    List of questions with timestamps:
    00:00 - Intro
    00:53 - Is it possible to experience Turiya temporarily?
    11:28 - Why does Drg-Drsya-Viveka indicate that only the avaccheda (limitation) theory explains the appearance of one consciousness as many consciousnesses?
    28:28 - If there is ultimately no free will, how is Karma applicable?
    40:14 - Who created the universe, Iswara or Hiranyagarba? Why is it said that Hiranyagarba has maximum bliss?
    53:05 - How is the witness consciousness really free, if it cannot choose what it wants to witness?
    56:09 - If both bliss and pain are in the mind, why is Atman described as pure bliss, and not also pure pain?

    @Greengate777 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I just started watching this, and immediately in the first question we already hit a paradox. In fact, as a layman's general observation, you seem to hit paradoxes everywhere you turn in Advaita... They appear to be the end point of every thing you explore... perhaps endpoint isn't right... it's more like that gateless gate the Buddhists talk about... something you keep banging your head against until one day you realize it isn't there, and that it was never there. Then, the only thing left to do is to laugh at the silliness of it all. The great BIG obstacle was something your mind made.

      @@Theactualstoic There is an old story that goes something like this: after wondering aimlessly in the desert for as long as he could remember, man found his path. A bit to the side, under the shade of a tree, God turned to the Devil and said "see, he found his way to wisdom and knowledge on his own, it is done. He now knows the truth, so there's nothing you can do about it". To which the Devil smiled, and answered, "on the contrary, I shall help him organize all that knowledge".

      Only in the duality, two possible, Avatar and Bhakta.

    • @rockingrishi1407
      @rockingrishi1407 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sri Ramakrishna in his gospel have hinted towards his avatarhood several times . But to most people he never spoke of him being Avatar sometimes he even rejected that because he wanted to remain immersed in bhakti. However whenever he hinted about his avatarhood to Vivekananda. The latter always took it as a god reflected in man. He was sceptical to believe him as an avatar. However towards the end of SRKs life Vivekananda happened to skeptical even then and at that time SRK said he who was rama he was krishna is now Ramakrishna but not in the vedantic sense. He was saguna bramhan not just a jiva.

    It's really a shame , in India ,the land UPANISAD, this most scientific knowledge is never made a part of regular educational curriculum !
    This is the curse of so called secular education.

    Thanks for a great lecture. I feel lot of this is play of words. Simple question gets complicated answer. If consciousness is like reflection of the Sun in a mirror or water in a clay pot , what happens to it when the pot is destroyed or the frame that the mirror is in is taken out. (The frame is physical body , glass is astral or subtle body and material that makes glass a mirror is the causal body)So what happens to the reflection after death. I understand that consciousness is there everywhere and mind etc cannot function without it , but then is JAVATMA different every time physical body dies ?The answer I am sure the answer will be ambiguous.

    So brahma, the hiranyagarbha can be called the summation of all enlightened minds? Because only enlightened minds are desireless and perfectly happy

    The three different theories........Limitation, Reflection and Appearence, remind me of the seemingly contradictory statements of Lord Krishna in Bhagawad Geeta's Chapter 9. I see some parallel connections here, but I am not able to articulate. Any thoughts on this?

    The problem is that clay is always envisaged in some form, whereas with turiya we are expected to imagine some Platonic property of "clayness" that is (so to speak) without form. This is impossible to achieve except perhaps apperceptively.

    Hello Sir, One question. If every living being is atman and that this atman just takes a form, then, suppose when someone kills someone what has just happened? I mean has nothing happened at all? Is that what the vedanta says? If that is so then on what basis is an atman punished and sent to naraka or swarga?

    Can someone please explain what he meant by 'ultimately no free will'? When that 'final run' comes into this wordly existence?

      ultimately the mind is a byproduct of its material conditions, and every "decision" you make is done so based on a culmination of multiple factors beyond your control.

    Pranam Swamiji... Plz give solution as per advaita vedanta philosophy to a question long having raised inside me. How can truthful & empathetic individuals in a society deal with barbaric, cunning fundamentalists working as a team, who have no respect in anything other than their own beliefs & can go to any means to harm those who don't believe in their ideology ?
