I think the main problem here that no one really brings up, is that there is a flaw with the WAY the sport is judged, always has been and has led to many poor decisions. If all we do is really compare 7 poses between the athletes... then you get outcomes like this. Consider the following; FDB Nasser FLS Dorian RDB Dorian RLS Dorian SC Nasser ST Dorian Ab&Thigh Nasser So, here we have an outcome where you could justifiable argue DY won, because he won more mandatory poses. DY can win with a very asymmetrical physique, because its really only a identifiable weakness in ONE pose. That's a problem. Proportions are rarely judged properly as well, these days guys with shitty calves and forearms get away scot-free.. I don't have all the answers... but perhaps a ranking point system that instead of simply placing one ahead of the other in a pose, there is a DEGREE of how much better one is in that pose. For example, if the Front Double Bicep was now judged on a scale of 1/5 (5 being excellent), then placings my look like this; FDB: N 5, DY 1 (on the account it is so awful) FLS: N 3, DY 5 RDB: N 2, DY 4 RLS: N 2, DY 5 SC: N 4, DY 3 ST: N 3, DY 4 Ab&Th: N 5, DY 2 Score: N = 24, DY= 24 (so now we have a point draw, despite DY winning more rounds, but he loses BADLY in one pose and it really hurts his chance of winning, seems fair to me) And then a Relaxed round the same; Front: N 5, DY 2 Side L: N 3, DY 2 Side R: N 3, DY 2 Rear: N 3, DY 4 Score: N = 14, DY = 10 Total Score: N = 38, DY = 34 So now overall we have Nasser winning overall, on the account he wins 3/7 poses and 3/4 of the Relaxed ones. I think the main problem here that no one really brings up, is that there is a flaw with the WAY the sport is judged, always has been and has led to many poor decisions. If all we do is really compare 7 poses between the athletes... then you get outcomes like this.
Consider the following;

FLS Dorian
RDB Dorian
RLS Dorian
SC Nasser
ST Dorian
Ab&Thigh Nasser
So, here we have an outcome where you could justifiable argue DY won, because he won more mandatory poses. Adding in an 8th MM mandatory pose isn't really going to change outcomes, and a 'Relaxed' quarter twist round isn't going to really be a huge factor either.
DY can win with a very asymmetrical physique, because its really only a identifiable weakness in ONE pose. That's a problem.

I don't have all the answers... but perhaps a ranking point system that instead of simply placing one ahead of the other in a pose, there is a DEGREE of how much better one is in that pose. For example, if the Front Double Bicep was now judged on a scale of 1/5 (5 being excellent), then placings my look like this;
FDB: N 5, DY 1 (on the account it is so awful)
FLS: N 3, DY 5
RDB: N 2, DY 4
RLS: N 2, DY 5
SC: N 4, DY 3
ST: N 3, DY 4
Ab&Th: N 5, DY 2
Score: N = 24, DY= 24
(so now we have a point draw, despite DY winning more rounds, but he loses BADLY in one pose and it really hurts his chance of winning, seems fair to me)
And then a Relaxed round the same;
Front: N 5, DY 2
Side L: N 3, DY 2
Side R: N 3, DY 2
Rear: N 3, DY 4
Score: N = 14, DY = 10
Total Score: N = 38, DY = 34
So now overall we have Nasser winning overall, on the account he wins 3/7 poses and 3/4 of the Relaxed ones. Had DY had a proper FDB, less bloated belly, then things would be much closer, which seems about right.

