Congrats on your first spindle Vee, that’s so exciting. I always find getting started to be the hardest part too, but just like anything else a little bit of practice and I’m sure you’ll soon get the hang of it…..good luck, and more importantly, have fun 🤩😃🧡

I would very much love a glass supported spindle. I'm sure the weight would make them a delight to spin with. I have a home made supported spindle that works OK, but it's nowt to write home about in the looks dept lol. I also have a lovely Snyder Turkish spindle that I love, and a floor supported spindle, or navajo spindle made of lovely honey coloured wood, so I'd like my supported hand spindle to not "let the side down" so to speak lol
It sounds like you have a lovely collection of spindles, and I love the idea of a home made one, totally unique and special 🧡

For this type of spindle I’d say keep an eye on that Etsy store they don’t have them all the time but they do list them from time to time.
There are many amazing support spindle makers around. On your side of the pond I can recommend Spanish peacock (though there updates sell out really quickly) but yarnspindles on Etsy usually have beautiful spindles listed as do Mirkwood also on Etsy. To name a couple.
I absolutely love support spindle spinning, it can feel a bit tricky when you first get started but once you get it it’s a real joy to spin this way.
I hope you find a spindle that you like and have lots of fun with it 🧡

thanks for sharing your new spindle fun. Your support spindle spinning style is a bit like my park and draft at the moment - I'd love to be able to just draw out the fibre with the spindle spinning all the time but maybe one day. In the meantime I'll add my NQR spindle spinning to my NQR knitting style - as long as they work and I enjoy it then all's good :-)
Absolutely couldn’t agree more Helen. There are many ways to get to the end result some of them are more efficient or faster but if what you’re doing works for you then it’s perfect 👌🧡😊
Did you post a link to where your purchased this spindle? I have looked online for days and haven’t found one like that.
It was from a shop on Etsy called Alchemist Storage. They dont always have spindles available though unfortunately as they sell all sorts of other items too

How do you get on ordering from abroad now, post brexit? I'm always concerned about extra charges now.
It’s always a bit hit and miss. So far for the spindles I’ve ordered post brexit I haven’t been hit with any charges but I have for other things and there just doesn’t really seem to be much consistency 🤷♀️
