YES, MGS2 and 3 getting something like the RE4 fan remaster would be perfect and is definitely possible. It would take a lot of effort, but I believe in the modders. Because as it stands, a lot of these mods being used to "remaster" the game currently do not even slightly make the game better. Relying on AI to make upscaled textures is lazy and it makes a lot of the game look way worse even. RE4 had people literally in Spain taking pictures of the original reference pictures to improve it.
I cannot recommend the RPCS3 version anymore because of the amazing work modders have put into this game. As for the missing effects such as Depth of Field, I'm actually glad that it's gone because its implementation was pretty bad IMO, due to the old PS2 days. I can understand why some people want it back in and I'd like to see it back in there for those people. However, running the game in true 4K 60 FPS at all times, and not having to deal with pressure sensitive button shenanigans, brings the modded MC version up as the king.
Agreed 100%. Without mods, though, I was very disappointed. I launched MGS2 and it wasn't even true 16:9 resolution! I had bars on the sides of the screen, albeit small ones. After mods, I must say... as a fan of the series since it's inception, this is the definitive edition for me.

@@blackmetalbreadstick I don't know what to say to that. If you don't think it's worth it, and can't afford it, don't buy it? For some of us, its easily worth $50 to have the MGS trilogy exactly as it used to be but running on modern hardware. For some people, it won't be worth it. I don't like Bethesda games, so Starfield isn't worth $70 to me. But some people have played it for hundreds of hours and love it, and even paid an extra $30 ($100 total) to get the game a week early. And to them its completely worth it. But for me, I wouldn't play a game like that unless they paid me to play it, so it's definitely not worth $70 or $100 or even $1 for me. Just educate yourself on what a product is and isn't before buying it, and judge for yourself whether the price is personally worth it for you. I'll absolutely get $50 worth of entertainment out of replaying MGS1-3. Easily. But you might not. And that's okay.
I'm sure Konami could easily just patch this collection to play at 4k on pc and consoles. But we all know they won't. If modders can do it in next to no time, what excuse does Konami have?
I'm very glad that konami didn't try to alter the games. We didn't want another metal gear survive scenario. I wanted to play the metal gear solid games I grew up with, especially mgs 2 & 3, _NOT_ altered versions of the games. Just the games of my childhood, unaltered. Considering how awful games preservation is, it's baffling that people want the only available versions of the games to be changed, altered, spoiled versions, instead of just the exact originals as they were when they were released. At the very least, if they were gonna do that, they should have it as an optional setting to have changed ruined graphics, instead of the original graphics. Not have it forced upon people. The MGS collection is like an art museum. And so the kind of idiotic things people want this MGS collection to have is like going up to a Van Gogh painting and complaining about how fuzzy and blurry it looks and that it should be painted over with sharper higher definition versions of the paintings. It's idiotic and it ruins the work of art, and it's the same with games.
I just got mgs3 on sale. I've never finished it before but I think I will this time. I just did the resolution, audio, and title card fixes and its awesome.
It's now obvious that the only reason they released the ports at all wasn't to give gamers the games they were asking for, but to generate hype around MGS in preparation for MGTriangle.
Ha didn't expect to see my ocelot face fix in a vid. But honestly once you go up to 1080 and onwards, that pixally mess on Ocelot's ears becomes so noticeable. Fun fact is I just AI upscaled his original PS2 texture then sized it to the HD collections's res and there ya go. Sadly a lot of textures are like thatm as you can see from the various texture fixes mods others have done.
One of the first mods I saw dude, great stuff! When I saw his ears in the vanilla game I was like what the fuck was that? Wanna personally say thank you for this mod because his ears were extremely distracting during cutscenes!
@@withinuk Oh believe me I know how distracting they were. On 720p res you don't fully notice it. But once you go above that. Man does it stare you in the face. Sadly feels like the upgrading of textures they only focused on most of Big Boss and less on the other characters. I think most blaring ones you would notice is The Boss' face, EVA and BB's injured prison and Ending face textures. But hey small improvements will happen and who knows where we'll be next year. I mean already got crouch walking and sneaking now.
