I saw Sweet in concert back on June 4, 1978 in Providence, Rhode Island when I was 16 years old! Sweet was one band in a line up of 6 rock bands to perform on that day! Ticket price for the general admision show was $20.00 for a 12 hour show that also included the rock bands Foghat, Foreigner, Nazareth, The Atlanta Rhythm Section, and Rainbow (Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow)! Simply spectacular show, and the 1970s was an simply great time to be a teenaged rock and roll music fan! And as for Sweet, they were totally Sweet!

Yep, this was one of my anthems when I was 14 growing up in Southern California (Orange County). Listened to it first on KKDJ and later KLOS/KMET. The 70's were special in many ways. I have it on my biking playlist to this day.

Underated, I don't think so. Under appreciated maybe. They were a talented band beyond the pop songs but I don't think people including myself were ready for them. I certainly pay more attention to their albums now and Sweet FA is a frequent companion.
Most people only know sweet because of their bubblegum pop songs but the b sides were phenomenal, Brian had one the best rock voices I've ever heard and musically they were at least as good as any rock band that were around in the early 70s. Rip Brian and mick.
This is simply out of this world, the Sweet at their very peak. Everything about this screams pure class. For special mention, I would draw attention to Steve Priest's short but telling vocal contribution and the brilliant, succinct guitar solo from foxy Andy. The drumming, the bass playing, Brian's lead.......wow, let's hope the fox never gets caught! 👌 👏🏿
Well ya, duh! 😁 Heh heh heh all jokes buddeh! I agree with you. All of these people having revolutions when they finally hear the eargasms The Sweet leaves us shaking with. Laying in our own bodily fluids as we gather ourselves mentally and physically 😁
This song burst like a bomb into my soul the first time i heard it in 1975. I carried that little 45 with me for years until it was no more. Imagine my great joy when I was at a music store in the 90s and there was The Greatest Hits of Sweet with Fox on the Run. I was reunited with my musical "friend" and it's been a part of my life ever since. In my ranking, the 4th greatest song of all time!
How do you feel about bohemian rhapsody and fat bottom girls'. Got to see Queen performan at live aid in July of 1985 and I was in the navy at the time and made a port call at Hollilock scotland
@@ansonarnold1584 Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the most significant songs of the rock era. A thing of absolute beauty. Thanks to it being used in Wayne's World it got the exposure it deserved after a so-so reception in 1975 - 76. Lucky you seeing them in concert. In one of the stupider moves in my life, when my brother and father went to see Queen in 1985, I opted to not go. Now Freddy Mercury, my father and brother are gone.
I just came from watching Jeff Lynne of ELO. Another totally underrated sound. This kind of music never ever gets old. I have watched Sweet from the very beginning. I never get tired of listening. Such a unique sound.
@@__Mr.White__ You won't be disappointed. If you have ever seen the film Xanadu with Olivia Newton John then you will know their music. All ELO's music. A mixture of orchestral and rock music. A link to their greatest hits. th-cam.com/video/8ffLpnI-RXY/w-d-xo.html
Another one of my favourite bands….. a completely class act. I play their albums frequently (and usually quite LOUD 😮 to fully appreciate the brilliance of the intertwined orchestral sections….. ) The 70’ definitely had the best selection of genres and artists that have stood the test of time. It will never get old or sound tired.
@@thebull3206 Yes I understand that statement. When I see them now it reminds me how much time has slipped away and the person who is reflected in the mirror is not the person I remember all those years ago.
From the opening synthesizer swirl to the stomping, riff-heavy verse to the insanely catchy chorus - this is Sweet still in their pomp. 'Fox On The Run' is a dynamic, supercharged record that 47 years on, still has plenty of bite.
All early Queen albums proudly stated that no synthesisers were used. they dropped their rule for the Game. Just been reading that the reason they put it on the sleeve was down to a critic who praised their use on Queen 1. Brian apparently was unhappy as he spent hours to produce the sound on his guitar
Simply the best.
I was a teenager when Sweet released this song. Now I´m 61 but when I´m listening to it, I´m still a teenager :-)

