    Terrific. Hidden in the chaos of the music industry. A talent that should have been as well known as Janis, Grace, or Cass. I knew of her through the Black Oak material, but was never exposed to this. I regret the lost years.

    The ever beautiful Ruby Starr gracing a stunningly beautiful song . Her voice and McCartneys masterpiece were meant for eachother .
    Plus - the ever ass kicking Tommy Aldredge on drums . He kicked way too much ass with Black Oak Arkansas , The Pat Travers Band , Ozzy 's Blizzard Of Ozz , Whitesnake , and Ted Nugent . One of rocks top notch drummers !
    Saw Jim Dandy and BOA back in '94 or '95 . He gave 100 % live and hung out a bit afterwards . Got an autograph & took pictures .Supercool dude

    Thanks for posting this. Tyrant, a band I helped form was blessed to open for Ruby twice in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The power in her voice resonates to this day and beyond, especially when she sang Take Another Piece of My Heart.

    • @jaray7710
      @jaray7710 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Guy were you in the band? I saw Tyrant was back in maybe 81, 82 in the Lobby of a hotel in Hagerstown MD. Not sure why my friend and I were there. We see these bank looking guys and start talking to them and they tell us they are playing at one of our favorite bars. The Mountain View in Smithsburg MD. So we went and hung out with them late into the morning. Few years later I see Chad Smith on TV with the RHCP. I still have a little promo picture with their signatures.
      That was back when I was 19 or 20. I was quite the groupie chick. I’m 60 now and watching yourself getting old is a bitch.

    I met Ruby at a small gig she did in San Bernardino Ca. 1976? She was with Black Foot at the time.. I got up the nerve to knock on the dressing room door and wanted to meet her. She was friendly and open to my visit. I came by the next night to give her one of my paintings, that I only gave when I was infatuated with a girl and ask her to let me do some photos for her. She was such a sweet presence and I was so overwhelmed with her radiant feminine power that I could hardly speak. Just learned of her passing. I'm crying, but also feeling grateful that I got to hang around a little with her three times. There is no way I can explain how it felt to stand 2 feet and be face to face with a person like her! I LOVE RUBY STAR! Peace and Bliss be with her. May we meet again!

    A Wisconsin classic!! I remember her with her own band performing in Northern Wisconsin back in the 70's....she was electrifying!!! Great video, thanks for sharing.

      @@johnsprague7068 I saw her at a place called "The Barn" near Townshend, WI It was literally a big giant old barn that someone turned into a bar with live entertainment. A great Wisconsin Roadhouse. It burnt to the ground either in the 80's or early 90's I believe.

    I was an espiring young bassist in the mid 70's... It was Don Kershner's "Rock Concert" that exposed me to all that was music back then... That's where I saw Ruby Starr for the first time... Caught her live show twice after that. I've recently taken the bass seat in a band in S/W Florida with female front person who is a little reminisent to me of Ruby... I'm come back to Ruby Starr's music for inspiration... RIP Ruby, you were ahead of your time...

    This is awesome! It's always funny how much JD sounds like an old timey TV preacher.

    Saw Black Oak Arkansas at Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham,Al. mid 1970's. Immediately fell in love with music. And Jim Dandy strutting all over the stage with that gravel sounding voice was the best. No band did a live show like them. I bought me a pair of boots that resembled what Jim Dandy. I bought every album they had out at the time. Yep love BOA!!
