam tune... hillarious! the "electicity ame to Arkansas" originally had an acoustic lead-in, which seems to have been dropped by the time of the caljam vids.... "Jim Danddy" and the boys always put on a good show and worked it out... Jim Dandy to the rescue, indeed! glad he's still around!
