Hope the tea was up to snuff? I may have missed a bit round the back so I'll revisit soon to check... Now crack on with Episode 17, we're all waiting!...

For those of you that have been watching this from the start and have waited patiently between episodes, I'm sure you'll be glad to know that I just discovered this and binge watched the whole thing while eating pizza and drinking beer... I just discovered this channel 2 nights ago. So naturally I binge watched the whole build and now I'm realizing that I watched 4 years worth of building in 2 nights and I will probably have to wait another 4 years until its actually finished!
While you might not be the first person to make a HVAC airbox, you're unquestionably the best. Bang-up job on the power steering as well! It's the little things that take time, and 7 3/4 hours on a bracket is nothing compared to the time it takes to EDIT that video. For me, 1 hour of video is 10 in the chair. WOW, great episode! really liked the emphasis on fabrication! Dont worry about the people telling you it takes too long, its not so much the finished product we want to see, but rather the AMAZING process it takes to get to the finished project! :)
So true. There's plenty of videos of completed cars...and of fast motion time-lapse stuff where you can't tell what's going on. But to see the detail - and the thought process behind the fabrication... _that_ is what makes it worth the wait. :-)
The only people who ask the question of "What's taking you so long?" are those who have never fabricated a thing from scratch in their life. Bless the TH-cam armchair specialist fabricators..... If that wasn't complicated enough for their little heads to process; once you customise one component, everything else around it no longer fits. So you have to customise that too. And then the next bit, and the next. You end up with a chain reaction of customisation. Don't you worry Lads. You're doing an incredible job, and that simply takes time. I'm happy to wait, so I can marvel at the fabrication skills you two have! :)
Well... of course things take time and unexpected changes become necessary, but i also feel this could have easily been 2 episodes and would have bridged the gap a lot better, in an alternative universe where things played out with an advantage of hindsight.
It does take a long time. I fabricate stuff too (less crazy than this). I just expected an episode sooner. Make it a tiny bit shorter, add more jokes or something. That entire hood electrical construction could have been two episodes. I know it's a LOT of work to make this, but it's so much fun to watch. It's so much better than those discovery channel build programs, where they magically make an entire car from scratch in 20 minutes, including paint.
Very true. I had to dremel / re fabricate a radio faceplate to take it from 173 mm opening to 178mm opening... And it is inset so I couldn't just cut it, I had to rebuild the entire inset. Used ABS plastic blanks and JB weld ABS Plastiweld Putty... lots of filing, shaping, filing, puttying, sanding, painting, sanding, glazing compound, painting, sanding, more compound, sanding, painting... And it still looks like an elementary school project. Fabrication ain't easy.
The craftsmanship in this build is superb! I love seeing the techniques used for the fab work. I am picking up all the tips and tricks i can from each and everyone of your videos.
I honestly think you have enough support from the youtube community to make this into your full time job. I am sure people will donate to make it happen! You are a hidden gem!
Man... Every time I see you finish something, my jaw drops. Your craftsmanship is incredible, and the delivery is pure gold. I appreciate how long quality takes, and my goodness, you're delivering that in spades. Every minute of effort is 100% worth it.
Incredible, again. We didn't make a new flip front, oh wait, yes we did. And it's 10 times as sophisticated as the previous one. Nice job. The TIG really cracked me up.
Sweet Jesus, the amount of work you put in to this project is nothing short of amazing!! Thanks for taking us along for the ride, best series on TH-cam, ever, period!
The Monty Python reference at 4:08 made me really happy. Not to mention: the fabrication is immaculate, the production is clean, and the humor is dry - all great things in a build series.
Huge fans of binky here, we can only aspire to one day have projects as insanely precise, and to drink as much tea as you both! I'd like to thank you guys for the inspiration and the looooong gaps between episodes, we got bad enough withdrawals to make our own channel and document our builds as well.
Yay!!! Brilliant as ever. And my (and other's) guess about the undisclosed cardboard item was indeed correct. The making of the new flipfront mechanism was like seeing Nick's hair grow (grey). Good to show, how long it actually takes to make *one* little (99% hidden) bracket. It took only half a weekend. It's a bit more work than simply throwing money at it and order a bolt-on bracket on line, isn't it? Since it's good to see things are actually getting along, shall we say next episode in a week or two? 😋
Another brilliant episode, content and production absolutely spot on!! TV producers could learn a few things from you boys. After making my own videos for TH-cam, I can totally appreciate the time and effort you put into each episode. As a rule of thumb, I times how long I think it will take to make something by 3 and add a bit.
As always amazing fabrication skills. I spent 7 hours making a bracket for my mini and it came out looking like something off a turn of the century tractor ! Can't wait for the next instalment.
When I saw the work that went into an effing heater box the penny dropped at last - this series is not really about Binky it's about Oscar winning fabrication and you guys win the prize. Bloody brilliant.