@@Solidcal yep modding is going pretty good for these games, lets keep our fingers crossed for more mods and how things progress. Wouldn't be surprised if we got a full upscale like the original RE4
Can the original ps2 post processing effects (high quality background depth of field, the entire foreground depth of field layer, high quality blending) be added via moding? Neither the old HD remaster on ps360 nor the new one has those beautiful effects that looked so mind blowing back on ps2.
I am uncertain as a few modders have noted that changing the resolution messes around with the effects that are in the HD collection as they are originally intended for 720p, albeit the HD collection was also missing the OG PS2 effects. It could be possible in the future as modders have already found a way to add crouch walk to the game which is amazing in itself. It could be possible but its something we have to wait for and see, it has taken 3 weeks to get the game up to looking like with mods. I advise keeping an eye on the nexus mods page as new things are constantly popping up.
I would love it if modders did this. Most of the mods being made are just quick and cheap mods for people to make that don't impove the game at all, and many make worse even
I bet $10000 on that those who made this "port" are the same people who say that emulating the games that are no longer sold, on a platform that is no longer supported in any way = stealing and pirating

Very Grateful to the People that make the Mods for MGS3. By Chance, do you think any of the people who create these Mods can find a way to unlock "Duel Mode"?? I can't believe Konami just left it out.
I own mgs collection on switch and it looks great. What are people complaining about?? These games are 20+ years old. 1080p and 4k didn’t even exist yet. Why would people expect 60fps 4k.
@@Thebabybadass101 I’m playing on switch and it’s amazing. Can’t complain. If you told me in 2001 if I could play mgs2 handheld I would tell you ur crazy.
Amazing how the botched release just killed my enthusiasm to play this. Thankful to the modders once again for saving the day. The fact that they managed to fix this so quickly just shows how little effort the devs put into it.
Ngl I prefer what this game looks like on PS2, the biggest reason is evident when you look at Volgins uniform in this footage. It looks like a jacket with drawn on flaps and cuffs. Like there’s zero depth. Same thing with his face. When the texture is so high res it just looks like he got his face painted at an amusement park. The blur is such a big part of why this game looked great to people back in the day. Your brain fills in the gaps left by a less defined image. Volgin on PS2 has depth in his uniform and in the scarring on his face. When high res it makes the textures look awful on the models

I’ve been a huge fan of mgsv since it came out and thought I’d jump in to mgs3 so I can play as the real big boss but the port is just super hard to enjoy on the series X, I guess my only choices are buy a PC or wait until the remake gets released and I can pay 80-90$ for a game I already bought once
There are key-reseller sites that sell this game for £10 a pop in the UK on PC at least. They actually separated the collection now so you can buy these separately thankfully but this is still £15 for a game this old.
Really wonder what happened to Konami, they used to put huge amounts of effort in to everything and now it's completely the bare minimum on anything it's like they are a totally different company.
I understand the issues but I just wanted to play my metal gear so for me none of these issues bothered me(could be that I'm on PS5 and didn't care about things like resolution and stuff) but anyway great video❤ lmao
i bought mgs3 on my series x 2 weeks ago (my first mg game) and immediately had no clue what the controls were. i googled it and apparently they wanted me to read a whole ass comic book somewhat explaining the controls. i ended up just googling the controls themselves except not a single fucking website actually knew the next gen console binds. i think im alright now but i literally didnt know how to hold enemies up until around 35 hours into my first save.
I do wonder if Konami made these pc ports half assed cause they knew people would mod it. It's a brilliant if lazy and scummy strategy. Making your games deliberately broken so the community mods it and you profit from it by having others buy your games for the mods kinda like Bethesda. I doubt it but I'm glad we still got mgs3 on PC after all these years.
Could you PLEASE PLEASE post a link to the Reshade preset? Nexus "flagged" it has harmful (Assuming it was automatically flagged by a bot). I can not find it.
