    I’m a single foster mom in Florida and I only take in teenage girls. I commend you for taking little ones and couldn’t imagine the amount of work it takes to care for babies. Teenagers are spunky, but they’re self sufficient. Lol

    I think that’s a great idea about the cup! I finally did teach both mine to drink from a straw with daily trial and error! You just have to keep SHOWING baby how todo it every day and they will def get it sooner than you think if they want the drink! Good luck. Just to put it into perspective: it took both of my kids less than a week at your child’s age to learn!

      My goodness, you’re busy, too! Joining you in the lack of sleep Department, but Dash (10 months) is very close to sleeping through!

    I transistioned both off my boys off of bottles and onto soft top sippy cups at 1 year, it’s an easy transition and helps them adjust the the new shape. At about a year and a half I do a switch to the hard top sippy cups. My boys never could figure out those drinking cups you were talking about. I also touchy my boys to drink three straws at a year and at a year and a half by giving them slushees. My kids would understand the sucking, but would get aggravated because they didn’t have instant gratification, gotta suck longer and harder on a straw. So give them a slushy, take a drink to get it started in the straw, it’ll stay in the straw, so when they suck on it they get the I instant gratification. If he isn’t getting the sucking motion for the straw them put the straw in a normal drink and plug the straw with your finger and then put it in his mouth and release the drink. Once he gets how that works make him suck the bottom of the straw before you remove your finger. Good luck!

    I saw little baby potato boy since I follow you on IG but I was still so hype to get this notification. My wife and I don't personally know anyone else going through this journey so your vlog is like having a friend who understands ❤

    Baby lead weaning is amazing!! Supply cups aren’t bad. But I get where you are coming from with the sippy cups. Our FS was not having anything to do with a 360 or open mouth cup. Just test the waters and see what he prefers.

    • @AngelaDeeVlogs
      @AngelaDeeVlogs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A month and some change later-he’s gotten into the 360 and one other spouted cup. But he dumps that one out 🤦🏽‍♀️ so we’ve mostly been doing 360 :P

      Sippy cups actually are "bad." Not recommended by pediatric dentists, because they cause structural issues in the mouth with the palette and gums.

    He will get the knack of straw cups...try again...model lip pucker movement and sucking in of jaws...see what happens...
    Try giving him something you are drinking through a regular straw...what we are eating and drinking is always more interesting to them...

    What are some things do you buy to prepare for a newborn foster baby?

    There are tiny toddler size cups on amazon

      @@AngelaDeeVlogs hahaha got you. Well you could take some time to teach him how to use a straw. It's not the fastest option but it works. You can start by holding a liquid in the straw by putting your finger over one end of the straw and then dropping it into his mouth. He will begin to learn that he can get drinks out of a straw.

    Hi I am looking into starting the foster process and I wanted to gauge if I have enough room for them. I share a two bedroom apartment with a 6 year old. My plan was to put a bunk bed in her room and she can share that with another girl and then my bedroom is big enough to share with a baby. What age does the baby need to have their own room. I couldn’t size up right now because there are no vacant apts/homes in my area. Thank you

      Hi there! In my county, a toddler needs their own room separate from the foster parents when they turn 2 years old.
      Right now, I have a ton of space in a two bedroom apartment with two toddlers. I could technically be licensed for 6 kids: 4 in the bedroom and 2 under 2 years in my room. But it varies by county.

      @@AngelaDeeVlogs Wow 6. In GA the baby would need to be out of my room at 1 (I hate to disrupt a placement because of this. I’ll see what they say at the info session tomorrow. Thanks

    We did supply cups. Why are you not a fan?

    • @AngelaDeeVlogs
      @AngelaDeeVlogs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sippy cups aren't inherently bad, it just doesn't teach them how real cups work and can sometimes be a crutch later on. They learn to keep sucking like a bottle (regular cups you don't have to suck) and they usually have to tip them up really high over their face in order to get the liquid to come out, unlike a normal cup which will splatter all over your face if you do that :P
      We're currently using the Munchkin 360 which is a hybrid soppy/real cup.

    How many kids are you licensed for? One of the difficult things about my Agency is that they don’t provide any assistance for daycare which is crazy.

    With you being single, who looks after Dash while you work? He's still too young for daycare right?

    • @AngelaDeeVlogs
      @AngelaDeeVlogs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So right now, Dash is a little young for Daycare so he stays with me while I work from home. I could send him now, but he’s easy to co-work with. When he starts tearing up the living room while I’m on calls, he’ll go to daycare :P