I can't get enough of Sweet. I could listen to their music all day.
You have got very good taste, long may you listen
How Sweet.
And the next day you could start over!
(Is there even 24 hours of recorded material from them?)
@@kensingtonliederkrantz1592 Stupid comment. One of the stupidest I've ever read on here. There's about 5 bands in the history of the world that might have 24 hours of recorded material.
@@tryithere Well, I wasn't necessarily excluding live recordings, but I guess if you restrict the artist to studio performances of original material it would indeed trim the list down to just a handful of folks... like, say, Frank Zappa/the Mothers, the Residents, the Ventures, James Brown, Paul McCartney/Wings/the Beatles, Brian Eno/Roxy Music, Acid Mothers Temple, Sun City Girls, the Fall, Alice Cooper/ACG, James Last, Jerry Lee Lewis, John Lee Hooker, Jandek, Robert Pollard/GBV, Nurse With Wound, Hawkwind, Rick Wakeman/Yes, R. Stevie Moore, the Melvins, Eugene Chadbourne/Shockabilly, Neil Young/Crazy Horse/Buffalo Springfield/CSNY, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan/The Band, BB King, Cliff Richard, Thurston Moore/Sonic Youth, Tangerine Dream, Sparks, Buckethead (100+ albums in 3 years!) and those sorts of people...
i'm a 70's child and i'm proud for growing up with this great music
yeah me too
@Ethan James i can imagine. it was fun growing in the 70's.
Miss those days more than ever!

@@petersimson9519 The best
Almost forgot how BRILLIANT SWEET were ( & still is ) mega group bigtime.
🎵 Stephen Norman Priest (23 February 1948 - 4 June 2020) was a British bass player known as the lead and backing vocalist of the glam rock band Sweet. Thanks for the music, Steve! 🎵
I didn't realize he had just died. He had a very unique backing vocal voice. I'm saddened. RIP.
AT AGE 71, STILL TOO YOUNG. THANKYOU FOR ALL YOUR TREASURE CHEST OF GLORIOUS MUSIC., REST IN PEACE.
Vale Stephen, you were part of so much of the soundtrack of my youth. Thank you.
@@tryithere According to his wife, Maureen, "Steve had been admitted to hospital in February with pneumonia and his lengthy illness had made him very weak. He died peacefully and with dignity, his heart just couldn’t keep up with his body anymore."

Heard this in 1975 when I was eight years old. Loved the bad-assed intro and still do because if it was bad-assed then, it will forever be bad-assed!

Who listens to this 2019?
The sweet is one of the greatest classic rock bands from the 1970a
Sweet was a favorite of Tommy Lee of Motley Crue
Agreed
Me!
This was my first grownup album in the 70s! I graduated from Donny Osmond and the Bay City Rollers
People who hate tap for one.......
Born in the 60's when i started getting into music in the early 70's this band really stood out, the strong drum beat, brilliant vocals & world class guitar what magic these guys made 👍🇬🇧❤
I'm 51 and I still remember this song playing in the 70's and 80's lol. Great song. Brings back good times lol. Wish they would bring back real music like this again
I am 61. Still a sweet beat !!!!!!!!!!!
i am 73.this when we still had MUSIC...............
Kids have no idea how lucky they are today to have You Tube. We had to wait a whole week to maybe see our favourite band sing our favourite song, IF Countdown had them on that week :-)
Or Top of the Pops!
Petra that's if they were on the top 40 otherwise you had to wait till they came to see them live.
You mean if Molly felt in the mood to play it !
Only just in the modern days of the Internet and YT....... I've relived my youth...... AND now plaing (trying) Drums in a Sweet Copy Band...
AND playing old Sweet Records like a freakin' maniac ^^
too right an all
can you imagine sweet today with the exposure that groups get now
I just can't describe how wonderful this song is and how it makes me feel ! I simply could listen to it the whole day long ! It brings me such incredible memories of days gone by ... Love 💜 Sweet !
Marco i love your comment i feel the same way as you , all these decadeson i still adore this very talented good looking great singer band lol Jane x🌹🌹🌹🌹
WOW, I feel the same way!! The 1970's were such a special time for me! We will NEVER get that time back!! All we have are the memories of friends, fun times, music, television and cute girls that we loved!! Nothing can ever replace that!! Those times are absolutely priceless!!!
Yep, this was one of my anthems when I was 14 growing up in Southern California (Orange County). Listened to it first on KKDJ and later KLOS/KMET. The 70's were special in many ways. I have it on my biking playlist to this day.
Before studio tricks, before auto tune.. just pure talent. The music gods smiled on them.
as fresh as I've heard it in 1975, give's me the feeling to be young again
My 58 years old dad showed me this band today (i'm 25) i have to admit he has good taste in music 🎸
Your dad is awesome