I partly knew this was gonna happen Konami were gonna be lazy with the porting job BUT because its on PC it will be very easy to mod to fix all the things Konami didn't. So at the very least we can pull a Bethesda and put the game into a much more appealing state...At the cost of treating Konami like Bethesda...Well they asked for it...
Man doing God's work but...imma play ball with Konami cause they don't give us much and when they give us a little imma celebrate it...until we get mgs4 out of ps3
Thanks dude, that's how it is there has to be at least a little bit of interest from the community to show them we want these games on modern platforms. Certain leaks datamined suggest that MGS4 might hit modern platforms but take it with a grain of salt. Fingers crossed though, albeit I wouldn't expect it to be a good port either.
At this point, companies might as well offer out payments (one off or project based) to let fans make/sort out their games. Applies heavily to Metal Gear (post Kojima being booted out) and SEGA (Sonic games - big example Sonic P-06). These companies in general are garbage regardless of their “legacy” brands they have. They run them into the ground. Parasites. Edit: it’s fair to bash companies when you give them criticism or ways to improve and they spit on you. Konami in its current form is a gambling company - nothing more. Complete waste of society to what they bring. Oh and they treat employees like crap.
Sega does that already, (sonic mania and streets of rage 4) Don't think I would put them at the same level as Konami since they actually started listening to their fans.
@@Vicy5Modapk Please don’t support companies that give you crumbs and then expect to be happy. “In an interview with Famitsu, Iizuka explained that Sonic Mania was not intended to have a physical release; Sega staff requested one, but a retail version would have presented a challenge for the production schedule. After the game launched, fans also expressed interest in a physical version. As a retail release would cost more than the downloadable version, the team added value with new content. Mighty and Ray were included because they were rarely featured in games; to accommodate them, level designs had to be altered. Additionally, the multiplayer mode was updated because of the increased number of selectable characters.” Sonic superstars is not even close to Mania. They don’t give a crap about you. Shareholders know best. If you don’t agree with them YOU are the problem.
@@Jonathan-Shadow All major video game companies are like that unfortunately. Pretty much impossible for console players. Also the mania plus physical release wasn't the best example you could've used, origins physical release would've made more sense since it added far less and was download code only. While superstars is far from perfect, it is at least still better than their previous attempts. Finally, there are people working at these companies that actually give a shit about you. If we vote with our wallets that we want good games instead of garbage mobile microtransaction games, we would get more than crumbs.
@@Vicy5Modapk Im on the fence about superstars. The cost in the UK at release was £55. Really? I mean the choice between sonic frontiers and superstars at £55 is a pretty easy choice. Also the fact that SEGA told them to release frontiers and not “finish it”. Update 1, 2 and 3 should have just been in the game. It’s a good step gameplay wise but it’s all this corporate shittery. It’s becoming impossible to avoid. I used to enjoy games (PS2, N64, Dreamcast, etc). Now I barely make a purchase. Last purchase was RE4 remake (which doesn’t really count as I’ve essentially played the story before) and Sonic Frontiers. That’s the last 3 years.
@@Jonathan-Shadow Superstars isn't worth the money honestly, I'd wait for a sale and I'll agree with you on the updates because if it wasn't for the mods, I would've probably just waited until update 3.
I agree with you. I don't want the games altered in any way at all. Just a little bump in the resolution would have been nice as an option.
I just got mgs3 on sale. I've never finished it before but I think I will this time. I just did the resolution, audio, and title card fixes and its awesome.
This is why I knew this wouldn't be a flop of a remaster. I had so many MGSV mods I was confident the modders would save it.
It's now obvious that the only reason they released the ports at all wasn't to give gamers the games they were asking for, but to generate hype around MGS in preparation for MGTriangle.
Excellent Video! You should consider doing the same video for mgs2.
MGS2 video is live now!
great quality video, surprised you only got 15 subs! keep them coming man
Thank you
Ha didn't expect to see my ocelot face fix in a vid.
