If you think about it, the Kar98k’s safety is really intuitive. In the up position, it doesn’t allow the user to properly aim down sights, telling the user that the safety is on.
There are 3 safety settings. Left allows you to pull the trigger and cycle the bolt, up allows you to cycle the bolt but not pull the trigger, and right stops any movement at all.
The issue is that the firing pin has to be back for the safety to be on - you have to leave it with the pressure on the spring the whole time, which can wear it out.
Well some could argue that's a bit of a pain. Being able to sight up a target and then click the safety off when you are about to shoot is something quite useful.

Yet this genius managed everything with such an efficient design.
@@langbakke9953 The locking mechanism is really simple, for example. Compare locking lugs that have to interface with a barrel extension, bolt carrier driven by piston that rotates the bolt, etc. Instead, you just move this little knob up and back, then front and down again, and everything just works. Edit: In terms of manufacture, yes on both of those, but like any other rifle there's plenty of other machines and work that go into it. Like you need to heat treat several parts, especially the springs. You need a tap and die to make screws, etc. Some of the parts are probably milled, everything has to be cut at some point. Why is this so simple, yet so goddamn complicated? The Man who invented this must had ALOT of Time and Imagination...
It's just an evolution of existing designs. All successful rifles are descendents of prior designs. Generally only Forgotten Weapons™ have unusual, unique designs.

An absolute masterpiece. Picked up 3 ww2 era rifles recently and I figured out how to release the bolt on the SMLE and the Mosin and the M1 Carbine but had no idea that little side piece there kept it in and ejected spent casings. I adore American and German engineering.
Germany made a work of art, the Kar98 is a sniper with incredible precision, in our games everything happens in milliseconds and seeing little by little you can see that it has an incredible and perfect precision in its operation that are thought and thought of in all the features that made it faster and more accurate in shooting. Amazing!!!!!!
"In our games" you mean you never shot one in real life
@@klemensk8776 yeah he did
“Sniper with incredible precision.”
Video games.
the funny part is that it's not a sniper and very few were actually sniper models

He even has the "CBT" meme voice
Well you're probably Australian (from saying "mate") meaning you're likely not familiar with gun terminology lol
The kar98 is my favorite weapon ever, the look, the design all of it
What can I say? Your animations are super microscopic! wooooow!
Thank you!!

I love my Yugo M48. The K98k of any variation might be old-fashioned but in the proper hands and properly used will serve you well
I saw the worst sight at my local gun store. A bubba'd M24/47 with a cheap scope and mount
So this is how shroud uses kar98 in very slow motion .
Stop that pubg bs
