      What this generation considers rock we called pussy music. Half of it doesn't even have real instruments and most of the vocalists can't sing. They get autotuned. As long as you're attractive they can make you a star. I went to a concert back when cage the elephant was getting big. I liked one song and when they played it they sounded nothing like the album. They were horrible. Everyone walked away and went and waited on the next band at an empty stage. That was about the time genres started changing.

It sucks that the originals are not there but how would we feel without domeone? I think there hsve been so msny changes thru the years that does it really matter. @@ssabp8313 Actually, Rickey Medlocke is NOT an original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd!
      He founded the band Blackfoot...and then joined Skynyrd later on, after Blackfoot wasn't touring any longer.

    • @ssabp8313
      @ssabp8313 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@dibber43 Chris I know that hes not a founding member of lynrd But he was basically there at the beginning and given that there's nobody else left but Gary rossington could we really afford to be this picky. From what I read he was actually intended on being in the original band so what the reserve founding member a CO founding member does it really matter if hes number one or number 2 obviously hes not does it make a difference of these number 3 number 4 number 5 he was there with the beginning and I play drums briefly I think I played on the 1st album

    • @ssabp8313
      @ssabp8313 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dibber43 And yes I'm very well aware in fact that hes the founding member of Blackfoot as well And many of the guys and Leonard Skinner did not want him to leave but he decided to go out on his own with Blackfoot. My point by saying hes an original member is there's nobody else left he was there from the beginning practically and a lot of people and I've even felt this way in the past that lynrd is nothing more than a cover band like a lot of other bands. And that a concert that I was at Van Sant set is long as rossington is around it's still Leonard Skinner But that doesn't give any credit to Ricky metlocke Regard less of his minor role in the past the fact is the man has been with the band for how many years now since the mid nineties and he was there at the beginning it just so happened to be that he left

      "Blue Collar Bands" is what I read in another comment, it describes Molly Hatchet and the other Southern Rock bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd perfectly. Danny is smiling because he knows that he's got the best job in the world, maybe EVER. Better even than George Carlin's bit about the perfect girl(a nymphomaniac coke dealer who owns a Porsche dealership). Those were the days - a band like this could never happen now, in these degenerate times. Good thing that we have recordings, and great people with video of great memories, and good times - who share them by posting them on TH-cam for us to see. Thanks for posting this.

Its why 40 years later when we hear a classic song it all comes back to us. I cant remember what i did last week but I can remember all these song lyrics when I hear the song.

    Grew up as a kid playing Molly Hatchet songs in Indiana... 4 years ago, my last 2 days in rehab after suffering from a near fatal brain bleed and pulmonary embolism, the tech who drew my blood that am said “the drummer from Molly Hatchet had a stroke and is in a room down the hall.” Much to my surprise, it was none other than Dave Hlubek laying in the bed... there was an unknown band member in his room watching over him as he rested. God healed me so well by then, I was able to walk fairly well, so he may have thought I was a visitor for another patient. I let him know I was in rehab too for a massive stroke. My son brought my acoustic guitar for me to try to play. Dave’s bandmember also had a strat leaning on the chair next to him. I told him I had idolized Molly Hatchet as a youngster and went back to my room. Saw Dave the day I left but he couldn’t talk yet...

      Mark, thanks for sharing that memory, I used to go to the waffle house in Cartersville Georgia if would keep me up, and one night Bob Burns from Skynyrd was waiting on a table,I said that he could come over and eat with me, I asked him if he was in Skynyrd and one of the drummers besides Artimus Pyle and he said he was, he told me that he just lived a couple of miles from there and he would have jam sessions on Friday and Saturday nights and I wanted to join in to just come on over, I asked him if he had some drum kits setup for "lefties" and he said he did, man o man did I have some fun, Artimus Pyle lived 20 miles away from Bob and he would come out and jam and that Man was 6'6" and arms that looked like they were as long as I was in height LOL

    I met Danny Jo about a month or so before he passed away. They were playing a small venue outside my town. I was talking to this chick I went to school with and she says, "Hey Danny Jo". I turned around and walking up to us is a sloshed drunk Danny Jo Brown. I said, "Hey Danny Jo, good to see you" and offered a handshake, but he says "Naw, come mere", and pulls me into a great big bear hug. He seemed like he was 7 foot tall. I asked him if he would be alright to perform because he just seemed wasted, but he laughed it off and said he was ready to roll. He wasn't lying. When he got on that stage, he was just like in this video, solid. The entire band was solid. And even though it was a small show with only about a few thousand people, they gave it their all. It really was a great show.
    I also met Riff West in a gift shop 1983 on the No Guts No Glory tour. Just a really sweet guy, honestly. He was thrilled to talk with a 17 year old kid.

    This vid is awesome!!! Always loved this tune. Me and a friend worked it up in '81. Reunion of my old band happened to be around the time Danny Joe Brown passed away. We talked about it and i quietly played the pre chorus descending triads. They went Whats That? Flirtin'! Worked it up and Gigged with it (i went first). Among the happiest times of my life.
    RIP, DJB and Dave Hlubek.

    SOUTHERN ROCK!!! This music had POWER! I had the opportunity to see the Outlaws open for Lynyrd Skynyrd, saw Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet(with Danny Joe Brown), Navasota, Black Oak Arkansas, and Point Blank. These bands represented the Pride of the South! You can tear down ALL THE STATUES YOU CAN BUT YOU CAN'T TEAR DOWN SOUTHERN PRIDE AND SOUTHERN ROCK!🤠🎸🤘
