My local Honda Dealer says to NOT do it...The only time it should be done is if the DCT controller is replaced or Clutch plates are replaced...Never do it otherwise . The repair Manual also says the same thing..Doing it can cause serious DCT/Computer issues.

Thank you Mr. Cruiseman, I just bought a 2023 last week, shifting seemed kinda harsh, I've put down 500 miles since last Saturday, came across your video about the clutch initialization, now she shifts so smooth I can't feel it, awesome vid and tutorial 👍

Great info. i have a friend with a 2018 and he has been having some odd shifting issues. i will suggest he do this to his bike!

  • @altonelam112

Awesome! I’ll try that today since we finally has a 50+ day. I’m hoping it will cure some minor irregularities. 👍🤞

I wish I had the money to buy one and a place to put it! Both cost a lot of money! Maybe one day! I hope Honda don't quit making them. You do a wonderful job on all of your videos. You are very thorough, speak very clearly, and have expert knowledge of these bikes. I Love watching your videos. You are truly a Professional!! It sounds like you previously worked for Honda!

I did this procedure as I was told on one of the Gold Wing forums that doing it may get rid of some of the drive line lash. My '18 seemed to have quite a bit of slack in the drive line, to the point where it was starting to become a nuisance. The process seemed to go fine, and I took it out for a short ride afterwards, it shifts fine, but my ride was probably too short to be able to tell if it tightened up the drive line at all. I plan on taking a longer ride this evening after it cools off a bit....BTW, thanks for posting this procedure, made it very easy!

Great clear instructions, I don’t own DCT model wing, it seem to sensitive to me, I’ll stick to pre 2018 models,, 🇬🇧👍

I did this because my new Goldwing was shifting erratically at low speed, becoming jerky, which was a bit disconcerting approaching busy junctions. I’ll let you know if it fixed it in the next day or two. Helpful video as always.

Well done. I have a 2020 and just this morning I noticed that the riding mode indicator was flashing. I'll try this to see if it fixes it. I've also noticed that while slowing down there is a wierd double-clicking sound when the DCT downshifts from 3rd to 2nd.

I am planning on switching to the Honda synthetic blend at my first fluid change on suggestion of my dealer. So I will definitely do this procedure. Thanks for the information !

I never knew this. Every once in a while my transmission hangs on a bit longer before it finally decides to shift. I thought this was because of the training the transmission goes through when learning our driving pattern. But - you're saying that it might need to be "re-initialized"?