This looks so good man konami didn't deserve one penny from that master collection.
Who made that BANGER Snake Eater Remix?
this song goes hard no lie they did a good job
crazy work thanks
luv de k7 overpass in the intro
awesome vid
This is a great breakdown
Most of the mods being made are just quick and cheap mods for people to make that don't impove the game at all, and many make worse even
Is that overpass track from killer7 at the start??? Is it OST or just a rip with voices removed by AI? I was searching for this track for eternity
It is the overpass track, unfortunately its just a RIP from the soundtrack
Hey, my childhood in 10x the resolution
With mods it looks how I though it looked when I was younger
Yo whats the version of snake eater used in the video showcase, the sax absolutely rocked
This was to be expected. For which I don't regret playing the ps2 version via emulation on my phone a few months ago.
Did you beat this game using touchscreen controls or did you hook up a controller to your phone? If it’s the former, I’m very impressed 😮
@@jawknee4088 I'll have to disappoint you cause I used a Razer Kishi 😅
same, but i played it on the display of my microwave
thanks garcian great video!!
I bet $10000 on that those who made this "port" are the same people who say that emulating the games that are no longer sold, on a platform that is no longer supported in any way = stealing and pirating
Havel the Researcher once again produces Nobel worthy meta analysis on why Konami is a shit company holding IP's hostage and how to make best of that situation.
Who is Havel the researcher and what analysis are you talking about?
@@spyrochrisgaming Havel is a side-alias I go by that's known to my friends.
Crouch walking mod
I think the reason Konami didn't update the ports is because they are working on MGSΔ which looks great by the trailers
i hope someone adds the 3rd person aiming camera and non pressure based cqc from the 3ds version
they just added crouch walking
5:51 Snake Eater (Abstract Camouflage Version)
God bless you , thank god that the PC controls are good.
This game is very, very special to me. As we approach the 20th anniversary, im just grateful its accessible to a new generation. Especially looking like this. Kinda makes me misty eyed.
Very Grateful to the People that make the Mods for MGS3.
By Chance, do you think any of the people who create these Mods can find a way to unlock "Duel Mode"?? I can't believe Konami just left it out.
Amazing work! Is support for pressure sensitive control enabled yet?
if you you're playing on joystick, at least on Steam, press L3 button. it's a "emulated" pressure sensitive button
I own mgs collection on switch and it looks great. What are people complaining about?? These games are 20+ years old. 1080p and 4k didn’t even exist yet. Why would people expect 60fps 4k.
Game runs at 60fps on a ps3 bruh… it’s just laziness
@@Thebabybadass101 I’m playing on switch and it’s amazing. Can’t complain. If you told me in 2001 if I could play mgs2 handheld I would tell you ur crazy.
There are plenty of PS2 era ports that do have 4k60fps though. Like psychonauts
Okay dude. You got my subscribe.
cant wait for the modders to become the developers of this game themselves
and I cant wait for the modders to make an RTX mod for this game
You're pretty good.
Game was fun back on PS2, tried playing it again lately and holy shit the opening part took over a fucking hour just to even for you to have control of Snake. I don't have the time now vs when I was little.
fans know that metal gear games are 50% movie lmao
4:06 I imported the Japanese version and there was no option to do JP audio w/ ENG subs. MGSV had that. Why didn't this one?
Man i love this game so much
Is there any video about remastering mgs1 integral?
I will be making one soon, currently waiting for the emulator to be decompiled.
@@withinuk I played gog integral...that resolution was fascinating compared to master collection....the only problem was controller...
@@jaya_surya_a5118 was it an issue with the controller not being picked up? I dont know if I will cover 3the GOG version of the game as I am holding out for the decompilation of the MGS1 master collection emulator.
