    Simply put: WE ARE ALL OUR OWN GODS.

      But swamiji, what about sub -conscious mind.We do all work by sub-conscious mind or habit like driving a --car.it-- is said that conscious mind is 5% and rest is sub- conscius mind

    • @SleazyRider86
      @SleazyRider86 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vijayagarwal3338 That's just learnt behaviour, just like muscle. You can't be sub conscience driving a car or eventually you would crash or if the unexpected happened then you would react. I find with driving you can be in a meditive state but that's it. All sub conscience is is a brief forgetfulness of a habitual routine of what you usually do, then realise you've done it without having a conscience thougt about it.

    Thank you so much Swami, for the remarkably lucid insights on what is a difficult, abstract subject. I recognized two parallels here. (1) Rene Descartes' "I think therefore I am" (Cogito ergo sum) which I now think, after listening to this lecture, is a point in his life when he arrived at that understanding of his consciousness and (2) in books on Emotional Intelligence where it is suggested that you become "self aware" to the point where you constantly and consciously observe and recognize your own emotions. In this latter case, it can be considered as an activity of the intellect (which isn't your consciousness) but there is still an element of transcending the physical you and merely observing yourself as you go about your business in the physical world.

    I really appreciate your talks Swamiji! Re: Evan Thompson - gives a talk at Google and flatly denies anything at all like Brahman. Has the typical buddhist view of only just 'Process all the way down creating whatever consciousness there is on the way.' I call that the same kind of inference based ontology as western science. Direct experience is not more than electrical brain juices. Glad I did not order the book. @27:38 you say that consciousness does not die. There is no way to understand that Thompson is saying this, regardless of any praise he gives the Upanishads.

    Recently got introduced to Swamiji's discourses..His way of teaching the eternal upanishadic teachings is absolutely divine.
    I had a question for Swamiji, and would be grateful for the answer..If consciousness is all prevading and is the ear of the ear and the eye of the eye, how can we explain what happens to brain dead people..With science taking the strides it is, soon, it would be possible to keep a body alive with artificial support for almost forever (theoretically). What about the consciousness, the atman ? Would it still be within the body ?

    • @prashant-ul2sn
      @prashant-ul2sn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You cannot keep body alive eternally, nothing is alive eternally because they are subject to change. Only unchanging think is pure consciousness.

This idea is great but then why do I feel that I got a secret help from a superpower when I was in a grave danger in my life, a help which was beyond the capacity of anyone or anything. I felt God at that time, and Thakur ramkrishna Paramhansa always was in a dual relationship with Maa Kaali. Did he ever say that I myself am Maa?

  • @lnbartstudio2713
    @lnbartstudio2713 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Swamiji, Wonderful talk and please consider that panpsychism and Chalmers' panprotopsychism require that matter, or materialism, is the foundation of reality. This is true also of Thomas Nagel's and Galen Strawsen's ultimately dualistic but sophisticated theories. Any consciousness present here in this theoretically fundamental matter is always a reductionist property of matter. Max Tegmark is even on the lookout for the material substance "Perceptronium". (Seriously !) > According to Rational_Wiki - " The basic idea of panpsychism is analogous to pantheism, just replace "god" with "consciousness," so all matter, and by extension, the universe, is conscious. There have been variations on this theme stretching back to ancient times - it is similar to ancient religions based on animism." < This is not the way I understand The Upanishads.
    In the Upanishads, I understand that consciousness, or more correctly, Brahman, is the fundamental property of reality, certainly not matter. Matter, as perceptions or of objects of awareness or of Brahman, appear exactly and non-dually in Brahman. Well, anyway that is how I understood what you have been teaching.
    You so beautifully said: " Every conscious experience reminds you of the pure consciousness that you are." So wonderful! To me, this is the imcomparable truth of Advaita Vedanta. And this is not a possibility of panpsychism because every conscious experience would necessary remind you/me of some impermanent matter or organization of properties ( even gluten free :) ) of matter that is required to hold consciousness.
    Thanks.

    If I believe that everything happening is on the screen of consciousness and it is an illusion and I am only that consciousness then how will motivate myself to participate in an illusory drama.
    I feel lack of motivation or lack of urge to do something creative by thinking that I myself am God and I never die and everything is an illusion.

      Lack of motivation is at the level of mind.. which means we are not yet able to separate mind and the consciousness
