So many layers to foster care. I wanted to add a few things. I work in foster care in LA county. The majority of children on the waiting list/heart galleries have FR or Family Reunification Terminated. Only a few have TPR or Terminated Parental Rights because they don’t want to legally free these kids without a home. Sometimes it happens because they are in an adoptive placement but for whatever reason it falls through and they go back on the list. I feel you about Private Domestic Adoption, I just wanted to give you the terminology. Instead of saying “give their baby up” we say “place their baby for adoption”. This is a really great video, so informative! We could literally talk about foster care for the rest of our lives and not be done talking.

I know this is an older video so my comment might not be seen, but I’m wondering if you can expand on the differences when family reunification right, vs parental right being terminated. Thank you

@@NovasTH-camName typically biological parents get 18 months to 2 years to reunify with their child with a case plan on specific things they have to complete. During that time they have review hearings every 6 months. If they do not complete the case plan ie finish drug treatment program, go to therapy whatever it is, a judge will first terminate reunification services meaning they will not have a case plan essentially or any more help from the department in meeting the case plan because they already gave them the required time. Once family reunification services are terminated they set a hearing 4 months out to terminate parental rights. Hope that helped!

Angela, I love your videos too. Foster with an openness to adopt has been on my heart for a while and finding you has been so helpful. Can you talk about the difference in getting certified through an agency vs. the actual county or if someone on this feed @Mrs.Mrs.Jones could that would be so helpful. I am also in the LA area. Thank you

Thank you so much for the information. I know it varies so much state to state, but thank you for putting information out there!

Great information! Thank you for sharing this knowledge! Is it hard for you to be a single foster parent and work at the same time?

Wow...I'm going to ck to see if it's free or low cost in DC ...what if you can't get the kids on your health insurance outside of open season...does the adoption end the reimbursement subsidy and how long do you have to incorporate the kiddos into your household budgeting...and does WIC cease for infant formula? I'm hoping they grant at least 90 days to get switched over...

My cousin had multiple babies taken. They placed baby with foster home half sibling is in. I did inquire about baby when he was born. Are they more likely to let adoptive family of sibling keep him or let family adopt him. Congratulations on your son

Oh no! So sorry to hear that! It definitely depends on the state-some consider adoptive families of their siblings to be the same as biological family (after the parents). And some states don’t-I would try and keep pushing if a final decision hasn’t been made yet ♥️

Is adoption your end goal? Or do you just want to foster?

Fostering in Ohio & the system is absolutely broken.

I would adopt if reunification wasn’t possible ♥️
