I have had severe IBS for 15 years, no doctor knew what caused it and I did many treatments, medicines and tests with no results. Half a year ago I saw a video by Dr Berg about how bad seed oils and sugar was showing how it affected the body. Then BOOM two days after I stopped seed oils and sugar I haven't had a SINGLE problem with my stomach for half a year now. Thank you Dr Berg!

Thanks for telling what occurred after stopping sugar. Glad you are not suffering anymore. I used to suffer to suffer with it too and it stopped after I went to cooking with raw foods, eating a simple sweetened chocolate with organic cane sugar, onions and garlic every day, very little breads, and no drinks but water once in a while from store shelves.

Interesting. Good for you and thanks to Dr. Berg who comes through as always. I had IBS for 14 yrs and recently healed with 1,800mg B1 in the form of fat-soluble Benfotiamine (Dr. Berg recom. this kind). After 5-6 wks I was healed. Dosing is important. I followed Elliot from EONutrition for B1 info. for any nerve-related problem (VERY brilliant young man). I was shocked to hear that even people with Parkinson's, MS, ALS can mitigate many symptoms with B1.

Me as well. For decades I have had multiple health problems. Ibs colitis, fibromyalgia arthritis. And many others. And for years I was given many things to try and help. But nothing helped as much as getting off grains, sugar and seed oils. Along with all highly processed food, fast foods etc. I was in pain constantly. I do still have pain but it is just a fraction of what I use to have. I am even able to walk more than to the bathroom. I can go out and enjoy walking again. I have currently lost 25 lbs. i still have a way to go but it is so incredible to feel like I am getting my life back.

You are so right about not finding FOOD in the grocery stores. The last time I went to Costco (a month ago) I was struck with the thought, there’s no food here anymore. Just more home goods, packaged foods etc. The meat priced me out. I think both seed oils and sugar are terrible for us - and they’re usually together in packaged foods, but probably the oils are worse.

@@ritalafleur4417 suburban Chicago - the actual food placement was redone last few years so there are rarely enough eggs (have to be there early on the delivery day), fresh fruits & vegetables occupies a space less than half of previously, but the bulk of the store is clothing, furniture, housewares, etc. Personal care items/pharmacy items also reduced to about half of previous space. I was looking for a bottle of wine (not expensive- Apothic) and the cases that were on display were covered in a layer of dusty dirt as if they had been stored in some forgotten basement corner.... Also noticed expiration dates of canned items such as chicken or salmon, is earlier than ones I bought several months ago. In a Gordons Food Service store I found several-months-expired cans of soup (gave it to the cashier).

I can relate to having to make things from scratch + packaged/processed & fast food is no longer an option for me because I'm allergic to Cottonseed Oil (the fluid sister of "Cellulose").
It's in almost everything these days - even mixed with Olive Oil or is usually the main ingredient in "Vegetable Oil" because it's the cheapest.
I'm sure there will be more & more people that develop allergies to these things that shouldn't even be in our food. Hopefully it won't take as long as it took people to "discover the truth" about cigarettes. 🤦‍♀️

Prior to my lifestyle change, I was insulin resistant, had high blood pressure, GERD, sleep apnea, and I was overweight. All of those conditions no longer exist. There were several brands and it was based on 1/2 cup servings. The normal brands had about 35 to 40 carbs per half cup. The very expensive organic, natural brand was close to 80 carbs. I am guessing a lot of added sugar.