5:52 - wrong picture, IFBB hated Mike, so after learning everything from MIke, DY dumped him cos IFBB told him to do so
Nasser spent years of extreme hard work to look flawless, and made Dorian look like an amateur standing next to him! But the clowns (AKA judges) still gave the crown to Dorian!
He was clearly, unjustly robbed of the title.
Thanks for the video!
🙏🙏
Nasser El Sonbaty & Markus Rühl the uncrowed kings.
Don't forget Schlierkamp.
@@AlmostAeroGaugeyeah..that time he got 5th in 2002. What a joke
The crowd were pissed.
Dorian yates is the 2ed most overrated bodybuilder ever, Number 1 is Arnold Is Schwarzenegger
😂😂😂😂😂😂 sad boy sad
Number 1 is nasser el s…
Look at him there is no Beaty nothing nada..
Just a sterioid freak
I wasn’t a fan of Dorian too but if nasser would won it’s a message that everybody with synthol could win ..
Look at his biceps maybe more did it but he blow up his arms to the fullest ..
Girls like you never understand a certain thing calls proportion..
Look at Shawn ray he was small yes very small but it was a Genetik 🧬 freak .. it’s a huge difference to have a nice physike like Arnold nice poses no bubble gut or just be a huge muscle monster full of sybthol like nasser ..
So, who do you think the best bodybuilder is?
@@riceflatpicking4954 phil heath , jay cutler
There were 20 years between arnold and yates!!!!
As much as I was an Arnold fanboy back in the day, I could never really say that Arnold should have beaten the Myth. Ever.
The real winner 1995 -1996-1997 for sure🙏🏻
„And the judges say, „he wasn’t big. enough““
Markus ruhl was also robbed
Amazing form at 1:00
Like lee priest he basically said what he wants to and the ifbb banned him
Standing here
I realize
Maybe that’s why last 6-7 years since Phil Heath retired the Olympia has been different. We have 6 people winning in the last 7 years. I think this is the correct approach instead of handing the trophy to one guy year after year in spite of the guy’s physique deteriorating over time.
Nasser would always follow a scientific and metabolic approach. His 1999 daily diet plan is below:
Meal 1 - 10 egg whites, 2 whole eggs, whole wheat toast
Meal 2 - (pre-workout) protein shake, fruit
Meal 3 - (post-workout) protein shake
Meal 4 - 12 oz. chicken breast, brown rice or yams
Meal 5 - 12 oz. steak, salad, yams
Meal 6 - 10 oz. steak or cottage cheese
It was politics, but lets not pretend that Ronnie didn't have like 2/3 robberies mixed in his run. If you're profitable for them, then they will do whatever it takes to make sure it remains with you. Don't get me wrong, Ronnie robberies weren't as bad (until later years) but a robbery is a robbery no two ways to look at it. Ronnie wasn't dethroned as long as he was because he was the profitable guy just like Dorian.
He shouldn’t win at least 4 olympia 2001-2005, i think they wanted to have more suspense in the mr olympia and that’s why they didn't let Jay Cutler win until they get the best money possible from this rivalry
@@StrongerThanTheWorld that's why I don't consider Olympia as a true competition and professional bodybuilding as a real sport it's a joke
Nasser got deducted due to synthol use.
Legend, paid the ultimate price for the ultimate physique RIP Nasser, you won 1997 Olympia.
great video man
What I find interesting is how delusional the winners are, in their minds, it's the word of god. Never some humility and saying "Yeah he should have won but I won"
They would never, because that would cause people to start holding their buddies, (the judges) accountable.
legend in the interviews after losing his peak:
do you have to anything to say to the newbies: NO
his mind: (RIGGED AH BS SPORT, I CAN ONLY WARN Y'ALL, JUST DON'T (NO!!!!!!!)
I think we can all agree, Dorian robbed a few of his titles..
I sometimes change the lyrics of Whitney Houston's "Dance with Somebody." To "Nasser El Sonbaty."
🤣🤣
arnold last win was rigged too
Maybe not in the books. But, to us NASSER WON!
Nasser to this day is one of my favorite Olympians.💪🏻🤘🏻
IFBB International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation ❌
IFBB International false leading of Bodybuilding Federation ✅
Well no one could beat a 1998 Ronnie. To this day thats the best ever Olympia body. After that he just started getting way too big
1998 Ronnie was the best bodybuilder ever, But after that no.. i think he shouldn’t win at least 4 olympia 2001-2005
Clearly you didn't watch the 03 Olympia@@StrongerThanTheWorld
ronnie coleman quite contradict himself there with the "he was my best friend"
arnolds "comback" win was just as bad a decision ,the judging has always been questionable . you start to compete you know the history you know what's going to happen.if the important people like you your going to do well ,if they don't ,there aint any point being there.
Besides Dorian's injuries on stage, Nasser had a better looking midsection (abs), right in the middle of the body where your eyes notice. Especially impressive for a real mass monster.
History is always repeating itself.
These bodybuilders were on top of the world you can tell they were proud of being admired with no clothes on. Lots of vanity. Is it really worth it if your life is cut short this way ?? 😳😳
You don't understand, miss. Standing there, in the gym, simply working on yourself.......It's beautiful!
for them yes, it is. they have been immortalized for doing something worthy lf remembering, rather than living forever because they sat around and watched tv paycheck to paycheck.
Bodybuilding doesn't cut lives short,it all depends on how u do it and live it ! Natural is the way to go,it doesn't kill anybody !
RIP Our half Serbian half Egyptian brother!
The Olympia was always about politics. You either participate in it or don’t.
IFBB is a joke, and always was. It's a business, not a true olympic-style, athletic sport league.
Guys there where 7 compulsory poses.Dorian won FLS,ST,BDB and BLS.Thats 4 out of 7 and since 4>3 thats your winner. That is the flaw with BBing judging.Clearly Nasser was better that night and he deserved the win.
I worked as a bouncer with Nasser in 1985. His nickname was "Jimmy". He was 100 kg 220 lbs but already impressive CHARISMA. He threw out 10 guys 2 of them bullies. Alone. I did not help because he played their minds better than any studied psychologist. They left trembling...He also had heavy ko power in his hits if needed. So awful Dorian accepted that con versus Nasser.
In Stuttgart ??
@@holgermuller866 Yep

nassers front double is one of my all time favourite shot!
Intrigue like in politics. Naser was half Serb, half Egyptian, and that wasn't possible at the time. His compatriot Sarcev understood this very quickly
Nasser was soft in the back, Yates was superior. Dont blame IFBB.
Bodybuilding is not only back
Dorian looked like a melted marsh mellow
4:07 markus rühl in background looking good in suit
His face saddened me😢
I think u have to point the finger at the federation. As off as Dorian was with the injuries he had he didn't judge himself as the winner. Politics of course yes and nasser was the better athlete on that day but it's the fault of the guys judging.
💯💯
The IFBB has fixed many of its Olympias. This is well known. 80 and 81 are the most famous. It's not an ethically upright organization; they play favourites. It's all politics.
81, 97, and 07 were the worst
@@ryancalhoun4671 Yes. 07 = Victor Martinez (it is said) should have won. 81 = Tom Platz (it is said) should have won. Or Danny Padilla. 1997 = El Sonbaty (it is said) should have won. The controversies stem from the audience and public preferring a different contestant than the judges, and the contests thought to be rigged by the IFBB -- which is probably the case. Weider wants a Mr Olympia who was marketable and for whatever reason the guys who should have won were not considered as marketable as those who did.
Nessar was the number 1 winner that year. He is an Olympia in my opnion.
What's the background music name?
Lost Whispers
Nasser was syntholled up for that olympia
I don't admire anyone
I don't want to beat anyone
