Not to mention, if it's an external hammer shotgun, say a side lock system, the hammer may actually impede the motion of the alof system. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it'd take a lot of tinkering and it would really not be worth doing. Like I said, it'd be a bitch to open and close, would probably have unreliable feeding, and it would be really awkward to hold. Not to mention that it looks like the system bolts through the hinge pin on the water table, so considering it was built for a single barrel, you may have to modify that as well because it would need to be wider. I'm not sure if the old hinge pin was drilled through or completely replaced because I haven't seen one of these in person, but my point is that getting it to work well on a double barrel would be tedious and you'd probably have to pay a gunsmith a lot of money (especially considering they'd probably have to build one for the right barrel, as it's likely they only built them to go on the left side of a single barrel)
That would be brilliant, if it weren't for one thing. IRL, double barrel shotguns don't eject. They extract. Or at least side-by-sides don't. For the unfamiliar, the difference is that side-by-side shotguns only pull the shells out far enough for you to easily grab them from the chambers. Over-under shotguns yeet that shit over the shooter's shoulder.
@@mutilator97 That makes it even better. You only need one modified one to slap two shells into that bitch to unleash maximum carnage with your 2 shot shotgun suddenly having 8 shots

@@norrecvizharan1177 Unless you could just replace the tubes entirely on the sides. The real issue would be the arms would slam the rounds inwards as they slam the spent casings outwards. This is the kind of "is it stupid or is it genius" engineering that I live for. I know there were pump/lever action shotguns before this) I absolutely love it and simultaneously would never trust my life with it xD
Manually reloading will always be reliable, this "auto-loader" relies on the shell hitting that trigger mechanism to load the next shell in, if it works 100% of the time though then yeah this would be a good and faster replacement for manually loading, provided it works 100% of the time, otherwise you have to manually hit that trigger yourself to get it load the next shell, I'd argue though that even doing that would be faster than loading it yourself unless you're super quick at manually loading.

Two, on a side by side, I need it.
"Is that a 4 barreled shotgun?" "No, it's a magazine fed double!" KAKA-CHACHACK
Seems like a perfect weapon mod for DOOM Eternal lol
That is a very manly idea. We have a gun, now make it bigger!
Yes!!!
Chiappa should do a 4-barrel shotgun!
That’s got to be the coolest thing I have ever seen. This is truly a work of a genius.
1:30, you hear Crozier barking.
This looks like one of the schematics weapons from Fallout, fit in nice and cozy right between the Railway Rifle and the Rock-It Launcher.
Absolutely! FO4 didn't have a pipe shotgun, but this would absolutely be it. And can you imagine a pair of them on a double barrel?
who ever invented this was legitimately insane. The amount of tinkering this would have took to make it function would be astronomical.
Its funny cause you're 100% right, but it's also kind of dead simple when you really look at it.
Fun question, if you bolt similar device on the other barrel of double-barrel shotgun, would it work?
If it’s over engineered he’s probably German.
@@quint3ssent1a I don't see why it couldn't. Definitely more of a meme shotgun then something practical
@@shoelessbandit1581 on the other hand if you're comparing it to a single shot break action shotgun...
Imagine having 2 of these attached to a double barrel
That would be brilliant, if it weren't for one thing. IRL, double barrel shotguns don't eject. They extract. Or at least side-by-sides don't.
For the unfamiliar, the difference is that side-by-side shotguns only pull the shells out far enough for you to easily grab them from the chambers. Over-under shotguns yeet that shit over the shooter's shoulder.
@@mutilator97 That makes it even better. You only need one modified one to slap two shells into that bitch to unleash maximum carnage with your 2 shot shotgun suddenly having 8 shots
@@mutilator97
that's probably because you may have only fired one chamber, and don't want to extract and then have to reload the unfired chamber.
@@mutilator97 side by side shottys can have ejectors idk what your talking about
@@MrSolidsnake293 Can? yes. Do? Not any I've ever seen IRL.
This seems like something that would be some upgrade in a videogame and not something that would actually function and work in real life.
Yeah, really. SCREAMS Fallout 4.
It does look like something out of Bioshock. Reality is often as strange if not stranger than fiction.
Strong Metro 2033 vibe for me.
Strap four of these to a double barrel and you have the upgraded shotgun from Bioshock 2.
This is for depression era Joe Blow farmer who only has a single shot shotgun, but wants a repeater, but he doesnt have the money for a repeater. So PRESTO: For half the price of an 1897, you can bolt this thing onto your single shot gun and operate like a champ!

Gotta love the ingenuity of the last century and before.
I love that this was specifically designed to be bolted on to a gun you already had
There could be a legitimate modern-day market for this device in countries that have extremely strict gun laws.
John Eden even places with extremely strict gun laws let you have a shotgun with 5 round capacity
@@JamesTheAxeThrower In the US, maybe. That's not the same story for other countries.

@@Gangster88232 I would recommend you to change your nick name then. This is not a gun video, it is a technical history lesson. If you want to learn about the human progression, then look at the weapons. The humans have in all time used their best knowledge to make the most advanced weapons. I prefer this kind of sober a video way over a "first person shooting game kill spree" video, or some hunting porn. Games distances you from the reality, and a lot of the "hunting porn" doesn't give the proper respect to the aspect about hunting , or to the killed animals.

@Sean Wilkinson Only problem would be that it's a pain in the arse to reload by comparison.
@@norrecvizharan1177 Unless you could just replace the tubes entirely on the sides. The real issue would be the arms would slam the rounds inwards as they slam the spent casings outwards. There'd need to be some kind of delay system to keep the arms from snapping over right away, so the normal ejectors can pop the spent rounds out and then the new ones snap in.
It's like a lever action, but the whole back half of the gun is the lever.
this is like metro 2033 level of gunhacks omg i love it.i want a game where you have this as a shotgun and a howell lee enfield semi automatic conversion
just don't forget to add Charlton Automatic Rifle as LMG and Bergmann 1896 and Bergmann-Bayard as sidearms.... and Steampunk setting ofc :)
This is the kind of "is it stupid or is it genius" engineering that I live for. Like, you can obviously see how this is the kind of cobbled-together, overengineered-yet-jury-rigged stopgap between single action and pump/lever action. (philosophically, not chronologically. I know there were pump/lever action shotguns before this) I absolutely love it and simultaneously would never trust my life with it xD
Manually reloading will always be reliable, this "auto-loader" relies on the shell hitting that trigger mechanism to load the next shell in, if it works 100% of the time though then yeah this would be a good and faster replacement for manually loading, provided it works 100% of the time, otherwise you have to manually hit that trigger yourself to get it load the next shell, I'd argue though that even doing that would be faster than loading it yourself unless you're super quick at manually loading.
...Imagine this on an M79 Grenade Launcher...

I keep thinking I'll never see something new, and I keep being wrong
That is what makes these oddball guns so cool, early on in the 1900s most of the basic layouts we know were around in some form. Then other designers started playing around with them and you get something like this. You would think there are only so many ways to make a bullet go bang but the level of variation in design is amazing.
I keep thinking in gonna invent something new, and I am wrong. Anything before 1960 is superior.