Hey Dr. Berg, 4th year medstudent here, going to be a Family Doctor Resident in 2 months. I would love to have you on my podcast sometime! Here is a rough summary of the video!
[00:00] - Differentiating between sugar and omega-6 seed oils
[02:05] - Industrial seed oils and refined sugar have negative effects on the body
[04:23] - Refined sugar is much worse than fruit sugar and can cause gum problems, depletion of vitamins and complications for diabetes.
[06:28] - Seed oils are prevalent in our diet and pose health risks
[08:30] - Avoid consuming foods high in omega-6 fatty acids
[10:30] - Choose pasture-raised organic eggs and grass-fed beef for better omega-6 to omega-3 ratio.
    [12:29] - Reduce Omega-6 and increase Omega-3 intake
[14:20] - Omega-3 fatty acids are important because our body has difficulty converting precursors like Ala into DHA or EPA.
    ---------------------------------
Here is a more detailed summary for the video:
[00:00] Differentiating between sugar and omega-6 seed oils
    - High percentage of sugar in grocery store food
    - Importance of maintaining proper omega-6 to omega-3 ratio
[02:05] Industrial seed oils and refined sugar have negative effects on the body
    - Industrial seed oils accumulate in tissues and deplete fat-soluble nutrients
    - Refined sugar depletes B1 and competes with vitamin C
[04:23] Refined sugar is much worse than fruit sugar and can cause gum problems, depletion of vitamins and complications for diabetes.
    - Consuming refined sugar can cause subclinical scurvy, which is characterized by bleeding gums and fatigue.
    - Fruit sugar, on the other hand, has phytonutrients that protect against the complications of diabetes.
    - Seed oils, which are highly refined and over-processed, lack phytonutrients and can create oxidation, inflammation, and pull things out of the body.
[06:28] Seed oils are prevalent in our diet and pose health risks
    - Seed oils such as soy, canola, safflower, and sunflower oil are used in many condiments and salad dressings
    - Restaurants also heavily use seed oils in frying and cooking, leading to possible health issues
[08:30] Avoid consuming foods high in omega-6 fatty acids
    - Deficiencies in vitamins like B1, C, zinc, and magnesium can result from consuming glucose products while exercising
    - The ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 should be 1:1, but the average person has a ratio of 25:1
    - Grains fed to animals can also contain high levels of omega-6 fatty acids
[10:30] Choose pasture-raised organic eggs and grass-fed beef for better omega-6 to omega-3 ratio.
    - Free-range non-GMO non-soy fed chickens produce eggs with a better ratio (1.3:1) compared to commercial ones (19.9:1).
    - Grass-fed beef has a better ratio (2:1) of omega-6 to omega-3 compared to grain-fed beef (9:1).
    [12:29] Reduce Omega-6 and increase Omega-3 intake
    - Consuming nuts can balance out complications from Omega-6
    - Refined foods lose protective factors
    - Competitive nature between Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids
    - Cod liver oil is a good source for Omega-3
[14:20] Omega-3 fatty acids are important because our body has difficulty converting precursors like Ala into DHA or EPA.

Very interesting video. I just left er and they couldn't diagnose my abdominal problems, diagnosed acute dyspnea and acute congestive heart failure. I have this symptoms attack me when having cottonseed oil cooked foods. Many are guilty in not telling you what it is cooked in. There needs to be fda warnings in stores or in restaurants need to have allergic in their menus or a sign when this oil is used. Weird thing is five patients came with similar symptoms in ER. They are sending me to a cardiovascular doctor and a gastrointestinal Dr. I honestly believe they to do an allergy test before treating any condition, as I don't have the much problems today, and it's day 6 since I had the last time I had something that cottonseed-oil. Been seeing this effect 4x times all the same symptoms, but no proper diagnosis, and leads me to believe it is allergic reaction which effects me internally.

I can speak from personal experience that eating plenty of fat( including oils)has absolutely no fattening effect if one does not eat sugar and carbohydrates. So fat( and oils) per se do not make fat, but combined with sugar and carbs, they are used by the body to fatten you even more easily. Sugar makes you fatter than fat. Thanks! This is very comprehensive.

    • @KJB0001

Dora, WRONGand "fattening effect" is not the point of Dr Berg's video. Industrial Seed Oils are way worse that table sugar and the American Diet has Omega 3 and Omega 6 ratios backwards. So like Dr Berg says minute 9:40, seed oils (not FRUIT oils like avocado, coconut, olive) are MUCH worse than sugar Wach the entire video and then do your research

It’s NOT even about which one makes you FAT… Over consumption of calories (good or bad foods) is what makes you fat! Seed oils cause inflammation/disease, doesn’t matter if you are fat or skinny, they will wreak havoc on the body. Like he said, the seed oils can remain in your cells for up to 600 days, that’s almost 2 years!

Just find a way to eliminate them all and adopt that as your lifetime mindset and never worry about the subject again. Easier said than done for most people, I realize its a struggle, we all deal with that "sweet tooth" desire/addiction to some degree. My strategy is to realize, we only need to find seven good meals and repeat them forever each week. It's not an insurmountable task and the results are plainly obvious for everyone to see!

I just so happen to be thinking this very topic the other day and I'm even more proud of the fact that I had the same reasoning you shared. For years now, I've been attending the school of Dr Berg Academy via TH-cam! So, am very educated, very informed.
One question though, when you mentioned best cooking oils. You included Olive Oil and I'm still confused on that one cause your last lesson was that it's not good to heat Olive. Also heard from other like minded that that study was repelled, Olive oil can withstand heat, so now am confused and been waiting for an update from you. Please shed some light.

