One tip which is super simple. When you have limited resources you can always hire cheap scout from country that you want to scout in. For example if you will hire guy which has knowledge about Balkan countries then automatically some amount of players will be added to the list of players you can see. You won't get scouting report but the scouting knowledge about certain region will improve.

One thing I do is scan through rosters of U19-23 national teams to see if there are any 16-17 year olds playing there that could have wonderkid potential and then send scouts to the ones that look interesting. I have a long-term PSV save and set aside $3M for scouting so I have the resources, but if you're a smaller club, you could still do the same but look at the dev squads of nearby clubs instead. Cheers!

I think it's important to mention that "stars" level of potential is based on your team. For example Superb 4 stars will be different in man City and Norwich.
Played Club Brugge and it was fun to see one of my top guys with 4 star ability slowly go down the pecking order as the younger players developed.
Sold him at 3 star.
Is it not based on the league as if it was your team you’d have a 5 star player for your best guy but that’s not ever been the case for me.
@@united1990 it's for your team based on average in league.
It is more effective to scout through youth intake in countries you don't have loaded. If you are a bigger club, I would also recommend scouting by league a bit more, because if you scout the whole nation, scouts do some weird things. For example my french scout looking for u19 prospect has scouted PSG 15 times, but PSG U19 only 2 times.
Why is it more effective to scout the countries which are not loaded ? I thought the not loaded countries generate less talents

Think one subject never talked about with scouting is next opponents, for this scout Adaptability is very important as when you get to facing club even in friendly you will get better reports. for me current ability and tactical knowledge is useful for that. I like to try to have a scout that main job is that, the more you know about your opponent the better you can understand the team they have for the next game plus transfers.

Great video only problem is the hours you have to spend setting up and scouting 😭
Start with regions, then when you add more scouts you can go country specific. Everyone on the staff contributes to nations knowledge, including Physios and Analysts.
And if your doing a long term save, even if your starting out small, set up your screen flow for youth competitions, and create a shortlist at the beginning of your save for players under 21 who have international/caps appearances at any level. Then every year create a new international appearance list.
Yes, you will get a lot of reports, but you can remove those players you know arent going to pan out from the shortlist when they come thru.
The other thing I do is change my scouts name, so Franck Minvielle becomes F. Mienville (11PA10PP CAfr), so I know when creating assignments he's my Central African Scout, but with 20 Adapability he's going to learn a lot of the countries. He's been on my team for 6 years, and he's now 17PA/14PP. And for me, if the choice is between a 58 year old scout who is say, 16/16, and a 35 year old scout whos 14/14, sign the 35 year old scout, because chances are his attributes will improve, and you might get him for cheaper.

@@lfcmatt yes, like players they have a range they can be, and I know they younger the scout, the more likely they are to improve. So a 60 year old scout whose 15/15 is probably near the top of his potential, but I haven't done a lot of work into looking at that. I would assume that a scout who is always on assignment is like a player who is always training, therefore his attributes will improve, but that's going to require a test.

