I know you made this video a long time ago, but I only just found it. Such helpful expkanations. I am new to spinning, and have been practicing with my new Turkish spindle for about a week or two. I loved how you explained spinning from the fold and the reason you chose that method for that particular fibre. I hadn't heard anyone explain that so clearly before. Have liked and subscribed. Will check out your other videos!

I really enjoyed this video. I am a spindle spinner. I prefer not to use a wheel. I really appreciate you reviewing techniques that are specific for spindle spinning. Your presentation was excellent, clear and to the point. I hope you will continue providing techniques on spindle spinning.

Hi Sara, thank you for this video very helpful! The thing I'm struggling with is joining when the spun yarn has broken and there's no (or very little) fluff to join back to fibre supply!

The best way to get things going again is to let about 3 to 4 inches of your single untwist. Really fluff it up and sandwich it back into your fiber supply. By fluffing it up and putting it back you can draft both old and new fibers together, tricking it into thinking it never broke! I'll do a video on this at a later time, but wanted to answer you now, so you can keep spinning 😀

Thank you!! Will give that a go. Not sure if I’m over spinning or not as it ends up naturally quite thin @ quite difficult to re-flood!! Might just need to try to floof more! More experiments required!!! Thank you!

Do you pre draft your fiber? it didn’t look like the milled fiber had been pre drafted.

Debra Johnson as a general rule, I do not predraft my fiber. The only exception to that is when I am spinning from batts. I will generally tear strips off of batts and pull them through a diz to attenuate the fiber a bit and thin it out as most batts are quite dense.