    • @MrFreeGman
      @MrFreeGman ปีที่แล้ว +1

I read a study recently that showed extra virgin olive oil is much more resistant to heat induced oxidization compared to other types of seed/vegetable oils. Also that you need to heat it a lot higher than its smoking point in order to induce it. I think the fears around cooking with EVOO are overstated. Just don't re-use the oil and keep your cooking sessions relatively brief. With that said, personally I still prefer cooking with grass-fed organic tallow and butter. I just think it tastes better with most things and is still probably a bit healthier.

It essentially is excessive energy intake/overeating from refined grain and sugar beverages. There is much more snacking these days on "foods" that are not satiating and drive people into a grazing pattern.

Except for low blood sugar and low insulin, he insists low blood sugar is caused by high insulin. If you can't eat everyday and sugary foods aren't a part of your regular diet, I guarantee your glucose AND insulin levels drop. There's no way insulin is even near normal if you haven't eaten in a day. His fixes do not work for me, I can't cut out the foods he says to cut out because I dont eat them in the first place. I need to increase both glucose & insulin quickly without eating a meal which at times is impossible.

I haven't watch all of it, but my thinking is as long as sugar is actual sugar not corn syrup, then it's the seed oil that's worse. I will change it later after I watch it probably.
Edit: oh, I am not changing my mind after all. Sugar can be taken care of easily even the refined ones. Seed oil on the other hand... well.

It is like asking, which is worse, arsenic or cyanide. My father was a normal size diabetic by age 34. That was in the 60s when the food supply was better.
Sugar was called by its proper name of Sugar Diatetics. However we also know the seed oils cause damage to the pancreas.
I am also gluten intolerant. I hate eating out for a reason. At home I have control.

That's what I thought after being in keto for years while doing a lot of exercise. Adding a little bit of sugar didn't hurt so much. I like to keep my carbs healthy tho, because I rather eat a steamed potato for potassium rather than raw sugar or even white rice.

Sharing Dr Bergs notes on Sugar vs Omega 6
    Common seed oils are:
    • Soy oil
    • Corn oil
    • Canola oil
    • Cottonseed oil
    • Safflower oil
    • Sunflower oil
On average, we’re consuming way too many foods high in omega-6 fats. Ideally, a person should consume a 1:1 ratio of omega-3 fatty acids to omega-6 fatty acids.
However, the average ratio is 15:1. This imbalance can lead to all kinds of health problems, especially in the cell membranes.
Refined sugar also leads to health issues and is converted to fat, but the extra sugar doesn’t accumulate in the body like omega-6 fatty acids do.
Omega-6 fatty acids (seed oils) lodge into your cells and accumulate in your tissues for 600 days. They are not water-soluble like sugar is and can't be burned off like sugar can.
Both refined oils and refined sugar can deplete important nutrients. While certain whole foods, like fruit, have sugar, they also have nutrients and phytonutrients to help replenish what was lost and provide protection. But seed oils are a highly refined, over-processed part of a seed that doesn’t have any protective factors.
To make seed oils they also use a solvent called hexane to extract the oil from the seed-is it possible some of this solvent could end up in the oil?
Overall, while sugar isn't good for you, omega-6 fatty acids are worse for your health than sugar is.
    Thank you Dr Berg!!

    • @Dang_Lin-Wang
      @Dang_Lin-Wang ปีที่แล้ว

Don't forget that evaporating off hexane required high temperatures, depending on the oil, that could render it toxic before you even get it out of its plastic bottle..

I try to put omega-3 rich oils in every meal that has too much omega-6 fatty acids to curb the absorption of omega-6. It isn't always cheap, but is the best way. Thanks, Dr. Berg!

    • @davidgrigsby8963
      @davidgrigsby8963 ปีที่แล้ว

Some studies claim, the mix of omega 6 & 3's only prove to have the body process the 6's vs. 3's--as ea. competes for metabolic resources.

You feel badly because you expect to be able to implicitly trust authority, and when they break that trust, its very sad and depressing to realize the truth... but it is perhaps one of the most valuable life lessons anyone can learn, which is, they really don't deserve our blind trust, they deserve much more scrutiny. Corruption between government regulatory agencies and corporate pharmaceuticals is an everpresent danger we face.

Was wondering if “rapeseed oil” from countries like Denmark is considered bad too.
Also if you are very careful but occasionally have it by mistake as in (corn oil, or canola oil) happened to me today unintentionally 😢. Fried fish at a friends house.. thought it was olive oil initially. This would really take up to two years to be out of my system ?

Erucic acid is a monounsaturated fatty acid found in significant amounts in rapeseed oil, from which canola oil is derived.