This is the most satisfying channel on TH-cam that I see with modifications to car's. And it's a true project that is going to be for history. I'm glad to find something like this channel with the thing's I love to make.
A GT-four powertrain in a mini is quite something, but after having seen the hvac box I can confirm you guys are completely nuts. That was great, keep them coming!
@Bad Obsession Motorsport : I just realized, and I hope you'll do something to remedy it. You've put the front crash crush zone in front of a plastic tank of oil, which is next door neighbours to a very very hot exhaust downpipe. My concern is any shunt on the passenger side will spill flammable oil onto the downpipe. That being said; Thank you so much for the video series! I come here every time I need a but of motivation to get through my own fabrication projects and I'm so happy and grateful to have you here on TH-cam. KEEP IT UP!
All the skin I ripped off my knuckles trying to tighten the exhaust manifold bracket on my Mini 850 when the answer was staring me in the face: cut the car into pieces and then weld it all back together with a few 'minor' mods. You live and learn, ay? Looking forward to episode 17.
Lol ed china sweeping... Did you put him in his place with your amazing fabricating skills??.. Ps....who did thumbs down on the video....shame on you !!
I think that other TV programmes have give folk an inaccurate impression of how long things take. (Yes, you count as TV, I reckon that this could go straight to Dave). Many is the time I have done a mate a favour and been pretty sure that they have no idea it took all weekend. But having a working heater in a Mini is just _wrong_!
Wow, massive props for stuffing hvac in this thing. 99.9% of people wouldn't have bothered but you guys go the extra mile on everything. Awesome work

This is starting to seem like that scene out of Snatch - Turkish:
What's happening with them sausages, Charlie?
Charlie:
Five minutes, Turkish.
Turkish:
It was two minutes five minutes ago.
😂
You guys never need to apologize or prove why it takes so long to do what you do. Your show is a true gem and I enjoy whenever a new episode pops up. Keep making magic!!
The levels of skill and inventiveness on display here is equalled only by the sheer hard work and steely determination in this whole project. I am in awe. 👍👍👍
Yayyy!!! A new episode! I think I've watched the previous ones at least 3 times over. Haha
Sarah -n- Tuned I've probably watched it more, even with this episode I've watched it at least 3 times already, yes I know no life
5 times!
i would watch you over and over again......
well we have to! i have been waiting for months for the turbo install.
bruh shes 28, what u like 13? lmao
I love the new electric linear actuator! Nice redesign guys well worth it :)
I would never consider that add on! Just pull up the front BY HAND.
Bet moog wishes his car will be this good
Janos Molnar yeah forget about dropping a jdm Mini onto a Honda donk... this is next level of Insane Shit to do to a Brick
Ahh, making bricks go fast. This is way better than theirs. I actually like mini's now because of these guys. Just the old ones though.
I really don't know how I haven't been subscribed to this channel. I've been watching for years. I love this car... even if it never gets finished.
ED CHINA?!? What a massive bonus.
This is a mad project, but the ingenuity and skill with a grinder make it essential watching. Great work chaps.
The internet is back!
Absolutely love your episodes! Eagerly waiting for the next one!
Mad as a box of frogs. Amazing guys!
This is the most satisfying channel on TH-cam that I see with modifications to car's. And it's a true project that is going to be for history. I'm glad to find something like this channel with the thing's I love to make.
Been seeing Binky pop up in my feed for years...ignored it...till episode 32 with shiny turbo engine....now binge watching the lot! 🤣🤣🤣
Does Edd make good tea? That's the important question!
he uses cannabis leaves, heavily steeped.
AHH! My very own recipe! A bit lighter on the steep, and perhaps the fab might be a bit quicker!
=D Edd China at the end.
I don't think I could handle it if you crashed Binky the first time you drive it in anger. Treat it like the work of art it is please. ;)
Binky will be the Chuck Norris of Minis, a head-on collision with a brick wall will only need a buff job and bumper due to insane overengineering
KEEP IT UP!
I am searching for the music at 15:45-17:02
Outstanding work as always from you guys.
i realy like that song too
Not even shazam knew. Cmon guys, spill the beans!
I'd also like to know who has made that tune
Me 2 :)
AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!!!!!!
I've been waiting soooo long for this episode!
One can truly appreciate the level of engineering and workmanship you guys have put into this car. You won’t get any hurry ups from me! 👍
What I loved about the 7 hours taken to do that L bracket is that it looks like it belongs there. It doesn't look "last minute". Great job!
All the skin I ripped off my knuckles trying to tighten the exhaust manifold bracket on my Mini 850 when the answer was staring me in the face: cut the car into pieces and then weld it all back together with a few 'minor' mods. You live and learn, ay? Looking forward to episode 17.
It was right in your face yes!just hold the wrench the right way hahahaha
Lol ed china sweeping... Did you put him in his place with your amazing fabricating skills??.. Ps....who did thumbs down on the video....shame on you !!
Haha you can see there hair grow during the episode..... Best thing on the internet
I can grow hair between episodes.I need a shave.
This one episode has blown my mind! Firstly, Edd China! Secondly, that incredible air box, which I personally think is a work of art!!
