They were a great band to see live. They were backup along with Brownsville Station at a Johnny Winter concert I attended in Vancouver BC around 1973. BOA stole the show, first time I had ever heard of them. They were so well received in Vancouver, they returned and I seen them again about a year later.
Great cover of a 50's song!! 70's bands were so good at plucking a forgotten gem from the past and making it new again!! Great song by BOA!! They had many more great songs. Hot and Nasty, Lord Have Mercy On My Soul, Happy Hooker. Great southern rock boogie band!!

Joseph Harder I have recently started noticing something quite fascinating in the comments section. Every time I watch a music video, without exception, someone in the comment section will claim that whatever band is being watched or someone within that band is the most underrated ever. Seriously , every music video has the obligatory “most underrated “ comment. I find it fascinating that so many people feel compelled to say so and so is the most underrated ever. I’ve even seen it about comedians, actors , movies, songs and athletes. Check it out and you will what I mean. I just saw someone say that Kiki Dee was the most underrated female rock singer, so go figure.
AJAXKID123 Your comment was well thought out, lucid , insightful and 100% correct . If someone does not hold an artist in the same esteem that you do, then the only logical answer must be they are underrated, what else could it be. Everyone would like to think they hold the golden key to insight on what is good and if society does not reflect that sentiment, the underrated label is tossed out like a penalty flag. Furthermore, if someone dares to voice an opinion that does not correctly mirror ones opinion about a particular person or subject, then that person is a “hater”. A hater is someone that does not agree with you. That’s where we are today as a society. If you don’t think that Joe Blow is the greatest ever like I do, then Joe Blow is underrated and you are a hater for thinking differently, because as you know, the world revolves around me and only my opinion carries weight. The comment section of TH-cam is an interesting spectrum of humanity and how we think.

Saw Black Oak Ark. Play outside of Heidelberg, Germany in 74, what a great concert, they rocked the roof off. The German fans were ecstatic and it was an electrifying show 😊
Back in the late seventies, Ruby Star and the Grey Band would come to a small club in my home town in Wisconsin. We never missed an opportunity to spend an evening with her. Rest In Peace, sweet lady.
Dave Arndt -Thanks Dave. I was watching and thinking, Ruby Starr, Ruby Starr, where do I know that name? Of course, seeing her in Wisconsin with the Grey Band! Met her in the ladies room at a venue in Milwaukee and she was so tiny and approachable. Good memories.
Same here saw her in Wisconsin to times once at Leisure Lanes and once at mr. D's white elephant
Monroe Wisconsin
Anybody remember The Edgewater?
Jim Dandy had the moves. Nobody ever moved quite like him; not even David Lee. Go, Jim Dandy!
I ran the lights for em 1 show Jim did a back flip off a 5 ft speaker stick landed perfect and said let's see David d Roth do that in his 50s"!!!
@@rustybird8803 How did he get so athletic?
He had the moves but was not as athletic or charismatic as David Lee Roth.
@@gerryg2233 LOL. Roth was his student. Also Roth couldn't sing live. Jim Dandy always had more mucicality than Roth. And he still has ALL his hair
@@gerryg2233 where do you think David Lee Roth got all his stage presents from but right down to the close
The young people of the 70's seemed to enjoy the Rock & Roll music.
Looks like a great show! Looks like they truly are having a good time performing. Ruby steals the show! Watch the video with her singing “Maybe I’m Amazed” - great talent!
Gosh what talent..her and Joplin..makes one wonder how the Blues of today would be if they were here to contribute to its style
This band and this song especially just put a huge smile on my face!
Google Black Oak Arkansas. Cool stuff. Visiting is on my bucket list.
@@craigcricket7932 oh yeah man I already have
They were a great band to see live. They were backup along with Brownsville Station at a Johnny Winter concert I attended in Vancouver BC around 1973. BOA stole the show, first time I had ever heard of them. They were so well received in Vancouver, they returned and I seen them again about a year later.
As usual, I heard this, before I saw it. All the best music I have ever heard, was heard! Before it was seen. All the Best Music...is
Amazing band!!! I boogie still when I hear them!!! Its NEVER enough!!!
Tommy always puts in 110%! What a drummer.
Ever see his drumming in the live-on-tv performance with Ozzy on "Mr. Crowley"?
@@dalethelander3781 yes! Truly amazing.
Money name
Mutants of the Monster! Oh yeah!
I saw them in concert more than once back in the good ol' days!! LOVED BOA
Can’t stand to see a little girl cry :)
Constance Henrietta Mierzwiak would have been 75 years old today. But she changed herself into Ruby Starr, led a pretty festive life, and strutted and shrieked her way into mild fame and fortune. RIP, Ruby Starr.
1st concert I ever saw was in Winterland-Malo,Deep Purple,Black Oak Arkansas and Bull Angus! All for $7 back in 1972. Man….those were the days 😎
I saw them in mid 70's at the Rally in the Valley at Lebanon Valley Speedway in upstate NY Also playing was Blue Oyster Cult
Rudy Starr singing backup is killing it. She should have her own band.
She died of cancer. Many years ago
She had a band called, I think, Grey Ghost.
It's Ruby.
Ruby Starr just may have been one of the most under-rated women in the history of Rock and Roll.
agreed. She would've been a superstar these days.
She's not black so she'll never get recognized
AFTERBURNER ... "... and you will what I mean." Got a little ahead of yourself there, eh?
It was a moment. Southern-fried country rock was a moment. It had to pass. But for a glistening second, it was pretty wild.
Caught BOA a number of years ago in a very intimate setting. Man!...It was like a religious experience.
They need to come back!! I know that they still play!!! Love them 💕
Hi Brenda I got a hot rod
Ruby was so great. I love all her performances.
The music just never ended and more music was created in ten years of the music revolution in the 60s and 70s than all the rest put together.