Hey Jake, great video…. Let’s say I set up the whole thing in January, then when am I likely to get results?
I think I know the answer because I struggled with this myself. Based on some experiments I've done it seems that the length of time it'll take to see results depends on when you start the assignment and what region the assignment covers. So, let's say, you set up a scouting assignment in North America to start in January. You probably won't see many, if any (depending how narrow your assignment is), results until April. That's because the only active league in the FM region of North America at that time of the year is the Mexican league. MLS only starts in March and the Canadian Premier League doesn't start until April or May depending on the year. Also, it seems that no matter how many or few leagues/countries you have in your save's database, the assignment still plays out based on a country's football calendars. For instance, I never had Central America or Honduras in my database but I had a wonderkid come out of Olimpia in Honduras. So while I didn't have the region or country in my save, IIRC my scout found him because the assignment coincided with the Honduran football calendar which is similar to most of Europe. I hope this helps shed some light on how long it takes to get results. If anyone else knows or thinks what I wrote is not true or has anything to add, please let us know.
my question, should I send some scouts to find first team players also?
Is there a way to increase a scout's ability? For example, on my current save, if I go to FM Genie and sort staff by potential ability, I see Lolo Soler, a 36-year-old free agent Scout who has a CA of 96 and a PA of 186. That is his STAFF ability. His Judging Current Player Ability and Judging Potential Player Ability are both 10. How can you raise a scout's ability (without editing)?
For coaches, sending coaches for licensing certifications increases their abilities - but for scouts, will someone like Soler who has a PA of 186 ever reach his potential? Or will Lolo Soler always be 96/186? FYI - Soler is a real player who recently retired, playing in Spain's 3rd and 2nd tiers from 2003/04 through 2015/16, then played for Lincoln (the Highest rated team in Gibraltar). from 2016/17 through 2021/22.
I've noticed in many play throughs, FM always has these types of scouts available - guys who had long careers in lower leagues who after retiring become free agent scouts. Many have very high PA's (175 and higher) but always very low CA (usually below 70). Soler is intriguing, as with a CA of 96, he's an inexpensive scout to sign - but can/will he ever improve?

Just a question mate, why not use continents instead of regions? makes more sense no? regions there are more and if you only have 8 scouts then it would be much better to do continents no?

I do the same as you with my scouting Jake however on this years game I’m not having much success. My scouts are top rated and familiar with their regions but I’m lucky if they dig out anything more than a C+. Just wondering if you’ve found the same on this years game?

I seemed to have issues when I asked them to scout players that worked in my tactical setup where they'd end up returning absolutely nobody at all. I wasn't sure if it was a bug / if it's been fixed, but I turned that off and just work through the results myself. Does it cost them time, though? Has anyone else encountered this?
Sort out an affiliate club if possible. Ideally, your board lets you handpick so you can get knowledge of that team’s country.
2:52 Another (not-so) hidden attribute: Become a polyglot. The more languages where he is at least "Good" in (6/10), it's even easier to get intel. Likewise for the players, coaches, even yourself if needs must.
It's possible to select all the Albanian players they they are playing in Sweden? And to make list with a specifik nationality that they are U16 or u17?
Does the country knowledge disappear if the scout leaves?

I do the same specifications with scouted star ability and age, my scouts rarely find me anything. Also, keep setting scouts for under 18s and nothing ever comes back
Do you have leagues loaded in for the nations you are scouting?
Fastest way to find the best newgens is to see who are the 15 or 16 years old players selected for the country’s U-21 team.

Something I kind of been wondering, if I tell my scouts to scout players that either come up from the player search section, the social+news section or the one I typed in myself to know their attributes and such, who will scout them? Especially if all the scouts already been given scouting assignments like in this video. Does it mess with their original assignments to find wonderkids?
I believe there is a tab called assignments or something like that where you can view all the players you have assigned to be scouted, who they’re being scouted by, etc. You can set particular scouting assignments to be higher priority by moving them to the top of the list, which I find to be very useful if there’s not a lot of time left in the transfer window and I’ve found a possible signing who isn’t well scouted. Occasionally you’ll have enough scouting assignments running that a few will be put on hold, but at least for me that’s never been a problem, so unless you’re scouting a hundred players at a time you should be okay

It's just I usually have a bit of dilemma going in the first transfer window for a new save. Like, should I just set scouting assignments for the scouts or should I hold off on that and scout the players I'm interested to sign in that window.
@@okzim2676 What I've done is just put scouts on players I'm interested in, and set particulars to the top of the priority queue if I want them to be scouted ASAP. I just use the scouting reports to find interesting targets, or if I really need a wingback or something then I go to "all analyzed" (or something like that) in the scouting tab, sort by position, scroll through, and add scouting assignments to any interesting players. I am a newer player though, so there's almost certainly better ways to go about it, that's just what I do.