Rock n Roll Memories! 🍔🌭🍟🍺
Brian had such a distinctive voice ( R.I.P ) one of the most underated bands ever
This music has everything, melody, rythm, the whole nine yards
How many bars in a yard? My music theory is rusty...
Vocals! Not easy, at all.
Sweet really only had 4 notable songs, but man were those 4 songs good!
Harmonies
This is simply out of this world, the Sweet at their very peak. Everything about this screams pure class. For special mention, I would draw attention to Steve Priest's short but telling vocal contribution and the brilliant, succinct guitar solo from foxy Andy. The drumming, the bass playing, Brian's lead.......wow, let's hope the fox never gets caught! 👌 👏🏿
70's were the BEST !!!!
Totally agree
These guys were great live. Saw them in 79. They rocked
one of the greatest underrated band's in the history of rock n roll!!
Well ya, duh! 😁 Heh heh heh all jokes buddeh! I agree with you. All of these people having revolutions when they finally hear the eargasms The Sweet leaves us shaking with. Laying in our own bodily fluids as we gather ourselves mentally and physically 😁
One of the best songs of the 70's!!!!!!!
Yes I agree xxx
Terrific song and the drummer was one of the best!
Have you ever seen the '90s film 'Dazed & Confused?' This song was featured prominently in that movie.
@@nowitsabadtime No, I haven't. Interesting.

Respect the greats
A lot of respect in the industry. Influenced a lot of the NWOBHM bands.
@@herringfly Not just NWOBHM. They are probably entitled to about 90% of Motley Crue's royalties.
I loved this band as a kid.
They had a serious run and their best still holds up! My 16 year old gets it.
absolutely timeless, it would still be a hit if it were released today
For sure!
Did y ounget the album that this was on, it was called De solation Boulaverd( I think!!l😂🎉😮😅
They are so timeless and very talented 😅
Everyone is too busy listening to Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber anymore, the garbage music, not sure on that one.🤔
One of the heaviest bands to hit the UK stage, posing as a pop band. This is the sound of the early and mid 70s.
I just came from watching Jeff Lynne of ELO. Another totally underrated sound. This kind of music never ever gets old. I have watched Sweet from the very beginning. I never get tired of listening. Such a unique sound.
never heared of ELO. let me google that
@@__Mr.White__ You won't be disappointed.
Old rockers should be heard and not seen.
@@thebull3206 Yes I understand that statement. When I see them now it reminds me how much time has slipped away and the person who is reflected in the mirror is not the person I remember all those years ago.
The 60's, 70's and 80's were the best !
I agree!
Dont forget the 50s
The 80's for me was the best decade for music..
.....NOTHING will EVER top 1966-76 - NOTHING.
@@ogam5 According to you! LOL
I HAD TO HEAR THIS TO RECOGNIZE IT. HEARD IT A MILLION YEARS AGO!
From the opening synthesizer swirl to the stomping, riff-heavy verse to the insanely catchy chorus - this is Sweet still in their pomp.
'Fox On The Run' is a dynamic, supercharged record that 47 years on, still has plenty of bite.

Amen To That!
All early Queen albums proudly stated that no synthesisers were used. they dropped their rule for the Game. Just been reading that the reason they put it on the sleeve was down to a critic who praised their use on Queen 1. Brian apparently was unhappy as he spent hours to produce the sound on his guitar
Takes me back to '75.
When this first came out . All us kids stopped and could not get enough. That was with amazing music that was being pump out at the time.