@withinuk mgs 1 gog doesn't detect controller I guess...but mgs2 substance does....try that out.....I used joy 2 key to play that mgs1..it'd working flawless...and graphics is amazing comparing to master collection or emulator
@@jaya_surya_a5118 it could maybe detect controller if you add it as a non-steam game and use steam controller emulation that way
How does it compare to the graphical enhacement from the emulators? Dusckstation and whatever the PS3 emulator is to this mod of the PC? There is reasons to keep the original version to the HD collection and PC version that being the extra content that was removed in the HD and PC version such as the monkey mini game and the dream mini game when Snake is in the cell and probably others I am not remembering.
Great video!!! i was wondering can i run mods if i downloaded the game form places like Fitgirl? Thanks!
Thank you, it shouldnt be an issue because at the end of the day you are modifying the same files as the retail/steam copy. I would backup your game data just in case though.
konami took a page out fo the bethesda book of how things are done....release it on time for your projections and let others will fix your shit for free
The snake eater remix is super dope Where can I find this song
Konami is like Adobe, it's ok to just pirate their trash... i mean software.
Great video, and this introduced me to your channel!
Would you know of a mod that can play the Japanese-language dub with the English subtitles (or vice versa)?
Thank you! I believe there was one for MGS2 www.nexusmods.com/metalgearsolidmastercollection/mods/36 i dont think there is one for MGS3 currently.
11:06 this looks much better with hdfix mod.
absolutely bunker guide™
It's so sad to see Konami being so tonedeaf and clueless. Great effort here =)
Seeing what could have been is honestly heart wrenching lol. Konami is a joke of its former self these days.
A more blatent way to see that they litterally just ported the port to PC is that it litterally have like the HD collection loading bar if you boot up some of the games. I was really happy to play my childhood again on new hardware but they litterally just dropped a piece of garbage on us and I think they litterally were like "Ehh the modders will fix it."
I love the vid , ima get most of these especially the sound one , but I have a quick question , with these mod can I get more than 60 fps ? Probably have 144 hz support?
Thank you and you technically can as there is a framerate unlock mod however its experimental as the game is capped at 60 by default. I am not sure of the effects www.nexusmods.com/metalgearsolidmastercollection/mods/120
Will you bring out a tutorial video on how to install mods etc?
Its live on the channel
why is every nexus link i click on dead? Is it just me or anyone else?
No it's me too. No clue
Really wonder what happened to Konami, they used to put huge amounts of effort in to everything and now it's completely the bare minimum on anything it's like they are a totally different company.
And this is why sometimes pirating isnt a bad thing
What's the song in the showcase segment?
I understand the issues but I just wanted to play my metal gear so for me none of these issues bothered me(could be that I'm on PS5 and didn't care about things like resolution and stuff) but anyway great video❤ lmao
I have an issue with the launcher on a black screen without any sound.
Any hope of modding in normal mapping a la the 3DS release?
i bought mgs3 on my series x 2 weeks ago (my first mg game) and immediately had no clue what the controls were. i googled it and apparently they wanted me to read a whole ass comic book somewhat explaining the controls. i ended up just googling the controls themselves except not a single fucking website actually knew the next gen console binds. i think im alright now but i literally didnt know how to hold enemies up until around 35 hours into my first save.
need help. game crashes shortly after showing a white screen, happens even in a vanilla state
So I'm going to pirate this game and paid the modders for their dedication to make this game better instead
I've never heard that version of Snake Eater before, anybody got a link?
Game crashes when I use MGSFix and Reshade together.
the one real issue is the ontrols i had to remap my key board and use 16.000 dpi on my mouse or my mouse had a dead zone
Additionally, the multiplayer mode was updated because of the increased number of selectable characters.”
Sonic superstars is not even close to Mania.
Also part of the reason why you might not enjoy games as much might be because you are older and don't have as much time to spend on games.
Has no one fixed the blood rain from the intro?

Did you use the Less extreme reshade with or without the Green tint?
I use the less extreme preset with the tint, I also set the MGSHDFIX resolution to 4K. I recommend just downloading all of the presets and putting them in your folder that way you can see which one looks best for you and your monitor.
